Thereís been a ton of NFL rumors floating around that Tom Brady would dare to leave his beloved New England Patriots over money. The penny pinching Pats may finally start realizing that paying their stars is inevitably worth it. Tom Brady is on the verge of a contract extension that is rumored to be in the neighborhood of three years with a price tag of $58 million. No other details are currently available.
Hell, we donít even know if itís true or not. What we know for certain is that New England has never shelled out the money necessary to keep players on board. Just ask Deion Branch and Asante Samuel.
Brady made waves as a team leader and all-round good dude when he took a huge pay cut to help New England acquire more players. Well they didnít really spend any of that saved cash, and Brady was there to see it. The fact that heís one of the best in the game and is due to make just $6 million this coming NFL season is unreal. Probably why he hasnít been able to afford a hair cut this summer.
Brady isnít the only offensive star thatís worried about being paid. Randy Moss has been telling the media that he feels like his days in New England are numbered.
Which should frankly stun people. Moss is 33-years old, Iíll give the Patriots that part, but heís far from being underproductive or a letdown. Moss has played three complete seasons in New England and we havenít heard a peep out of his immature nature since he arrived. In three NFL seasons, heís totaled 3,765 receiving yards, 250 catches and 47 touchdowns.
Productivity should be the least of it. Moss is still one of the most dangerous weapons in the entire sport, especially with Brady. Making bones about not being able to pay stars is one thing, but the Patriots canít afford to let either of these NFL rumors concerning Brady and Moss jumping ship come to pass.
Trying to find the money to appease Tom Brady will be their number one priority this off season, but Moss deserves to be paid as well. Even star offensive lineman Logan Mankins is on the verge of sitting out this season because he wants an extension of his own.
This is the tricky part Ė if Mankins isnít there to cover Bradyís flank, and Moss isnít happy, what are the chances that Brady either gets injured or has a dismal season? Heís not a magic man anymore. He needs weapons, which is exactly why New England went out and traded for Moss in the first place.
Even worse: what are the chances that the Patriots can overcome the Jets and Dolphins in the AFC East to make good on their +130 chances of winning the division with all this in-house turmoil?
When it comes to contract disputes, we usually talk about how greedy athletes and agents are. I mean, weíve been exposed to Darrell Revis, Vincent Jackson and Albert Haynesworth all summer. Itís enough to jade anyone close to sports, especially with the massive flood of information available at our fingertips.[/quote]
and people say we don't take care of own? we gave revis a raiser halfway through a 6 year deal and just made mangold the highest paid C and brick 10 mil a year. Just cause Leon? Look at what the pats did. brady took less money and the pats did nothign with it. didn't sign anyone or extend anyone. They traded a SB MVP WR with 20 catches instead of paying him, they traded seymour to the horrible raiders team instead of paying him. traded smaual to the eagles instead of paying him, etc etc. The jets take care of their own as best they can, the Pats don't even try. Don't you think if the jets had a brady-caliber QB with 1 year left we wouldn't extend him?

Ummmmmmmm yea, Ok their going to get rid of Brady. Puh-lease! Moss will be gone, Brady is there until Beli's gone.
My main thing was to show how the pats treat players badly but never get publisized yet we don't shell out 162 mil to revis and leon didnt take a contract and got hurt and were bad guys. The jets just resigned brick and mangold in the final year of their rookie deals and gave revis a nice raise 3 years into a 6 year rookie deal. we told harris he had to wait due to those 3.
The pats on the other hand asked brady to take less so they can keep more players and bring in free agnets and have done niether. they have drafted badly the past few years, and traded away core players instea dof paying them like branch, samuals, and seymour.
