I think I remember McCain running on a platform of changing campaign financing. Too bad we got Change instead.

You mean the same John McCain that received millions of dollars in corporate donations in 2008? McCain may have talked about campaign finance reform back in 2000 but after Bush beat him, he sold out and he actively sought and received millions in corporate donations in 2008 just like the other major candidates did. He's a hypocrite who would have sold his daughter to the Koch brothers if it would have made him president.

If you can't beat them, join them. The only way you can change the system sometimes is to be part of it. As for selling out one's daughters... I seem to remember seeing a lot of Obama's on the campaign trail and not once since...

Only problem with the "if you can't beat them, join them" philosophy to change things from the inside, is many politicians once they get that taste of power it goes right to their heads. They get to Washington and soon find out a freshman congressman or freshman senator has very little power to get anything done. The ones with the real power to move legislation are the party leaders and committee chairman who have already been there for years even decades. Then of course to even get elected in the first place you have to sell out and take money from people and groups who are going to want a "return on their investment" once you take office. That's why many corporations give to both the Democrat and the Republican in certain races. They want to make sure which ever candidate wins, returns their phone calls once their in office. So politicians are already indebted to their big money donors before they even get sworn in. They're not going to change a system that already benefits them personally once they take office. The only time real change has happened in this country is when large groups of the American public make their voices heard by using their first amendment rights. Washington rarely does the big things without having to be forced into action by the public first.

In regards to McCain selling his daughter I was implying he'd be willing to sell something that means a lot to him to become president. I could have said his mother or his military medals instead. McCain sold out his center-right principals to keep his almost bankrupt campaign going.
