Jets 0-2 vs bills this year. Does Rex Ryan survive the year?
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:45 AM) Jets starting Geno again.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:45 AM) FIRE IDZIK,
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:45 AM) I really hope the JEts completely clean house this offseason and get rid of everyone, it's time.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:54 AM) We need to keep getting embarrassed every week to ensure that. That is why I don't give a shit about getting destroyed, it makes the team look like more of a joke and forces Woody to make real changes
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:55 AM) Like how do you get blown out by a team that didn't practice while you had 2 weeks to prepare?
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:55 AM) That kind of stuff may force Woody to make the big changes and fire everyone
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:55 AM) John Idzik has handled the QB situation terribly. 2 times he pretty much handed the job to his draft pick
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:56 AM) Besides Sheldon Richardson, his drafts have been awful.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:57 AM) Maybe Woody will clean house and go all out for Jim Harbaugh, that probably won't happen though but it would be a franchise changer.
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:07 AM) Harbaugh would be amazing...but because it makes sense it won't be done
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:51 AM) According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets blocked coach Rex Ryan from talking to Mehta about a bye-week visit to his ailing father, legendary NFL defensive guru Buddy Ryan. Buddy, who rose to prominence as defensive coordinator of the ’85 Bears and then coached the Eagles and Cardinals, is battling cancer.
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:52 AM) Mehta interprets the muzzling of Rex Ryan as proof positive that, once the season ends, Ryan will no longer be the team’s head coach. Apparently, the team fears that Rex would become more sympathetic in the eyes of the fan base if he’s dumped by the team at a time when his father is fighting a serious illness.
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 11:05 AM) Mehta is an idiot
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 11:25 AM) If colt McCoy lights it up do the jets make a move?
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 11:27 AM) I don't even care what they do for a while
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 11:28 AM) The team is a catastrophe
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 11:29 AM) I didn't see the game
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 11:29 AM) I remember the first bills game though I'm guessing it was like that with more sleeping in the end zone
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 11:32 AM) I'm with 0099...I hope they keep getting destroyed
Chaos Icon : (Yesterday, 11:33 AM) it's a very Jets-esque move to sign McCoy if he does well
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 11:53 AM) I think they sign RGIII, Cutler, or Bradford
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 12:10 PM) why not all three
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 12:11 PM) Knowing this team, I wouldn't put that past them
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 02:07 PM) RAUL FOR QB
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 02:10 PM) the only real choice
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 02:10 PM) almost uefa time
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 02:11 PM) RAUL>SMITHSIAH, JUST ACCEPT IT
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 02:22 PM) FIRE IZDICK
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 04:07 PM) Rocking the atletico kit today 4-0 THE RAUL INFLUENCE
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:15 PM) Haha you should make that into some kind of logo and put it in your sig
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:15 PM) Sig***
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:19 PM) TEH RAUL INFLUENCE

During a training camp conversation with Bobby Bowden, Rex Ryan told the college coaching legend -- a one-day guest of the New York Jets -- that Santonio Holmes "might be the best player on the field." It was quite a statement, considering the talent on the roster -- a miked-up moment that made "Hard Knocks."

After a long wait, Holmes will get his chance to back up Ryan's words.

More from ESPNNewYork.com

The former Super Bowl MVP, whom the Jets acquired in April in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers, was reinstated Monday from a four-game drug suspension and will make his Jets debut next Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings.

"We shouldn't miss a beat with him," Ryan said. "To add a terrific player like Santonio to what we already have -- our offense is on a roll -- it's good. ... It should be fun to watch."

Holmes is new to the Jets' system, but he participated in the offseason program and the preseason. He also attended meetings during his suspension, a league-imposed sanction for violating the substance abuse policy. He wasn't allowed to practice with the team, but he will be on the field Wednesday, when the Jets (3-1) start their Vikings preparation.

It's another weapon for an offense that's averaging 32.3 points per game over the last three.

"Pretty scary," quarterback Mark Sanchez said after Sunday's 38-14 win over the Buffalo Bills.

The Jets knew about Holmes' looming suspension when they dealt a fifth-round pick to the Steelers, but they felt the reward was worth the risk.

Ryan was so excited when he found out that Holmes was available that he interrupted an interview in his office, ran upstairs to Mike Tannenbaum and told the general manager to make the deal. Ryan's endorsement included some salty language, his way of giving an emphatic thumb's up.

Now the question is: How do the Jets integrate Holmes -- a 1,200-yard receiver last season -- into the offense?

Clearly, it will mean less playing time for Brad Smith, the No. 3 receiver over the first month of the season. The fourth and fifth receivers, David Clowney and Patrick Turner, were waived Monday to make room on the roster for Holmes and defensive tackle Howard Green, who was re-signed.

Ryan said his advice for Sanchez is: "Just throw it to the open guy. Whoever's open, just throw it to him."

In the first four games, Sanchez spread the ball around to four primary receivers: tight end Dustin Keller (targeted 30 times), wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery (21), wide receiver Braylon Edwards (19) and running back LaDainian Tomlinson (19).

If they can keep their egos in check, and if coordinator Brian Schottenheimer can figure out a way to keep everyone involved, the passing game should continue to flourish.

Initially, Holmes probably will be used as the third receiver in three-receiver packages. Once he gets into football shape, it'll be hard to keep him off the field because he's probably the most complete receiver on the team. He caught 79 balls for 1,248 yards and five touchdowns last season.

Holmes' activation, combined with the likely returns of cornerback Darrelle Revis (hamstring) and linebacker Calvin Pace (foot), has bolstered the confidence level -- as if this team needed it.

"You add Santonio to the mix, we can be more explosive and add more diversity to the offense," right tackle Damien Woody said. "The sky's the limit for this offense right now."
