MikeGangGree... Icon : (01 June 2016 - 09:22 PM) Sources told NY daily news.Fitzpatrick is about to sign 1 year deal
MikeGangGree... Icon : (01 June 2016 - 10:06 PM) We didn't have a slot WR last year also. I do Amaro steps up I really do like him
MikeGangGree... Icon : (02 June 2016 - 09:46 AM) Ok so the jets won't take the deal. My question is why?? 1 year 12 million when they are already offering him 12 million in his first year
Jetsfan115 Icon : (02 June 2016 - 01:24 PM) 2 reasons, 1st off for salary cap relief this year. we have no cap room this year but plenty next year. a multi year deal and backload the contract and 2, why pay a guy 12 mil for 1 year with no guarentee and go thorugh this again
Jetsfan115 Icon : (02 June 2016 - 01:24 PM) fitz said he'd take a 1 year deal but jets don't want that
Jetsfan115 Icon : (02 June 2016 - 01:25 PM) they should offer him a 3 years for 30 mil. 12 this year (half in the signing bonus for cap relief) 10 mil next year and 8 mil the 3rd year. 1st 2 years guarenteed (22 mil)
RetireChrebet Icon : (03 June 2016 - 03:37 AM) You know your fucked when the biggest offseason story is can we convince a journeyman QB whom singlehandedly threw us out of the playoffs last year to sign a deal worth way more than his actual value!
MikeGangGree... Icon : (03 June 2016 - 09:59 AM) Ok jets brothers I need fantasy football help. Who should I keep in my keepers league. We have to decide by July
MikeGangGree... Icon : (03 June 2016 - 10:00 AM) Should I keep Cam Gurley or Bell?
MikeGangGree... Icon : (03 June 2016 - 10:01 AM) Cam had a monster year last year and in our league it's 6 points per PassTd and cam is getting his best WR back.
MikeGangGree... Icon : (03 June 2016 - 10:01 AM) Gurley was a monster last year as a rookie
MikeGangGree... Icon : (03 June 2016 - 10:03 AM) Bell missed most of the year with a injury but it's also a PPR league. In only 6 games last year he =100 points
MikeGangGree... Icon : (03 June 2016 - 10:04 AM) Cam also had 45 total TDs last year
Jetsfan115 Icon : (03 June 2016 - 10:50 AM) I'd keep bell
Jetsfan115 Icon : (03 June 2016 - 10:50 AM) there are maybe like 5 #1 fantasy RBs at best and you need to start at least 2
Jetsfan115 Icon : (03 June 2016 - 10:50 AM) QBs are easier to find. I had cam in 2 leagues and drafted him way late. RBs are impossible to find late

By Steiny on Oct 19, 2010, 1:41 pm

In this week’s Sports Illustrated, 239 active NFL players were asked who the most overrated player in the league is.

Is Mark Sanchez overrated? Well, his peers think so.

The Jets second-year quarterback was tied for the third most overrated player in the NFL in Sports Illustrated’s annual players’ poll. Sanchez and Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth each received five percent of the votes. In other words, 12 of 239 players polled selected Sanchez.

Bengals wide receiver Terrell Owners was voted the most overrated among players with 14 percent of the vote. His former quarterback Tony Romo received 7 percent of the vote. Former Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning was named the fifth most overrated despite passing for more than 4,000 yards last season.

It's only his second year in the league so how can he be overrated? I think Mark knows he has plenty he can improve on. Over his career so far his stats may not be so great, but to help put up 13 wins in your first 21 starts, plus leading his team to two playoff victories suggests he is on the right track.

What about him is overrated though? And 239 out of 1,696 players...whatever. He's a second year QB, nobody is claiming he is Peyton.

Definitely sounds like some people are drinking the haterade. Where is Sanchez overrated? No one has said that he's so great. There have been experts and analysts that have said that he has matured and that he is ahead of many second year QB's. So what? They're right. Many QB's hit a sophomore slump, but Sanchez hasn't done that YET. Maybe he had that a year ahead of time in his rookie year while finding success due to the defense.

I believe a big part of it his the team that Sanchez is playing with. With almost every quarterback that gets drafted high they don't have a supporting cast to succeed. Not only does Sanchez have that, but he doesn't have to be the guy and win games, he just needs to not turn the ball over. At some point, probably this season, he is going to have to put up numbers. This is the NFL after all. But as of right now, he just needs to make his reads and not force anything for a big play.

I agree with everything you've said. But for people to say he's overrated is ridiculous. He's a 2nd yr QB that is doing exactly what he needs to in order to improve rather than fall backwards in his progresion as a QB in this league.

FYI you need to read the article. This vote was taken during the preseason so its based on last season only.

That honestly makes the article even more ridiculous if it's based on his rookie year.

That's true, but Sanchez did receive a lot of attention his roookie season. It's hard not to believe that NFL veterans get frustrated when rookies get hyped up. If I wasn't a Jets fan and looked primarily at statistics, I would vote Sanchez overrated as well.

That was a big WTF? moment for me this morning. Eli and Romo? Okay. Sanchez?

But this is really just Jets-hate. Mark was being blown up by a lot of people saying it wasn't impressive that he hadn't thrown an Int before last game, but the same people killed him for his Int numbers last year while Stafford got his butt rubbed despite throwing as many Ints in five less games.

Ridiculous. Haha.
