ROBJETS Icon : (24 December 2014 - 12:41 AM) And speaking of no salary cap that`s why the Yankees are the 4th richest team in all of pro sports in the world so they can buy any player they want with no salary cap in place. The other top three richest teams are European soccer teams

ets' Jenkins planning comeback from Week 1 knee injury

NEW YORK -- Kris Jenkins is not ready to call it a career.

The New York Jets' nose tackle announced Thursday that he will attempt another comeback, eager to play again despite sustaining a season-ending knee injury for the second straight year.

"Yes it is true," Jenkins wrote on his Facebook page Thursday night. "I have decided to give it one more shot."

He tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his surgically repaired left knee in the team's opener against Baltimore. He had surgery to repair the latest injury last week.

The 10-year veteran tore the same ACL midway through last season. He also tore the ACL in his right knee in 2005 while with Carolina.

"A couple of things," Jenkins wrote. "One, Yes I will wear knee braces; 2, I don't care who disagrees; 3, I am crazy enough to pull it off!!!!!"

The New York Times first reported Jenkins' decision on its official site.

Jenkins told the newspaper that his knee, repaired by using the patella tendon, had less damage than expected and feels stronger now than it did at the same point following the last injury.

"I'm in uncharted waters," Jenkins told the Times. "But I'm at the point where I don't care what anybody thinks."

Jenkins was hurt in the opening quarter -- the Ravens' sixth offensive play -- of the Jets' 10-9 loss when he was caught in a pileup on a tackle of fullback Le'Ron McClain.

He said in training camp that he used the time while he was rehabilitating last season to do some soul searching, and rededicated himself to football after contemplating retirement.

PS Chris just stay away from Bart he gets everyone hurt.

Time for Jenkins to go. He makes too much, misses too much time, and is getting too old. Oh, and our defense plays fine without him. Lack of Kris Jenkins has done nothing to stop us from being the best defense in the league for the last season and a half.

I know a lot of people are going to have that "yeah, I hope he comes back and show everyone how good he can be!" attitude, but it comes a time where teams have to cut their losses, and Jenkins' inability to stay healthy is doing nothing to help the Jets. Plus, with the possibility of no season next year, there is an extra incentive not to bother with him anymore.

I would welcome him back but we should not bank on him. Lets Aquire a DT through draft FA or trade. At this point we can not rely on him.
