Jetsfan115 Icon : (29 April 2016 - 09:02 PM) I said the rumor was they liked him more then cook
Mr_Jet Icon : (29 April 2016 - 11:35 PM) I know I'm biased, but I've seen them both play. Cook is just better. Hackenberg had one good year. Cook has won more games, played in big games and won them....whatever, its done now so no sense on dwelling on it I guess. I just don't see the appeal in Hackenberg, nice kid, but I always thought he was really overrated. Oh well. I would have taken Kevin Hogan over Hackenberg.
azjetfan Icon : (30 April 2016 - 03:47 PM) From what I have read so far he had a great freshman year under Obrien in a pro style offense. At that point some considered him the next Andrew luck. Then Obrien left and they shifted to a spread under new HC who did poor job bringing in talent. He was also sacked and hit a million times. Might be shell shocked.
Smedsthejet Icon : (01 May 2016 - 06:17 AM) But Chan Gailey runs a spread system - still, I'm comfortable with the Hackenberg pick seeing as Gailey will develop the system to suit his strength... I'm just glad that we passed on Paxton Lynch in the first...we still desperately need Fitz to re-sign though
azjetfan Icon : (01 May 2016 - 07:14 PM) From my understanding the spread in college and the spread in NFL are not the same principals. I really think it was more of a talent issue and getting sacked 80 times in 2 years that did him in. I have no idea if he will make it. I don't follow college ball enough to to know. Theses are just things I read in articles.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (02 May 2016 - 10:24 AM) I'm stoked about getting peake in the 7th round. that was a steal. he was a projected 3rd rounder. wonder what scared teams away

Jetsfan0099 Icon : (03 May 2016 - 05:16 PM) The Jets had Hackenberg as their #2 rated QB
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (03 May 2016 - 05:16 PM) Apparently, they loved Golf and tried to trade up. When that failed, their #2 QB was Hackenberg, they fell in love with his football IQ
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (03 May 2016 - 05:17 PM) It would be a mistake to start him right away, hes a guy who needs development. He has the talent, and apparently he has good leadership skills and football IQ. His mechanics are off though

What happened to not wanting to play in a 3-4?

randy moss version 2.0? This is one of the most surprising moves i've seen since I've started watching football. The dude said he hated playing in a 3-4. I'm assuming they'll be using him as a 3-4 DE. But having wilfork and hanesowrth will allow them to have a pretty nice interior in some 4-3 fronts. Lots of flexibility.

I'm not going to be naive and say this move isn't a big deal. The pats have a track record for these kind of situations. Its our turn to step up and get nnamdi now.

Pats play more 4-3 than 3-4 recently and I'm sure they'll continue that trend with this move

Yup this is easily the biggest move of FA. If Belichick and Brady light a fire under Fat Albert our o-line better be up for the task. Fat Albert is going to be going for blood this season and Jets have to deal with him at least twice.

Just heard Marcus Stroud failed his physical. So this could be a bit of desperation move. I know Haynesworth is better than Stroud, but they needed him badly looks like.

Bilichick will get this guy playing football and either using him as a dt with wilfork or spelling him. It seems all 3-4 teams play some 4-3 so.... If Fat Albert goes there motivated, bad news but the good news is that the pats must have to eat the remainder of his contract. The skins are probably happier about this than NE. This furthurs my no aso talk. We have no DL and depth is needed on the OL. We have been so lucky the past 3-4 years with Woody being the only starter to miss any starts and that was only last year. I would love Nmandi if we could afford him but I personally don't see it happening

Conflicting reports in the papers up in Pats land regarding Stroud's future with the team.

One other thing. Haynesworth may wind up reporting to camp like he did last year. Kinda doubt the pats didn't do their diligence on him but who knows in this crazy week.

This guy is a bum. I remember hearing him playing in the preseason against 2nd and 3rd stringers and couldn't do a damn thing.

I hope he tears that locker room up. The guy is not the same guy he was when he played for the Titans. I'm really not worried.

I'm worried

I still remember him as a titan

No one counts the redskins as an actual pro team they are just an investment move for NFL players

Presumably they'd just release him if he's any trouble. I'm sure they're willing to swallow a 5th rounder for him; it's not as if the Pats have been short of draft picks the past couple of years.

Doubt this will amount to much. Dillion and Moss gave them the rep of turning around trouble players, but those guys had motivational issues (and, Dillion was bitter about being the only star on an awful team-call it Lebron issues), not personality disorders like Haynesworth has.
