From the New York Daily News

Quote

Soulja Boy is waving a white flag.

The rap artist is apologizing to the entire U.S. military after drawing ire for condemning troops in a recent online video.

In the clip, Soulja Boy raps lyrics to a new song, in which he says, "F--k the FBI and the army troops ... fighting for what? Be your own man."

But in a blog posting on GlobalGrind.com, he's changing his tune.

"As an artist, I let my words get the best of me," wrote Soulja Boy. "Sometimes there are things that we feel, things that we want to express, and when we put them on paper and speak them out loud, they can come out wrong.

"When I expressed my frustration with the US Army, not only did my words come out wrong, I was wrong to even speak them," he added. "So, I write this to give my sincerest apology to all members of the United States military services, as well as their families that were offended by my most recent lyrics.

"I have seen thousands and thousands of our brave men and women get killed in battle and often times, I think for what? A lot of people in this country are struggling to make ends meet and I think a lot about what if we had never gone to war."

After Soulja Boy's insenstive rap, real soldiers blasted the artist, who was also recently caught lying about purchasing a $55 million private jet.

"It's a very offensive statement ... especially with the tenth anniversary of 9/11 coming up," Fred A. Flores, a retired Marine, told TMZ. "[The rap] is very irresponsible."

Me thinks it was the P.R. department at his record label that really wrote that apology. Just another reason for me not to like him.

What a tool. Yeah f*** the Army. They only give their lives so you can continue your shitty rapping career.

It is better to destroy than create what is meaningless, so the picture will not be finished.

This is surprising because I didn't think anyone actually listened to him to even get offended in the first place.

Fuckin kid is just so used to living in the free-world. It's free for reason dumbass. Men and women have died so he can sit on his ass, make horrible music and drink sizzurp.

Honestly this really bothers me deeply. He should be shot.

Diss the people that defend your way of life? Diss the people that put their lives on the line everyday? Diss the people that leave their family so you can make your millions?

Classy.

I really don't know. It's not like he's a bad-ass going around toting guns getting into brawls, stabbing and shooting incidents and all that. He's a country-ass kid that made a lot of money by himself really, using youtube as his media outlet. So I personally respect that aspect. However, I find it offensive when artists don't know when to shut up and can't rationalize what they should or shouldn't say. It really bothers me deeply when artists like him think they have power, when they think there word means something. He's lot a political style rapper like Pac was, or other singer/songwriters that like to write about the world, real life matters, politics and history.

Some artists just need to stick to what they do. Rap about totally irrelevant sh*t and get money, rap about "Soljah got da juice" and "Zan wit dat lean". It's worked so far for him and he's stupid rich. He needs to stay in bounds with his lyrics. No one cares what he says half the time because people look at him like a dummy, but when you start talking about real things KEEP YOUR IGNANT MOUTH SHUT!
