Leave Glenn alone, if you were a star player in the waning years of your career, and left available for the expansion draft. In other words sent to a team with NO chance of winning anything, you wouldnt retire a Jet either

we had to expose him, we couldn't afford his contract and the expansion gave us a way to unload his contract with no penalty. matter of fact they took both our starting CBs if i remember correctly

Aaron Glenn was an excellent cornerback and one of the few 'excellent' players the Jets have had, particularly in the modern era. He was also an excellent returner. Does anyone remember the game in 98 against Kansas City? He had an excellent kickoff return that basically saved our season.

The Jets signed Donnie Abraham and Aaron Beasely to replace them. How can I forget? I remember teams converting 3rd and forever through the air against the vaunted Ted Cotrell Cover 2 (a euphemism for cover NO ONE) from 2001 to 2003. What a joke.

I was a big Donnie Abe fan speaking of him. One of those lunch bucket kind of corners. Not flashy but just solid. Aaron Glenn was the best corner to ever wear a Jets Uni until Revis. Can't really hate on Aaron Glenn, other then the fact he decided to retire a Texan. Wish he would have done it here with us.

how about the 100+ yarder in the playoffs against the broncos at the end of the half on a missed long FG try by denver putting the jets up 10-0 at halftime?

518 victor green was a beast. i love the way he played. a real intimidater that never missed tackles. he always led us in tackles to at the safety spot and we had some good LBers (like mo lewis and bryan cox) how did he never make the pro bowl?

What playoff game are you referring to? Aaron Glenn returned a missed field goal 100+ yards against the Colts in 1998 right before the half ended. And the Jets still lost the game...

I cant believe what im reading... 40 something year old Steve De'berg started the 98 week 9 Kansas City game and there was no way in hell that game was going into the loss collum. Parcells even went as far as saying so before the game. The game was a heavily rainsoaked game delayed by lighting at one part. I dont remember if glenn returned a kick but your statement that he "saved the season" I wont comment on. the win in this game gave us a 5-3 record, we eventually went on to 12-4 record. Our season was NEVER in jeopardy after Vinny became the starting QB replacing Glenn Foley in week 5 during the Rams loss. The only game we didnt earn was the Seattle game where the ref said Vinny's QB sneak was a TD but the replay showed the ball never crossed the plain but couldn't be over ruled for some reason. The Jets were a machine that season after Vinny took over until the AFC title loss at Denver. The season was never really in jeopardy in 1998, and Glenn had a good year for us.

i think it was against the broncos to put us up 10-0 at the half, but we lost 20-10

it wasn't the denver game, but it couldn't be the colts becuase we didn't play them that year in the playoffs. we had a bye week 1st, then we played jax and won then played den in the AFC champ game and lost 23-10

the 10-0 score was a result of a field goal, and a blocked punt (I forget by who) near denvers end zone that resulted in a rushing TD (probably by martin)

Yes, I knew it was a regular season game because it was the last game the Jets lost in the regular season and Parcells had said, "I'm too old to lose."

I vividly recall Peyton driving the Colts down the field to win the game and although I am not certain, I believe it was his first career come from behind win.

I'm quite impressed. I seldom read a posting that outlines vivid recollections of past games. I read your profile. Although you are incorrect about the final game in 97 (O'Donnell actually did the right thing; the refs stopped the playclock and warned the fans that the next time it would be a 5 yard penalty), I'm really impressed with your memory. I too recall watching the game against the Patriots in 97 (Curtis Martin had 40 carries for 200 yards in that game!). And yes, it was a great game.

That being said, when it comes to Jet games, you've got to get up much earlier than me my friend! Steve Deberg was not the quarterback in that game. In fact, the Jets crushed him and the Falcons the very same season, as he was subbing for Chris Chandler, remember? Grbac was the quarterback for the Chiefs. And yes, the season was very much in doubt early on in 98, as the Jets opened 0-2. At 4-3, this game was pivotal. No one could run the ball in this game. This game really portended things for both teams. KC went in the tank after this game, and it ultimately led to Schottenheimer's demise. The Jets, while stumbling one more time with the Colts, never really looked back.

NFL games have ebb and flows. Certain plays, while seemingly insignificant, really turn out to be enormous in their impact. Sometimes, players don't realize it until after the season. That Aaron Glenn kickoff was huge. KC had just scored a touchdown to take the lead in the 4th quarter. The stadium was rocking. The game was very much in doubt. The Jets, a historically losing organization, had lost games like this a thousand times. But Parcells was able to "will" the team out of the Same Old Jets mentality. Players like Aaron Glenn had to step up and make a play, something Jet teams in the past simply could not do. Glenn got us to midfield or slightly beyond. Eventually, Testaverde hit that piece of shit Kyle Brady for a 20 yard touchdown pass to take the lead for good. And I remember my heart being in my throat on that throw, because a KC defender decided to take a chance and broke on the route, nearly returning it for a touchdown. But the pass had enough velocity with it to get there just before the defender could.

Your right Im wrong, I got the Kansas City and Atlanta game mixed up. Deberg started for the Falcons in the Atlanta game. I got Deberg stuck in my head because of Parcells pregame comment that hes bringing Simms back if Deberg beats the jets, gotta love the tuna.
