It doesn't work that way, and i'm not trying to be a jerk, but obviously you don't understand NFL contracts. he doesn't get 100 million no matter what. the whole contract will never be guarenteed, and at the end its teh total compensation and what yoru saying will be 160 million which is exactly what revis wants and what the jets won't give him

Mevis is trying to get this huge payday because he knows he wont be getting another one after this. I got a bad feeling we're going to get scerwed even harder by him after he does finally get a deal. This'll likely be his last contract because no one is going to want to touch him after all this is said and done. He likely wont be a shutdown corner anymore because his mind will be too busy thinking of his bank account rather than his duties on the field.
When someone annoys u, it takes 42 muscles in ur face 2 frown. BUT, it only takes 4 muscles 2 extend ur arm & b!tch-slap that mother@*?!&! upside the head!!

So, a quick recap here. D. Revis is in the middle of his rookie contract. He has rejected a 10 year, 120 Million Dollar contract. D. Revis wants 160 Million Dollars. You have got to be f***ing kidding me. I see why ticket sales and all the merchandise is so much money. Holy f*** batman. If you arent willing to take a 120 Million Dollar contract for the chance to play on what could be the greatest defense in a long time, and even a Super Bowl? WTF are you doing as a football player?

IDK if you watched hardknocks last night, but they had MT driving to meet with revis's people at that now famous friday meeting at roscoes diner that lasted 3 hours. The cameras weren't allowed in the meeting but when MT came out he seemed very down and upset and all he said was he didn't even agree with 1 thing they said all meeting.

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The New York Jets and the agents for Darrelle Revis reached a truce, issuing a joint statement Thursday in which they vowed to work toward a resolution to the contract standoff.
"Both parties have had conversations to clear the air and will continue to negotiate with the hopes of reaching an agreement," the statement read. "From this point forward, all discussions regarding these negotiations will remain confidential."
It's time for the Jets' brass to be quiet, and just focus on signing Darrelle Revis, Johnette Howard writes.
Minutes after the statement was released to reporters, coach Rex Ryan was asked to comment. The usually talkative Ryan looked at the Jets' public relations director, turned back toward reporters and said: "Can't talk about it."
The sniping between the two sides escalated in recent days, with the agents calling the Jets "blatant liars." It prompted Ryan to make an unorthodox proposal: He invited Revis and his agents to training camp to meet with the entire team. Then, on Wednesday night's debut of "Hard Knocks," general manager Mike Tannenbaum painted a grim picture of the Revis negotiations. In recent days, owner Woody Johnson has made a media blitz, making ominous statements about Revis' chances of playing this season.
The war of words -- and the blatant posturing -- is over. Now the question becomes whether the two sides can hammer out a deal, As of early this morning, they were miles apart, according to sources.
The All-Pro cornerback has missed 11 days, including Wednesday, since the team reported for training camp at SUNY Cortland. He's scheduled to make $1 million in the fourth year of his six-year rookie deal, but wants to become the league's highest-paid cornerback.
Revis is seeking a deal bigger than the three-year, $45.3 million extension Oakland's Nnamdi Asomugha signed last offseason. He has not commented publicly since minicamp in June.

You are aware that there is a thing called the salary cap right? Or at least there will be. That's the issue. Who cares if it's for five years or ten years, once the cap is back in place it's gonna be ridiculously hard to pay a guy that kind of money who's not your quarterback. Not to mention that no one has any way of knowing what the cap will be when it comes back.

Both the New York Jets and Revis' representatives honored their gag-order agreement, with neither side commenting publicly on the negotiations.
After a media blitz aimed to win public support and put pressure on the Revis camp, the Jets have shut it down. The All-Pro cornerback's chatty agents, too, haven't returned phone calls.
An interesting subplot will be HBO's "Hard Knocks." In Wednesday night's premier, the show devoted a considerable amount of air time to Revis' holdout, with comments from Rex Ryan, GM Mike Tannenbaum and owner Woody Johnson.
Will the Jets lift the media blackout for HBO, allowing the cable network to air Revis-related material in next Wednesday's episode? That, of course, would be a double standard. The Jets won't comment on their plans, deferring questions to HBO.
"We will continue to follow all of the important storylines concerning the New York Jets, including Darrelle Revis," an HBO spokesman said. "If management tells us a matter is private, we will honor that request."
A nugget or two on the negotiations would make for good TV -- no one is denying that -- but it also would make the Jets look bad and two-faced. If you want to keep it confidential, stick to your guns.
Meanwhile, the two sides continue to work toward a resolution. Revis, seeking about $16 million per year, has said through his agents that he won't report unless he gets a new contract. The Jets are offering short- and long-term deals, the latter a 10-year, $120 million proposal. How much is fully guaranteed, however, remains a question.
People familiar with the talks believe the Jets' best chance of getting Revis into camp is with a "band-aid" contract, a short-term agreement that bumps up his 2010 compensation from $1 million. In that case, they could re-open long-term talks after the season, when the league's labor situation might be clarified.
The Jets' short-term offer contains about $5 million in 2010 pay, and there's no way that will get it done. If Johnson wants Revis, he'll have to step up with more cash.
