santana Icon : (18 October 2014 - 12:03 PM) chris owusu
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (18 October 2014 - 01:21 PM) Salas is better than Nelson
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (18 October 2014 - 01:22 PM) Nelson is rated as the worst wr in football this season
santana Icon : (18 October 2014 - 01:34 PM) he has to better than owusu or graham
518-JeTS-FaN Icon : (18 October 2014 - 04:36 PM) I posted an article about harvin and some of his issues. Dude seems like a wack job with talent. Hope rex can corral this guy or he could make the locker room implode
santana Icon : (19 October 2014 - 11:43 AM) Wasn't demean Jackson vilified as a gang affiliated street thug during his Philly release
santana Icon : (19 October 2014 - 12:31 PM) damn football sunday and no ones on
Canuck Jet Icon : (19 October 2014 - 01:00 PM) Yeah, cuz Rex is so good at developing offensive talent; 0 - Infinity
Canuck Jet Icon : (19 October 2014 - 01:02 PM) Harvin is Holmes 2.0, except punches for general bitchiness and annoying first down celebrations.
santana Icon : (19 October 2014 - 01:03 PM) i'm not buying into the media nonsense
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (19 October 2014 - 01:06 PM) Harvin is a playmaker, we needed one.
Canuck Jet Icon : (19 October 2014 - 01:15 PM) I hope he tears it up as a Jet, but he's been tossed from 2 teams in as many years and hasn't cracked 1000 yds in his career. I wouldn't be surprised if he had CTE from those brutal head hits, hence the aggression of late.
santana Icon : (19 October 2014 - 01:18 PM) I was tossed from two t-ball teams and some people still say i was the best hitter on timid deer lane
santana Icon : (19 October 2014 - 01:20 PM) bills RBs dropping like flies
Canuck Jet Icon : (19 October 2014 - 01:20 PM) We'll only really know when the autopsy his brain. Stay tuned! Guy never should have played the Super Bowl after the 2 concussions he suffered against the Saints.

santana Icon : (19 October 2014 - 08:45 PM) I don't think he wanted to be here
santana Icon : (19 October 2014 - 08:46 PM) I don't really care for passing records being broken. Qbs now have a lot of rules in their favor
santana Icon : (19 October 2014 - 08:46 PM) I mean even the catch that got them into the redzone was a PI call that wouldnt of been called when favre played
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 05:16 AM) is that a suggestion that Favre was a better QB than Peyton?
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 08:05 AM) No it's a suggestion that passing records today are a bit skewed by the modern rules
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 08:05 AM) everyone knows Favre is the bestest ever that's not even an argument duhhhhh

Slauson is clearly better than vlad right now. But is he good enough? If sanchez goes down because our LG ole's someone bye, we got even more serious issues. Brunell vs Clemens (we'll tackle that when it happens). Every is worried about the offense , how bout the offense without sanchez?

Really? Are you not a fan of the team that had a revolving door at LG not too long ago?

Remember Adrien Clarke stepping in for the eerily similar to Faneca, Pete Kendall?

If memory serves, didn't Adrien Clarke play turnstile for Richard Seymour and get one of our QB's smacked into the turf? Pennington or Clemens I can't remember...

I don't think having Slauson there is as bad as Clarke, but really? You're really going to say that?

Uh, I think Adrien Clarke was lined up next to Brick (only his 2nd season I think) and Mangold (only second season, too I think) and I also think on the other side was a younger Moore and Anthony Clement? I could be completely wrong but I think that's how it was in 2007.

I tend to agree with 115 here. Playing next to someone like Brick and Mangold, two outstanding pass blockers will help him. Whoever wins the guard job (Slausen) is going to be good against the run and need to catch up against the pass... no one better to do that with then Mangold and Brick.

I think offensive guard is the most overrated position in football, only recently with schemes like we've used with Faneca have they really become known/needed.

I don't have any worries with our left guard position. None. It isn't a make or break position on the offensive line at all.

Here is the thing about the OL, can't go too much into the preseason with pass protection because they didn't game plan. They will game plan their protection based on how teams attack.

Slauson had some nice blocks in the run game, his pass protection could use work but we will see how this plays out over the season.

BTW I watched the Cardinals game and Faneca looked TERRIBLE. He was really getting owned out there. The thing we need is Slauson being able to do that pull blocking that Faneca was GREAT at, from the little I saw in preseason he made some nice blocks at it, we'll see.

I'm 25 and been a jet fan all my life lol, with that said clarke didn't play next to a top 3 LT and best C in the game. He was next to 2 up and coming players in the 2nd year. and brick was struggling his 1st two years don't forget. plus on the right side we had clement at RT and he sucked too. so we had a bad RT, Bad LG, 2nd year C, 2nd year struggling LT, and solid RG. Moore was probably our best o-lineman at that point.

Now we have Best C, top 3 LT, Solid RG and RT and moore is our 4th best lineman Huge diference

Exactly. Moore was a undrafted free agent DT that we converted into a G through the practice squad and NFL europe. The most importnat o-line positions are LT and C and were set there for the next 6 years barring injury, then RT , then the guards.

Yeah. Faneca's athleticism and ability to pull and really get out there and block was second to none. Slauson won't be asked to do that as much, but he's more adept to it then big Vlad, that's for sure.

Faneca had a great career, but he was declining and were short on money. even though there is no cap, all the teams are acting like there is a cap in place. Its why gholston took a pay cut, and why coles got cut, and clemens took a pay cut. We just shelled out 18 million a year to brick and mangold for the next 6 years and we offered revis 12.2 mil a year too.

I don't need the Faneca thing to be explained to me. I actually mentioned it around here well before he was released and I was in complete favor of releasing him. I'm not sold on what we replaced with, but as I have said numerous times (something SHJ can't understand) I do not rate guards. I'd never pay one big money, I'd never draft one in the top 3 rounds either. I want two bookend tackles, a good center who can keep the offensive line together and I'll be fine.

Guards aren't that important in comparison i agree. if you look at our line it was built the right way

LT - drafted 4th overall
LG - drafted 6th round
C - drafted 26th overall
RG - undrafted free agent
RT - Free agent signing (former 1st rounder)

Thats the ideal way to build your line right there
