I remember when I first heard about the planes hitting the World Trade Center as I was on the gun range down in Camp Lejeune, NC and just hoping that my mother was nowhere near the WTC and luckily she worked uptown and not downtown at the time. I knew as soon as I heard that this had happened that Osama Bin Laden had been the mastermind behind it because I remember back in 1993 when the bombing of WTC had happened cause where I went to HS I was able to see the Towers on a clear day. But on 9/11/01 I know that the world I lived in had changed and I knew that we were just thrust into war and being stationed with the Marines and just coming off a deployment a few months earlier that we were probably going to get called to head right to Afghanistan but I unfortunately didn't get to go with my unit because I was already under orders to head to RI so I was actually going to be leaving NC in a few weeks after 9/11 had occurred. But I knew that my unit was going to make a difference in the war on terror right after we had been attacked on that September morning. 10 years later I know that our military completed our mission by taking out Osama Bin Laden but I also know that it would never bring back those who unfortunately lost their lives that Tuesday morning. I will never forget that day and I know as a native New Yorker it hit me square in the chest when we were attacked at our core at the World Trade Center. As the 10th anniversary approaches remember those who died and who gave their lives trying to save those in the towers and at the pentagon and in the field at Shanksville, Pa. 9/11/01 Always Remember Never Ever Forget
