vjdbbq Icon : (22 June 2016 - 07:29 AM) No Mario ; you will be there alone .
MikeGangGree... Icon : (25 June 2016 - 07:15 PM) FIRE FITZPATRICK
MikeGangGree... Icon : (30 June 2016 - 12:00 PM) Sheldon Richardson suspended for 1 game for violating league substance abuse policy
ganggreen2003 Icon : (15 July 2016 - 04:06 PM) The JETS shouldn't of signed wilkerson to such a big contract
ganggreen2003 Icon : (15 July 2016 - 04:07 PM) he doesn't deserve $17 mil/year cause he is coming off an injury...he should of earned it by playing this year as the Franchise tag and then if he played lights out then you open the vault
MikeGangGree... Icon : (15 July 2016 - 04:21 PM) WOOOOOOOO
RetireChrebet Icon : (15 July 2016 - 04:58 PM) How much guaranteed money? also does this mean hes here for 6 years since he's tagged? how does that work?
MikeGangGree... Icon : (15 July 2016 - 10:20 PM) Now cut that street thug Wilkerson!!
NJAzrael71 Icon : (16 July 2016 - 03:47 AM) 54 million guaranteed
NJAzrael71 Icon : (16 July 2016 - 03:48 AM) 54 guaranteed against injury but 37 in straight guaranteed money without injury
NJAzrael71 Icon : (16 July 2016 - 03:49 AM) Should've waited till after the season to see how he comes off the injury but I guess they figure he wouldn't have signed if they waited another year
vjdbbq Icon : (17 July 2016 - 07:32 PM) Where is ROB and his ass ?
Jetsfan115 Icon : (18 July 2016 - 10:27 AM) guess that means richardson is gone after this season. Maybe we can franchise and trade him
Jetsman05 Icon : (22 July 2016 - 08:52 AM) whos running fantasy football league this year? brotana?
Jetsfan115 Icon : (22 July 2016 - 10:25 AM) darron lee still isn't signed... greedy street thug lol
MikeGangGree... Icon : (22 July 2016 - 05:31 PM) Rich is under contract for next year and we used a team option for 17 already so he's a jet for 2 more year's for sure unless we trade him.
MikeGangGree... Icon : (23 July 2016 - 02:38 PM) We need to quit screwing around and sign Fitzpatrick
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (24 July 2016 - 11:34 AM) Jets salary cap situation is tough next season, gonna have to make adjustments
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (24 July 2016 - 11:35 AM) the contract for Wilkerson is actually pretty good for both sides, after the first couple seasons nothing is guaranteed and they can cut him.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (24 July 2016 - 11:36 AM) the jets probably should trade Richardson, hopefully he has a monster season and we have tons of leverage and deal him off for ransom
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (24 July 2016 - 11:36 AM) Because we cannot afford to keep everyone on the DL
Jetsfan115 Icon : (25 July 2016 - 10:20 AM) we have 20 mil in space next offseason and not many people to sign. We should be ok next year. this year was worse. we could tag and trade richardson if need be. I think he will be gone too
vjdbbq Icon : (26 July 2016 - 07:28 AM) WE NEED FITZ WE NEED FITZ WE NEED FITZ
MikeGangGree... Icon : (26 July 2016 - 09:51 AM) Yes we do need Fitz
Jetsfan115 Icon : (26 July 2016 - 10:58 AM) devin hester got cut by ATL today, anyone think we should grab him for special teams?
vjdbbq Icon : (26 July 2016 - 01:56 PM) Grab hester immediately
vjdbbq Icon : (26 July 2016 - 01:56 PM) GM Mike , GET HESTER

santana Icon : (26 July 2016 - 03:05 PM) Jets don't need Hester. KR is really just not a priority in The nfl anymore

Gholston has had the worst first 2 + years of any DE/OLB drafted in the first round for the 2000-2009 decade. as per Football Outsiders...

In all seriousness, I was looking at NYJETSCAP.com, and if I read it right, evn if Rex were to cut ties with him next season....he would account for 5.8 million in dead money, which could have been used on one of the WR's Santonio/Braylon...or Cromartie...

These rookie contracts, especially when a team has a top 10 pick really can hamper a team's future...as shown by this example...

The guy just ISN't a player.....Not to beat a dead horse, I think we can see it with our own eyes....

Any thoughts?

Jason Fitzgerald- NYJETSCAP.com: Gholston had three years remaining on his contract with $5.9 million dollars in guaranteed salary. In addition if he participated in a certain percentage of the defensive snaps he earned a guaranteed bonus of about $3.6 million plus a number of pay raises in the last two years of his deal. That playtime based incentive, which is commonplace in all first round rookie contracts, was really limiting what the Jets could do with him. Had the Jets decided to cut Gholston after this season he would have counted for over $7 million in dead cap space, and potentially as high as $10.5 million had he seen significant playtime in 2010.

What the Jets did in the renegotiation was front Gholston a significant sum of money in the form of a $4 million dollar signing bonus and 500K pay raise for 2010. In return Vernon gave up the guaranteed playtime bonus, which allows the Jets to actually give him a chance to play without the financial commitment. The dead cap charge of releasing him would now be under $6 million dollars in 2011.

The Jets also added incentives to get him to play well if he wants to earn more money. Gholston has a $2.5 million dollar roster bonus due of the first day of the league year in 2011 and that figure can grow based on playtime and on field performance. He has a similar bonus in 2012. If Gholston continues his invisible man act on the field he will never see a penny from the Jets in 2011 and he will be cut the day before the bonus is due, similar to why the team released Thomas Jones and Lito Sheppard this
year.

Jets DE Vernon Gholston will collect $6.5 million this season, but the team can easily cut ties with him next year.
Per his restructured contract, Gholston's base salary drops from $2.25 million this season to $550,000 next season. He's also due a $2.5 million roster bonus in March of 2011, which the Jets have the right to not exercise. Gholston's value is on the rise in New York after the year-ending injury to Ropati Pitoitua, but he remains undersized for his new position at defensive end. The former No. 6 overall pick did record five tackles on Saturday night.

I don't think ANYONE would have guessed that Gholston would have been THIS bad. I started off liking him, then became somewhat lukewarm about him, then once we did get him I had hoped he was that pass rusher we have been looking for. This guy is the biggest waste of talent I have ever seen, he looks the part but just can't play the game.

Hopefully we can draft a real pass rusher pretty soon, I want someone who teams have to game plan against and can wreck havoc in the backfield and get to the QB when we need to. Like John Abraham back in the day, but someone that stays healthy and is tougher.

Sorry, not to sound all high n mighty but I had a strong feeling hed be a no show. I said it on here from day one hed be a bust and i hope id be wrong, but apparently not. He only showed up for 2 games his senior year, and he had a history of being lazy, that doesnt fly in the pros. That shouldnt fly anywhere. yea he is a physical speciman but there have been infamous players like that who were busts as well in the NFL. I wanted ANYONE other than Gholoston in that draft. he just struck me as the kind of guy that would dissapear and give up, and thats what hes done.

Ghost= look like Tarzan play like Jane, as classic of exapmle as they come.

Even thinking he would be bust I don't think anyone would have predicted he would have zero impact and not get a sack. I remember Hurricane not being a fan of his, but I don't think he thought he be this bad.

I wrote like a 3 paragraph topic on why I thought that Gholston would crap out the day after the draft... but no I didnt think he'd be dead weight to this extent.

Normally when a player is taken that high in the draft the player can contribute at some level. When I think of Vern I think of Ryan Leaf. Kinda sad actually. He has all the tools with no idea how to use them. Bryan Thomas was considered a let down but has been very servicable his whole career.
