MikeGangGree... Icon : (Yesterday, 05:53 PM) Regular season schedule comes out tomorrow night! All I can say is WOOOOOOOOOOO
Chaos Icon : (Today, 07:47 AM) What is Rivers' trade value realistically? Assuming he does want out, he is a 33 year old franchise QB in the last year of his contract with a $17.5M cap hit. Am I wrong for thinking that he won't net a first in this years draft?
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:29 AM) 33 isn't that old for a QB
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:29 AM) still a top 10 QB
Chaos Icon : (Today, 08:35 AM) True. He also has an injury history but he's always played through that.
Chaos Icon : (Today, 08:36 AM) Jets traded Revis for the 13th overall and a conditional 4th. I'm just not sure Rivers would net 1st rounder with that contract uncertainty.
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Today, 08:57 AM) GET RIVERS
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Today, 08:59 AM) It's going to cost us 6 because we are going to have to outbid a bunch of teams
azjetfan Icon : (Today, 09:52 AM) He is a good QB and I would love to have him. However IMO our 6 is not good value for us. Not to mention if he hates the idea of LA what is he going to think of NY? Contract situation would have to be worked out prior to trade as well. Extreme long shot to land Rivers. My money says we are more likely to land Brees.
azjetfan Icon : (Today, 09:53 AM) which is still a very long shot

It's good to see Leon on the field again, but that was only an 11 yard run. McKnight is going to be a project which sounds kinda scary to me honestly because Vernon is also a project. I'm not going to say moving Leon to get McKnight is a mistake though. Leon was and still is a big risk with the injury and he was offered a fair contract which he turned down.

Can we stop the Leon worship now? I'm all for being a fan of his, but he's no longer a Jet so I really don't care anymore. The Leon threads and comments over the past few months has been almost Favre-like. Leon's a good scat back and KO return guy. That's it.

Leon could score at any moment from anywhere on the field and all I am saying is I don't have that feeling with Joe and Leon was a favorite jet to many so if he shows a good showing maybe he will be asked back in a yr or 2. like LC.

Fair point. I don't think that Tanny was looking for another Leon in McKnight though. He was looking for someone with upside and potential. Leon coming off an injury that was thought to be career threatening while being in a contract dispute was more of a risk to keep than trading him.

I understand that he was a fan favorite to many but I don't see him coming back even with Seattle having a stable of RB's.

No, we did not.
With the type of injury he sustained to his leg, his leg will NEVER be 100%, and will NEVER heal 100%! One wrong move, and it could snap again. Plus,it has been less than a year since his injury.
I am sure he can still be productive, but not like he was before !

I think they put a titanium rod in his bone , he won't break that leg again. My Daughter had this done to her so I know about it.

Oh well, he ran untouched through a hole. It didn't take any gamebreaking ability for that run. When he performs like the Leon of two seasons ago I'll consider changing my position. But for now, Leon still wanted too much.

You have to look at this with a business eye...if we would of kept Leon and he's still good, that's ANOTHER player waiting for a paycheck while McKnight who is a rookie no matter what he does wont get a new deal till after next season the earliest. McKnight was not only drafted to replace Leon but also to eliminate the possibility of another player looking for a payday after this season.

Leon was demanding a new deal and got injured. There was no guarantee he'd come back and be the same RB. The Jets made the right move.

I don't know if you can consider McKnight a project, he just needs to become more consistent. He shows flashes. Vernon Gholston doesn't.

I miss leon

he still would of been a great jet
even if he was gimpy on a reduced salary

I have a feeling he will make his way back around to the jets
lets give it two years.
