Time to cultivate Bryce Petty or write the season off. We are behind in the conference tie breakers already as it will surely come down to that if we are to make a wild card. Yesterday was one of those games where I didn't even have the slightest feeling they were going to come back.

Peyton Hillis?

He only had one good year and is supposedly a locker room detractor but being in Cleveland and not getting a new contract would piss me off too. He fell out to the Madden Curse and will hit the FA market likely looking for a 1 year deal.

He's much stronger than Greene and a much better pass catcher. North-South runner.

For a one year deal to prove himself, what's the downside?

Depends on what the Jets have to give up or how much money to get him.

Locker room issues? Just what the Jets need.

He's a UFA so it won't cost us anything in terms of compensating the Browns. On paper, he has 1 good year and basically hardly played this year. There isn't a huge market for RBs coming off of terrible seasons. I'm pretty sure he'll end up with a 1 year deal.

I'll take him. I don't think he should be our first rb option in the off season, but if we've looked around a little and couldn't find a new solid starter, i would definitely take him. He has the potential to be a top 10 back

Not a bad idea but it's a hard sell when the guy has locker room issues or is it just the guy has Cleveland Brown issues. A lot of players are happier when they leave Cleveland. See Bray Bray, Shaun Rogers and so on. I'd take a flyer on this guy.

After going with RBs in the back to back drafts, I doubt we pick out up. Who's on the FA market?

Ray Rice will be tagged
Arian Foster is a RFA
Matt Forte will be resigned
Mike Tolbert will be resigned
Marshawn Lynch... maybe
Brandon Jacobs... no thanks
Ryan Grant... what has he done
Tashard Choice was someone I liked, but I dunno if he was anything good.
Thomas Jones is going to be available LMAO

Foster being a RFA, what would a team have to give up to get him?

I believe when the Jets signed Curtis Martin from New England he was also a RFA, dont remember what they gave up

Greene>Hillis.

I like how Madden decided sacrificing one-year wonders to their cover was a better idea than putting actual stars on the front.

Madden is about selling a video game, not gauging a player's impact on his teams performance over a prolonged period of time.

Putting a one year wonder from one of the least popular teams (in a one of the league's smallest cities) in the sport instead of a star sells video games?

It was a dumb move on EA's part.

It would be the second time we pick up a guy who's been on the Madden cover.... Cause it worked out sooooo well the first time. :no_way:
Fifteen years ago after an especially disappointing loss to Miami, Esiason, then the Jets' quarterback, was making the seven-mile drive from the Meadowlands back to Manhattan.
While he was slogging through stop-and-go traffic at the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel, the car next to him was violently rear-ended. The quarterback threw his car into park, hopped out and ran to the woman whose car had been hit. She was wearing, of all things, an Esiason jersey, and was utterly shocked when he tapped on her window to check on her.
"Are you OK?" he said, trying to keep calm. "Are you OK?"
"Boomer? Is that you?" she asked the Good Samaritan, sounding disoriented. "I think I'm OK, but . ... "
But what?
"But you guys sucked."
Welcome to the New York Jets, Tim Tebow.

We make a trade. We don't bust the bank with Greene on our roster. We ship his slow ass outta here, plus a pick or two, and go after an accomplished back whose got 2 or so years left on his contract. So we get instantly better, and it doesn't put as much pressure on our line to block for a mediocre RB.

Also, Mark is helped with a better receiver out of the backfield because Greene is not so much on those. I just tried finding some stats on how many drops he had but I couldn't find it. If anyone out there could find that, that would be sweet and I would very much like to know his reception %

None of that is going to matter. Greene is going to run in ways where he succeeds. Greene had a 4.2 average this year, he isn't slow. Drop all those plays where he started to one side of Mark in shotgun and was run to the opposite tackle and everyone would say he was an underutilised beast. He also needs carries; he gets more dangerous the more he pounds it.

I think it is funny that people pay lip service to the notion that the game starts on the line and then focus on "skill" positions. I'd rather be the early decade Chiefs (when people thought Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson were both once-in-a-lifetime backs) than some goober team with a "talented" back who is making 10 million a year waiting to get his knee buckled backwards.

And I am also not too worried about Greene's ability to catch now that Schotty is out of town. No need to misuse players Sporano!

Arent we pretty much all set at Rb? greene, mcknight, and powell. Iam hoping more along the lines we pick up a quality Olinemen. And keep turner, hunter and ducasse for some kind of depth cause we have none as it is.And that really seem to hurt us having no depth whats so ever.

Hillis was a complete bust for the browns this year
He should of been the weapon bailing out McCoy but instead was slowed down by injuries and contract issues

It could potentially be another head case for the jets

I could see him being resigned or signed else where for a single year
He would make a good steeler or Viking

Hills and ap would bruise a defense

Neither have break away td speed though

Bruising is all they would do with the exception of McKnight of course

I'm excited for the new offense hopefully McKnight will gain a more productive roll and turns into the breakaway back we need
