Early struggles on the Jets' offensive line were due to unfamiliarity, but as new OLG Matt Slauson has played more, the unit has begun to jell. One player who has really stood out is OLT D'Brickashaw Ferguson, who made the Pro Bowl in 2009 and could be looking at a return trip there. Now in his fifth season, Ferguson has taken on a leadership role, mentoring Slauson as the year has progressed, developing a tandem on the left side of the line similar to what Ferguson and Alan Faneca had for the past two seasons. Ferguson has made a huge impact in the team's last two wins. In Week Five, he dominated the Vikings' Jarred Allen, as the Pro Bowl defensive end had no quarterback pressures. In the Week Six game at Denver, RB LaDainian Tomlinson followed the 310-pound tackle to the second level, waiting for Ferguson to clear out some Broncos defenders before sprinting into the endzone on a 20-yard TD run.

Nick and Brick are the leaders on this team. That's why I never bought into the "Oh my... the Jets are doomed after trading Fanny".. BS. Fanny was a liability because of his age. Mangold and Brick are getting paid too much money not to be leaders of their group.
