MikeGangGree... Icon : (28 April 2016 - 09:42 PM) this guy is small
Jetsfan115 Icon : (28 April 2016 - 09:45 PM) Most mocks had Lee at 17 to the Falcons
Jetsfan115 Icon : (28 April 2016 - 09:45 PM) He's a day 1 starter for us. We've needed OLB forever
Jetsfan115 Icon : (28 April 2016 - 09:46 PM) Plus we generate a great rush from wilk rich and Williams
MikeGangGree... Icon : (28 April 2016 - 09:50 PM) I wanted Lawson bad
MikeGangGree... Icon : (28 April 2016 - 09:50 PM) f***ing bills
Jetsfan115 Icon : (28 April 2016 - 09:51 PM) Lee fills a need better
Jetsfan115 Icon : (28 April 2016 - 09:52 PM) I would have liked tunsil to slide to us though. After east picking great
MikeGangGree... Icon : (28 April 2016 - 09:52 PM) Would you take Lee over Lawson?
azjetfan Icon : (28 April 2016 - 09:55 PM) I'm not inspire by that pick. Not even a little
Jetsfan115 Icon : (28 April 2016 - 10:01 PM) Wasn't an option. Lawson was gone
Jetsfan115 Icon : (28 April 2016 - 10:02 PM) Lawson is more of a de. We already have too many of those. We only have 1 proven LBer and he's 32 and we run a 3-4. Lee is a day 1 starter
Jetsfan115 Icon : (28 April 2016 - 10:03 PM) Broncos traded up for lynch
MikeGangGree... Icon : (28 April 2016 - 10:41 PM) Round 1 is done

Jetsfan115 Icon : (29 April 2016 - 11:19 AM) jets tried to trade up for tunsil but the price was too high
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (29 April 2016 - 05:10 PM) Tunsil will end up out of the league
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (29 April 2016 - 05:12 PM) Lee isn't a pass rusher, hes a fast athletic LB. Hes probably their future at ILB, someone who can cover in the middle
Jetsfan115 Icon : (29 April 2016 - 06:16 PM) jets said he's an ILB for us
Jetsfan115 Icon : (29 April 2016 - 06:17 PM) If we could grab jack he would be an OLB
Jetsfan115 Icon : (29 April 2016 - 06:17 PM) ttians have 3 picks in the next 13 picks
Jetsfan115 Icon : (29 April 2016 - 06:33 PM) jack to jax 36th overal

SoReALSoJetS Icon : (29 April 2016 - 07:29 PM) Hi guys long time no talk hope everyone is well
Mr_Jet Icon : (29 April 2016 - 07:46 PM) SMH
ganggreen2003 Icon : (29 April 2016 - 07:46 PM) JETS drafted QB Hackenberg PSU
Mr_Jet Icon : (29 April 2016 - 07:47 PM) Should have picked Connor Cook.
MikeGangGree... Icon : (29 April 2016 - 07:56 PM) I guess we are giving up on petty
Jetsfan115 Icon : (29 April 2016 - 09:02 PM) Or giving up on geno
Jetsfan115 Icon : (29 April 2016 - 09:02 PM) I said the rumor was they liked him more then cook
Mr_Jet Icon : (29 April 2016 - 11:35 PM) I know I'm biased, but I've seen them both play. Cook is just better. Hackenberg had one good year. Cook has won more games, played in big games and won them....whatever, its done now so no sense on dwelling on it I guess. I just don't see the appeal in Hackenberg, nice kid, but I always thought he was really overrated. Oh well. I would have taken Kevin Hogan over Hackenberg.
azjetfan Icon : (30 April 2016 - 03:47 PM) From what I have read so far he had a great freshman year under Obrien in a pro style offense. At that point some considered him the next Andrew luck. Then Obrien left and they shifted to a spread under new HC who did poor job bringing in talent. He was also sacked and hit a million times. Might be shell shocked.
Smedsthejet Icon : (01 May 2016 - 06:17 AM) But Chan Gailey runs a spread system - still, I'm comfortable with the Hackenberg pick seeing as Gailey will develop the system to suit his strength... I'm just glad that we passed on Paxton Lynch in the first...we still desperately need Fitz to re-sign though
azjetfan Icon : (01 May 2016 - 07:14 PM) From my understanding the spread in college and the spread in NFL are not the same principals. I really think it was more of a talent issue and getting sacked 80 times in 2 years that did him in. I have no idea if he will make it. I don't follow college ball enough to to know. Theses are just things I read in articles.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:24 AM) I'm stoked about getting peake in the 7th round. that was a steal. he was a projected 3rd rounder. wonder what scared teams away
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 06:05 PM) Jets Invite Terron Beckham(Odell's Cousin) to Minicamp
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 06:06 PM) Listed as a RB had more bench presses and highest vertical of anyone this year. Hasn't played football since high school and apparently not very smart

Gholston Is Confident the Wait Is Finally Over

By GREG BISHOP
Published: August 28, 2010

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — At the beginning of his third N.F.L. season, Vernon Gholston has never felt so comfortable, aggressive, primed. When he acknowledged that late Friday, though, he leaned forward, eyes on his locker. He spoke firmly, but also sheepishly, as if he wanted to knock on wood.

This is not Gholston’s first trip down the avenue of expectations so far unfilled. He was the sixth overall pick in the 2008 N.F.L. draft, a nonfactor through two seasons, a college defensive end turned outside linebacker turned back into a defensive lineman in the spring.

Each year, the Jets predicted Gholston would break out — including this one. He has rewarded the franchise with 30 tackles — in two seasons.

Still, all parties think (again) that this year will be different, that the beast that seems so obvious in Gholston’s frame, with biceps that look like swollen grapefruit and a torso that resembles an oversize V, will finally emerge.

“I’ve got momentum,” Gholston said. “Now, it’s about putting it all together.”

The Jets had just lost, 16-11, to visiting Washington in their third preseason game when Gholston exited the showers behind most of his teammates. Earlier Friday, he recorded a quarterback hit and recovered a muffed punt, and added two tackles for good measure.

All preseason, HBO had featured Gholston as a story line on “Hard Knocks,” and this performance surely provided more fodder for next week’s episode. But it also came with a disclaimer in that the Jets, Coach Rex Ryan and Gholston have all claimed progress in seasons past. Yet here they are again, perhaps for the final time.

Gholston calmly traced the problems in his first two seasons. In his rookie year, he struggled adapting to the N.F.L. At Ohio State, he had dominated rushing quarterbacks from the end position, but the Jets preferred to work Gholston as a pass-rush specialist from outside linebacker.

In his second season, Ryan made Gholston his pet project, but even with Ryan’s defensive acumen, Gholston had little impact. Gholston said the new system and the new coaching staff delayed his progress.

In the spring, Ryan moved Gholston back to defensive end, which made sense for both parties. The Jets’ depth at that position remains thin, and Gholston seems to be more comfortable there.

“This year, I’m familiar with the system,” he said. “I know what’s going on. I’m playing with more confidence.”

Gholston said that started with a change in mind-set. He felt that he was still learning in previous seasons, which prohibited him from playing at full speed. This year, he decided to attack, no matter what.

Shaun Ellis, the longest-tenured Jet and the player Gholston sits behind on the depth chart, provided advice on different types of blocks by offensive tackles. Jason Taylor mentored Gholston on pass-rushing techniques, which is like getting a computer lesson from Paul Allen. Coaches helped, too, Ryan in particular.

The better Gholston played, the more people he heard from. They called him after “Hard Knocks” revealed that Ryan had engineered the fight between him and offensive lineman Rob Turner, the resident hockey goon. In that practice, the mild-mannered Gholston threw Turner to the ground like a paperweight. Gholston guessed Friday that his “super strength” had kicked in.

He remains an intriguing figure. Because of the bulging biceps. Because of the signs of progress. Because of Ryan’s influence. Because of the possibilities, as always.

Gholston approached the Jets this off-season and volunteered to take a pay cut. Now, with linebacker Calvin Pace expected to miss what Ryan predicted would be a few weeks with a foot injury, Gholston could see time at his old position and his new one.

Regardless, he does not plan to back down. Not to Turner, not to increased expectations, not to anyone. Again.

I wrote that? I don't remember writing that... I remember being shocked about him going that early but killing myself? Sounds a little screwy.

Eh... it was something along those lines.

Maybe it was wishful thinking on my part, though.

Year 3. Gee it's like I've been saying that the past 3 years...

If Gholston does not produce while on the field this year he's officially a bust. Nothing he's done prior to this year matters. He's overpaid and was over hyped. Doesn't matter if he continues to make plays like he has been and even picks up a few sacks. I will greatly enjoy being right.

By the way, I'm pretty sure he isn't over paid anymore (although his play in the past makes any paycheck going his way make him seem overpaid)

WTF? He's saying that all this time, he knew that Gholston would start contributing in Year 3. He'll enjoy being right about Gholston finally being something more than a punchline. While most of us had Gholston written off, this dude kept on and on about Year 3. Now he's trying to say that we were all Chicken Little, and he was the voice of reason.

Lol I was like "is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?"

It's all good man, I'm not really sure if I was 100% clear, but my point was made. Seriously though all I've done this preseason was follow him while on the field and he definitely is making plays, pushing the line, following the play, and most importantly is not completely lost in his assignments. I'm not saying he is a beast, but he will make some plays for this team: I believe it.
