Jets vs Chiefs Sunday 4:30est
MikeGangGree... Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:09 AM) good
MikeGangGree... Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:09 AM) Best day of the week is the day after a Jets Win!
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:12 AM) Rob you think the offense started off ugly? we scored on our first 4 drives, and controlled the ball 80% of the time the first half. We didn't even punt until the 2nd half
ROBJETS Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:21 AM) I meant the hits on Fitz at on the first Drive or two with the fumbles and almost fumbles....The Tom Brady rule where balls that used to be fumbles are incomplete. We recovered the ball on all but one but it was ruled incomplete
ROBJETS Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:26 AM) The offensive line stepped off after Hughes got hurt for however long he was out. I don't blame J. Marsh for that fumble because that was just a hell of a play. Imo Fitz had a career best game even with only 1 td passing. Never seen him so accurate. So yeah when I meant ugly I meant dline penetration and the 1st two drives ending up in fieldgoals
ROBJETS Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:30 AM) But 31 points given up passing by the defense passing was bad. It wasn't just 2 long bombs and that defensive touchdown leading to 21 points. 3q1 against a bad team was terrible for the defense. Without the offense putting up 37 the Jets, would have lost so yeah I consider it an ugly start on both ends
ROBJETS Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:32 AM) I'm glad like everyone else that the Jets won. Especially with getting with by the Bills multiple times it was nice revenge.
ROBJETS Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:34 AM) Just saying that the Bills look like a bad team this year and the Jets have to face a lot of teams that are probably playoff bound again so yes there is a lot of concern
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 September 2016 - 11:39 AM) fitz look good and lets not forget the 50+ yarder to decker that was called back on a BS holding penalty. plus if you rewatch it, the jets d-line was getting held like crazy and never got calls. I seen McLendon, williams, and wilk all complaining about it
azjetfan Icon : (16 September 2016 - 12:32 PM) I think the game plan for the D was to keep Taylor in the pocker
azjetfan Icon : (16 September 2016 - 12:33 PM) They didn't want him running around when they only rushed 3-4 guts
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 September 2016 - 12:37 PM) bills fired their OC today after the loss yesterday lol
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 September 2016 - 12:38 PM) yeah we didn't really rush, we just tried to keep contain on the outside and collapse the middle
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 September 2016 - 12:38 PM) on the salas TD, one of our LBers went for the sack and broke contain and pryor got away and made the play
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 September 2016 - 12:39 PM) when we did rush which was rare, we had a spy
ROBJETS Icon : (16 September 2016 - 11:11 PM) As far as the Bills firing the oc I'm not sure I agree with it with Watkins having major foot problem with a steel rod in his surgically repaired foot but I dont follow the Bills so cant really say. I do think they need to get rid of Rob Ryan though. He had a decent year with the Browns then was terrible with the Cowboys and Saints. He isn't half the DC that Rex is. I still think Rex can be a good head coach withe the right coaches and roster but Rob Ryan isn't the answer. But if Rex wants to ruin his chance of staying a head coach by keeping his brother on the coaching staff like he ruined his head coaching job keeping Sanchez as a starter then that's his stupidity
ganggreen2003 Icon : (17 September 2016 - 12:20 AM) The A Football Life of Curtis Martin is a MUST WATCH!!!!
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (17 September 2016 - 02:03 PM) They got rid of their OC after their defense was ripped apart
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:03 PM) Well hell that makes even less sense. The defense gets ripped apart so let's get rid of the oc instead of the dc.they didn't have much of a run game but a lot of passes yards. If they wanted to blame anyone for nearly 40 points against them it was their defense. But guess Rex used the ocean as the scale goat instead of his brother
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:04 PM) Oc not ocean. Damn Auto correct on phone
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:04 PM) And scape goatee
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:05 PM) Lol still can't get it right
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:13 PM) Not sure about anyone else but I'm extremely interested in the 49r/ Panther game at 1pm. Just want to see if the 49rs are actually good this year or if the Rams have become one of the worst teams in the league this year
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:16 PM) If the Rams have regressed that much then all the Todd Gurley owners in fantasy will likely have low points from him all year. Might even be worth trying to trade him early if they look just as bad this week before his stock drops
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:26 PM) I drafted him last year and also had David Johnson, Chris Johnson, Roetlesburger, Romo, Palmer, Barnage,, .....my whole team was stacked with starters. Entire team wasc stacked with starters. Even bench. Made tge Superbowl but did have a rough start at behinning of season when Romo and Roethlisberger wentvdown at the start of season also lost amazing starting rb and wr all within the 1st 4 games but worked the waivers really well..shut out until garbage time by a team that was terrible last year
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:28 PM) Last part meant Rams were shut out entire game even in garbage time against 49r backups
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:29 PM) Sorry about typos. Hard to type on small phone screen
MikeGangGree... Icon : (17 September 2016 - 06:00 PM) This is why I'm glad Rex is gone. Fire the OC after the D gives up 500 yards??
MikeGangGree... Icon : (17 September 2016 - 06:01 PM) UPDATE THE UPDATE!!!!
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 06:25 PM) Yep Rex isn't a bad coach but he needs to have all player and coach decisions as far as firing and hiring taken out of his hands. His problem is he doesn't know to separate the job from loyalty to players and is unable to let underperforming players go
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 06:27 PM) He was great as a DC because he wasn't in charge of roster and firing decisions. He will never make it as a good head coach until he can get rid of loyalty and run a team like any boss runs a business.
azjetfan Icon : (17 September 2016 - 07:16 PM) I loved Rex as a person. But he is severely handicapped in his skill set as a HC. He has not adapted and will not adapt. That's why he isn't here and will be fired from Buffalo.
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:05 AM) It's all guessing and I will like likely stick with my two starters that are injured and playing but D.Thomas looks like he is still in a lot of pain and Stewart is still in the locker room getting ankle treatment so both could be on a snap count
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:06 AM) I have good wr's on bench and good rb's on bench but they have bad matchups. Do t trust Diggs against Greenbay or Doug Martin against Arizona both on bench
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:08 AM) If I made changes I have Crabtree for Oakland Aagainst Atlanta and Abdullah for Detroit against 49rs as my two options I would choose if I made any changes
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:10 AM) Actually have it backwards with my running back teams
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:12 AM) Detroit vs Titans who I believe has a legit defense. Panthers have a better team but the ankle for Stewart and both the Titans and 49rs are ranked #1 against the run. Not a believer in the 49rs defensesthough
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:13 AM) Believe the Rams oline just sucks
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:15 AM) Abdullah splits carries but he did get 17 last week and also catches a lot of passes and has a better qb so could exploit the Titans still
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:16 AM) Will most likely do my own thing anyway just looking for input from those that actually study in fantasy if anyone feels like offering their opinions. If not it's cool too. Thanks
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:18 AM) If not for the injuries to the two players I'd keep them in for sure but all it takes for Thomas is a hit to the hip and a tackle by the ankle for Stewart if they aren't on a snap count already or if pain doesn't get to them.
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 12:45 PM) Well looks like leaving in Stewart was,a,bad move in locker room
MikeGangGree... Icon : (18 September 2016 - 04:54 PM) Good news! Dolphins suck
santana Icon : (19 September 2016 - 08:08 AM) Thanks professor
Jetsfan115 Icon : (23 September 2016 - 03:55 PM) updated roster. FB howsare released, TE bowman added to roster

I don't see four tight ends being carried. Last year we went with just Keller and Hartsock. I can easily see Mulligan and/or Cumberland not making it. I can easily see at least one of those two being dropped in favor of Chauncey Washington, because he was running hard in the preseason and you know Rex loves the ground and pound. Especially with the comments Rex was making about McKnight.

*Edit* Thinking about it again, I could see one of Mulligan/Cumberland being sent to practice squad, and the other being cut. This would ensure room for Conner and T-Rich, and give a little freedom with those two roster spots.

Normally I wouldn't pick for TEs but rex said he was gonna keep four. I can see washington making it instead of taylor though. Were a running team what would we need 6 WRs for, I only picked taylor over washington cause he returns punts

I'd definitely prefer 8 LBs rather than the seven you listed, to 4 TEs. Remember we use heavy sets with an extra tackle on offense quite a bit, so carrying four TEs - even if Rex said the team would - doesn't neccessarily make sense to me. I can't see Jason Taylor being used on STs, so that leaves just Laury and Westerman out of the LBs you listed who would be available to Westhoff.

The nest LBer on my list is statele. Do you think he earned a spot? I don't. Plus at TE this will be heartstocks last year with us and cumberland looks like he can be a weopen and mulligan looks good too

You missed that one ILB that wasn't dressed for the 4th game... he pretty much is guaranteed a spot because of how he played the firt 3 games.

Your right. But laury isn't guaranteed a spot. especially since he isn't at the minimum. I'm gonna add cummings and drop larry taylor though

CONFIRMED

WR Larry Taylor – The Jets have cut the diminutive WR, losing out for the final WR spot to David Clowney and maybe moreso, Danny Woodhead.

FB Jason Davis – With Conner and Richardson there was just no room for the journeyman Jason Davis.

C Robby Felix – Waived by the Jets, Jenny Vrentas could see him making the practice squad.

S Keith Fitzhugh – Was an UDFA from 2009 who was with the Jets last summer and who the team brought back just a few weeks ago.

LB Tim Knicky – Signed during camp with the Jets. Knicky was a former DE at Stephen F. Austin and might be someone who the Jets revisit at some point.

DB Emmanuel Cook – Like Fitzhugh, he’s another UDFA defensive back from 2009 who got a callback from the Jets. Even with his interception last night, he was unable to secure a roster spot.

LB Brashton Satele – Had some injury setbacks, but thanks to Mike Westhoff, he’s now free to open his “pizza stand” in the Bronx. We wish the flyin’ Hawaiian well.

DL Ty Steinkuhler – The Jets have been carrying Stein on and off since last year’s UDFA class. This probably means that Kroul is a lock on the initial squad, but that the team might still sift through the waiver wire to see if they can find someone else’s garbage to add to their defensive line rotation.

DL Jason Lamb – Via Steiny, this was announced on Twitter via his cousin. Lamb looked good this spring, but was unable to find a spot on the final roster this summer.

LB Rickey Foley – The OLB whom the Jets just signed in the past week from the CFL did not make the active roster for the Jets.

DT Martin Tevaseu, LB Boris Lee OL Chet Teofilo have also been cut.

UNCONFIRMED

DB Donovan Warren –A pickup that was lauded by the Jets as he went undrafted out of Michigan – Warren was unable to contribute much, as a concussion sidelined him during much camp, according to Rex’s postgame presser.

LB Joshua Mauga – The former Nevada player had concussion issues as well, and will not make the final roster, according to Rex’s postgame presser.

CB Brian Jackson – King Ugly – the guy who got all [s]uppity[/s] indifferent with Dennis Thurman has not made the active roster according to our own Lisa Zimmerman.

BUBBLING

TE Jeff Cumberland has been confirmed to make the final roster via TheJetStream, and Chauncey Washington seemingly has not been informed yet of his fate.

I rather Chauncy Washington make the team than Danny Woodhead. I like the way Washington ran the ball, hes big and seemed to run hard. Fits our style of football. Plus he made that big hit on ST..Though I expect Woodhead makes it as I think Rex said he would...

If Chauncey Washington doesn't make it but McKnight does, I'm never watching a preseason game again.

Don't watch it then. seriously you don't cut a 4th round rookie. he needs some time but if anyone can whip him into a real RB rex can

I'm not saying cut McKnight. I'm saying Chauncey Washington needs to be on the team. McKnight we want to keep to see if he can develop, but we play the Ravens in 10 days and what if Greene get hurt in the 1st Q? Who's spelling LT? Rudy or Captain Fumble? We need a 3rd back that can run with power and Washington showed that he could. McKnight is going to develop migraines and be on the PUP list.

By Manish Mehta

The Jets trimmed their roster to 53 players this morning (excluding Santonio Holmes). According to sources, the following players were waived:

WR Larry Taylor, FB Jason Davis, S Emanuel Cook, LB Brashton Satele, C Robby Felix, S Keith Fitzhugh, LB Tim Knicky, DE Jason Lamb, LB Boris Lee, DT Ty Steinkuhler, OL Chet Teofilo, DT Martin Tevaseu, LB Ricky Foley, DB Bo Smith, WR Brooks Foster, T Dan Gay, OL Michael Turkovich, LB Cory Reamer, OL Charlie Tanner.

Rex Ryan said Thursday night that LB Josh Mauga and S Don Warren would not make the team, either. Some of the released players will certainly land on the practice squad after they clear waivers. Also keep in mind that somebody will be cut once Darrelle Revis returns to the roster. When that will be, of course, is uncertain.

The team could also cut one of the players below if they decide to pick up another player on waivers tomorrow. In other words, bubble players like RB Chauncey Washington, WR David Clowney and DB Brian Jackson aren't necessarily safe in the long run.

Here's the 53-man roster. For now. (The team will have an official announcement on the cuts later today after the league's official 6pm deadline).

QUARTERBACKS (3): Mark Sanchez, Mark Brunell, Kellen Clemens

RUNNING BACKS (5): Shonn Greene, LaDainian Tomlinson, Chauncey Washington, Danny Woodhead, Joe McKnight

FULLBACKS (2): Tony Richardson, John Conner

WIDE RECEIVERS (4): Jerricho Cotchery, Braylon Edwards, Brad Smith, David Clowney (Santonio Holmes doesn’t count against 53-man roster until he returns from his 4-game suspension). Woodhead can also play WR.

TIGHT ENDS (4): Dustin Keller, Ben Hartsock, Jeff Cumberland, Matt Mulligan

OFFENSIVE LINE (8): Nick Mangold, D’Brickashaw Ferguson, Brandon Moore, Damien Woody, Matt Slauson, Vladimir Ducasse, Rob Turner, Wayne Hunter

DEFENSIVE LINE (6): Kris Jenkins, Sione Pouha, Shaun Ellis, Vernon Gholston, Mike DeVito, Matt Kroul

CORNERBACKS (6): Antonio Cromartie, Kyle Wilson, Dwight Lowery, Marquice Cole, Brian Jackson, Drew Coleman

SAFETIES (4): Jim Leonhard, Eric Smith, Brodney Pool, James Ihedigbo

LINEBACKERS (8): David Harris, Bart Scott, Calvin Pace, Jason Taylor, Bryan Thomas, Jamaal Westerman, Kenwin Cummings, Lance Laury

SPECIALISTS (3): K Nick Folk, P Steve Weatherford, Longsnapper Tanner Purdum

Another quick rundown of the roster … this time with all the remaining players rather than the cuts list.

SECONDARY
(10 Total Roster Spots)

Pos
# Name Height Weight Age Years CB 0 24 Revis, D (inactive?) 5-11 200 25 4 CB 1 31 Cromartie, A 6-2 210 26 5 CB 2 20 Wilson, K 5-10 190 23 R CB 3 26 Lowery, D 5-11 198 24 3 CB 4 30 Coleman, D 5-9 180 27 5 CB 5 34 Cole, M 5-10 192 26 2 CB 6 40 Jackson, B 6-0 205 23 R S 1 36 Leonhard, J 5-8 188 27 6 S 2 22 Pool, B 6-2 214 26 6 S 3 33 Smith, E 6-1 207 27 5 S 4 44 Ihedigbo, J 6-1 214 26 4
Notes: That Brian Jackson made the team was a bit of a surprise to me and might only be around as long as Revis isn’t and maybe not even that long.

LINEBACKERS
(8 Total Roster Spots)

Pos
# Name Height Weight Age Years ILB 1 52 Harris, D 6-2 250 26 4 ILB 2 57 Scott, B 6-2 242 29 9 ILB 3 54 Cummings, K 6-3 250 24 2 ILB 4 56 Laury, L 6-2 242 28 5 OLB 1 97 Pace, C 6-4 265 29 8 OLB 2 58 Thomas, B 6-4 260 31 9 OLB 3 99 Taylor, J 6-6 250 35 14 OLB 4 55 Westerman, J 6-3 255 25 2 Notes: No surprises here, Lance Laury makes the squad as a core special teamer while Cummings will play specials and fill in as the team’s emerging backup ILB.

DEFENSIVE LINE
(6 Total Roster Spots)

Pos
# Name Height Weight Age Years RDE 1 92 Ellis, S 6-5 290 33 11 DT 1 77 Jenkins, K 6-4 360 31 10 LDE 1 70 DeVito, M 6-3 305 26 4 DL 2 91 Pouha, S 6-3 325 31 6 DL 3 50 Gholston, V 6-3 260 24 3 DL 4 93 Kroul, M 6-3 300 24 1 Notes: Matt Kroul was predicted to be a big help to this team by Mike Pettine back in the spring, and he’s made the final roster. Losing Ropati Pitoitua means that the team might yet address their depth at the 280+ 3-4 End / 4-3 Tackle spot. Ropati’s absence might have allowed the Jets to slip a player like RB Chauncey Washington onto the squad (for now).

There’s some degree of back and forth between the OLB/DE which is part of why the grouping looks small … it really only represents a portion of the entire group if you were to count Taylor, Pace and Thomas. With the line moving to more four man fronts in 2010, the linebacking corps was going to be a little lighter than it had been in the past.

OFFENSIVE LINE
(8 Total Roster Spots)

Pos
# Name Height Weight Age Years LT 1 60 Ferguson, D 6-6 310 26 5 LG 1 68 Slauson, M 6-5 315 24 2 C 1 74 Mangold, N 6-4 307 26 5 RG 1 65 Moore, B 6-3 305 30 8 RT 1 67 Woody, D 6-3 327 32 12 OL 2 75 Turner, R 6-4 308 25 3 OL 2 78 Hunter, W 6-5 318 29 7 OL 3 62 Ducasse, V 6-5 325 22 R
Notes: The team is going to carry eight, into the season. Ducasse will likely be the last man activated since Turner and Hunter can help on jumbo packages as extra TEs.

TIGHT ENDS
(4 Total Roster Spots)

Pos
# Name Height Weight Age Years TE 1 81 Keller, D 6-2 250 25 3 TE 2 84 Hartsock, B 6-4 268 30 7 TE 3 82 Mulligan, M 6-4 268 25 2 TE 4 86 Cumberland, J 6-5 260 23 R
Notes: Cumberland has done enough to make the unit, and he’s a player who I think the Jets would love to see learn more sound blocking techniques so that he could move up the roster next year. Cumberland might be a player we don’t see activated early on, but he’s a player that the Jets are concerned about exposing to the waiver wire process and they’ll do what they can to keep him as long as they can.

WIDE RECEIVERS
(4 Total Roster Spots)

Pos # Name Height Weight Age Years WR 1 89 Cotchery, J 6-0 203 28 7 WR 2 17 Edwards, B 6-3 214 27 6 WR 3 10 Holmes, S (susp.) 5-11 192 26 5 WR 4 16 Smith, B 6-2 212 26 5 WR 5 87 Clowney, D 6-0 187 25 3

Notes: I predicted this the other day … and it looks absurd to see four receivers on the roster. But with Santonio Holmes coming back Week 5 and Dustin Keller, LaDainian Tomlinson and Danny Woodhead also on the roster, there’s enough viable options (even if some of them are checkdowns) for the team to get them through the opening month. .

RUNNING BACKS
(7 Total Roster Spots)

Pos
# Name Height Weight Age Years RB 1 23 Greene, S 5-11 226 24 2 RB 2 21 Tomlinson, L 5-10 215 31 10 RB 3 25 McKnight, J 5-11 205 22 R RB 4 27 Woodhead, D 5-9 200 25 3 RB 5 32 Washington, C 5-11 215 25 2 FB 1 49 Richardson, T 6-1 240 38 16 FB 2 38 Conner, J 5-11 245 23 R

Notes: More Speaking of ridiculous … SEVEN backs? I’d love to know the statistic of when the last time an NFL roster carried this many backfield players. Carrying two FBs is odd enough … but five running backs? Bizzaro. But for the Jets, this is the right call. Based on who they had, based on the fact that they have two players they will be doing without at the start of the season in Revis and Holmes, and based on the fact that Woodhead is a quasi-slotback and Chauncey Played Like a Jet. This is the right call. I blasted the team yesterday for making a move that I thought would let McKnight skate, and while he’s still on thin ice, they’ve also rewarded the players that deserved it.

QUARTERBACKS
(3 Total Roster Spots)

Pos # Name Height Weight Age Years QB 1 6 Sanchez, M 6-2 225 23 2 QB 2 8 Brunell, M 6-1 215 39 18 QB 3 11 Clemens, K 6-2 220 27 5

Notes: While the Jets would have loved to have taken O’Connell forward, it didn’t make any sense to do it due to his shoulder injury and the fact that he was struggling when he did see the field. Clemens took the pay cut to stay on the roster, we’ll have to see what it means for him once he becomes a UFA.

SPECIALISTS
(3 Total Roster Spots)

Pos # Name Height Weight Age Years K 2 Folk, N 6-1 222 25 4 LS 46 Purdum, T 6-3 270 26 1 P 9 Weatherford, S 6-3 215 27 5

Notes: Stay tuned to see if the Jets make any moves, it looks like Folk won’t move soon, the Texans have added Kris Brown back on the IR due to his plantar fasciitis.
