Jetsfan0099 Icon : (20 February 2015 - 12:09 PM) Saw that the Bills are meeting with Spiller and may sign him before FA.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (20 February 2015 - 12:10 PM) if that happens, I think the Jets should go after Shane Vereen. Nice pass catching option out of the backfield, only 25.
Smedsthejet Icon : (20 February 2015 - 04:06 PM) Think Vereen would be a great option...I thought he was one of their best and most valuable performers during the playoffs and we need a back who can contribute in the passing game as well. Jets have been missing that piece since LT retired

Excuse Jets linebacker David Harris for feeling a bit like the Ringo Starr of the Jets' "Core Four" young starters that started the offseason due a contract extension.

While D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Nick Mangold, and Darrelle Revis collect dollar bills and/or headlines, Harris bides his time. The agent for the 2007 second round pick says he's spoken with Jets brass about a contract recently, but a deal won't happen.

"Mike [Tannenbaum] and coach Rex Ryan have expressed their desire to make David a Jet for life," Harris' agent Brian Mackler told the Newark Star-Ledger. "We understand the ramifications of an uncapped year and no CBA for a second-round pick. As we stand right now, we can't do a contract without doing a structure David and I are comfortable with."

The structure likely puts the majority of guaranteed money in the future, like the Jets did with the Ferguson contract. As a second round pick, the "30 percent rule" makes a deal especially difficult.

Harris is a rock solid player the Jets don't want to lose, but we don't get the feeling his talent is irreplaceable. And that's why we probably won't hear much about the Ringo Starr of the Core Four for a while.

(If you were wondering, Mangold is George Harrison, Ferguson is Paul McCartney, and Revis is John Lennon. Of course.)

I think Pete Best would be a better comparison than Ringo. Sorry David.

And how is Revis Lennon? Imagine no possessions...
