santana Icon : (13 August 2016 - 06:07 PM) jets would get like a 6th rounder for him his value would be better on the bench
Chaos Icon : (13 August 2016 - 06:25 PM) yes, yes, let's cut the former 9th overall pick because he had a poor preseason game and deal with a no good $4M cap hit.
Chaos Icon : (13 August 2016 - 06:26 PM) who would you sign to be #2? or do you seriously think petty is good for the job?
santana Icon : (13 August 2016 - 06:37 PM) the backup is always ready for the job is the jets fan mantra
santana Icon : (13 August 2016 - 06:46 PM) I need a backup
santana Icon : (13 August 2016 - 06:46 PM) WHERES MY BACKUP
vjdbbq Icon : (15 August 2016 - 07:52 AM) Would someone scratch bobrob42 ?
ROBJETS Icon : (16 August 2016 - 03:33 AM) Az..... Apparently you didn't watch the Cowboys preseason game. Romo didn't play and their current backup played a good bit with starters and backups and he looked great. Almost like a veteran. They would have 0 interest in trading for Geno now.
vjdbbq Icon : (16 August 2016 - 01:57 PM) ROB is back ; ,how's the ass ?
Chaos Icon : (18 August 2016 - 12:18 PM) we need 1 more for fantasy football!

Chaos Icon : (22 August 2016 - 08:29 AM) it makes zero sense to cut them.
Chaos Icon : (22 August 2016 - 08:30 AM) this isn't fantasy. cutting players has an impact on the cap.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (22 August 2016 - 10:20 AM) becuase we need them
Chaos Icon : (23 August 2016 - 11:25 AM) DRAFT UPDATE:

ROBJETS Icon : (24 August 2016 - 11:20 AM) All the Sanchez fans saying he finally has good receivers so he will play well will probably finally have your eyes opened. Looking like he will likely be cut from the Broncos by the end of preseason. He already lost his starting job to the backup and the rookie qb is playing decent too
ROBJETS Icon : (24 August 2016 - 11:21 AM) Sanchez isn't starting this week and may not play at all
ROBJETS Icon : (24 August 2016 - 11:22 AM) SOURCE: NFL LIVE yesterday
ROBJETS Icon : (24 August 2016 - 11:24 AM) 3 turnovers and one td in 2016 preseason
santana Icon : (25 August 2016 - 07:20 AM) he will probably start until week 4 lol hes their geno smith

Jetsfan115 Icon : (25 August 2016 - 06:37 PM) Browns trade former first-round pick Barkevious Mingo to Patriots
Jetsfan115 Icon : (25 August 2016 - 06:37 PM) for a conditional draft pick
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 05:43 PM) enunwa out for tomorrows game. should give the young WRs some good reps with the first team. CUrious as to who starts in the slot. Will give a good idea of who the jets consider at the top of the group
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Today, 06:59 PM) Starting Offense is starting to worry me
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Today, 07:00 PM) I know its only preseason but they haven't done anything at this in 3 games

The numbers are trickling out on the Darrelle Revis contract, and for a four-year deal it's fairly complicated.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, here's the basic data on the Darrelle Revis deal: no signing bonus; 2010 base salary of $7.5 million; $18 million option bonus due on the first day year of the first league year after the 2010 league year ends (the language reflects the potential for a lockout); 2011 base salary of $7 million; 2012 base salary of $7.5 million; and 2013 base salary of $6 million.

That part is simple. Deciphering the guaranteed money makes it more complex.

Due to the 30-percent rule and the reallocation rule, the two sides had to apply some creativity. Before the option is exercised, the deal carries $13.772 million in 2013 base salary guaranteed for skill and $13.772 million in 2012 and 2011 base salary guaranteed for injury. The pre-option bonus base salaries ($10.06 million in 2011, $11.894 million in 2012, and $13.772 million in 2013) reduce to the lower numbers after the option is paid.

Following the exercise of the option, Revis has $6 million guaranteed for skill and $7.5 million guaranteed for injury.

And so, as of right now, Revis has $13.772 million in guaranteed money for skill and $13.772 million guaranteed for injury. As a practical matter, he'll get one or the other, if he's cut or if he suffers a career-ending injury.

After 2010, after he has earned $7.5 million in non-guaranteed base salary, he'll have $21.272 million earned or guaranteed.

After the option bonus is exercised, he'll have $25.5 million in his pocket plus $6 million guaranteed for skill and $7.5 million guaranteed for injury.

After the 2011 season, he'll have $32.5 million in his pocket, with $6 million still guaranteed for skill and $7.5 million still guaranteed for injury.

And that's the key. At the end of the 2011 season, Revis will have $32.5 million. That translates to $16.25 million per year -- higher than the $16.142 million that Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha will earn this year.

So how do the Jets protect themselves against Revis deciding after 2011 that he doesn't like the fact that he'll get only $13.5 million over the last two years of the deal? The answer is sufficiently interesting to justify a different post.

if he pulls this shit in 2 years i'm gonna be pissed, however by that time Aso will be a free agent and won't get offered near that amount as a 31 year old CB unless oakland does something stupid again plus baily and hall's numbers will be lower by then due to the front loaded deals they signed meaning the CB market won't be raised

That $18 million option bonus due on the first day of the next season slightly scares me considering it might be something Tannenbaum looks to renegotiate as it is an extremely large amount of money.
Saying that, there's no point looking that far ahead currently - we should be happy he's re-signed prior to the Ravens game.
