Chaos Icon : (Today, 09:14 AM) now that would be a fairly big move
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 09:46 AM) If they trade Suh to get Watkins, I would laugh. That doesn't really make their team better, they already have a high yardage passing attack
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 09:47 AM) They have the best WR in football and they signed Tate who will be a excellent #2 to Johnson
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 09:53 AM) too many smokes screens. f*** the extra 2 weeks of this shit, the draft should be tonight!

Buying NFL merchandise, tickets, Sunday Ticket from Direct TV, etc. is supporting the NFL. Buying Pepsi, Dorritos, Budweiser, Goodyear, Reebok, etc. is supporting the NFL. People who don't even like football support the NFL. Anyway it doesn't change the fact that the most popular sport's league in the U.S. practices a form of socialism. Remember that the next time you buy a Jets fill in the blank you're also supporting the other 31 teams in the league too. ESPECIALLY if you have Sunday Ticket.

I can choose to purchase NFL products. I can't choose not to pay taxes.

You can choose not pay taxes if you don't want to. There are ways to get around it, just ask Mitt Romney how to do it.

But you bitching about taxes (as usual) is not the point. The point is the NFL practices socialism and is still the most popular sport in the U.S.A. And people who bitch and moan about how we need to keep America free of socialism and Obamacare are bailing out car companies and yada yada yada Obama's an illegal alien Muslim too and git 'er done yeehaa. Those are the folks who just love the NFL which is a socialist organization. The NFL takes from the rich franchises and gives to the poor franchises.

The best line in that video was when Maher said the Republicans would call making the Super Bowl winner pick last in the first round of the draft "punishing success."

Are you looking to stir the pot here? Maher is the Democrates version of Hannity. They are both asses looking to make a buck with there mouths. Comparing a business to our government is a poor attempt to prove a point. You can do better.

No I cant. I dont make enough to use the loop holes and foriegn investments. I do take advantage of all of the retirement breaks I can though. I would be an idiot not to.

I may bitch about being over taxed which I am but at least I am not on here crying for socialism so I dont have to be my own man, support myself and take responsibility for my future. I don't blame the big bad rich for all my problems and ask my government for handouts.

It was a joke. Boy, and you complained about me not being able to take a joke. Maher for one thing admits he's a comedian first. Hannity's never done stand-up on the Johnny Carson show. That's like trying to compare Chris Rock to Bill O'Reilly. Maher appears on HBO (an entertainment channel), Hannity appears on the Fox "NEWS" Channel (a channel that's supposed to be a news channel). There's a difference between what the two do. Maher tries to use comedy to be a little informative, Hannity tries to use news to try to reinforce the beliefs his viewers already have. But Hannity is not an ass, he's a dick. An ass doesn't always mean to be an ass, a dick purposely tries to be a dick. From some of Maher's comments (like the one about Elizabeth Hasselbeck), he can be a dick too. But he'd probably admit it though unlike Hannity.

But comparing a business to our government is wrong? Is that what you're saying? Because Mitt Romney has based his whole campaign on how his business experience qualifies him to run the government. So apparently Republicans think business experience qualifies a person to run the government. It's never worked out for America economically before (Herbert Hoover, George W. Bush). I guess they think the third time will be a charm.

Last week it was "Let's Stay Together." This week it should be Barry White's "Practice What You Preach." Reagan was a piece of shit (not my words BTW).

So wait you're saying there are some people in society that use their money and power to influence our government to make sure they pay as little in taxes as possible? Thus leaving the tax burden on the people who unlike them don't have enough money to influence the government for their benefit. That's a fucked up system!!! Somebody should say or do something to try to put an end to shit like that. Maybe we should go down to some park near....I don't know Wall Street, then camp out there and....oh forget it that sounds like too much trouble.

Now in November when you go to vote you remember those tax loopholes and foreign bank accounts that you can't take advantage of but some other folks in this country can take advantage of cough...Romney.

When you drive to work tomorrow morning remember to thank American socialism for that road you're driving on. Oh wait what am I saying you're your own man so you paid for that road all by yourself, I forgot. Yeah I'm sure you don't use or benefit from anything the government paid for. I guess none of your co-workers ever went to a public school either. They all went to private schools from K through college. But you remember in November that some people in America are paying a lower tax rate than you are, people who make a lot more than you do and could afford to take some of that tax burden off your shoulders cough...Romney. But I guess that would just be "punishing success" because of "envy" so never mind. If you didn't have the government paying for the shit you take for granted everyday you'd be bitching about how somebody needs to do this and that. Somebody needs to make sure that steak I bought yesterday is safe to eat. Somebody needs to put these bad ass little kids playing in the middle of the street in a building with bunch of books in it. Somebody needs to pay my senior citizen parents health care costs because I can't do it alone.

I have said it before and will say it again. I know we need some government. 1/2 your rant we agree about. What we dont agree about is how involved the government should be in our lives. That involvement costs alot of money. That raises taxes.

A business is only after turning a profit. Thats why it is there. Government is there to work for the people. Big difference. You keep bringing up Romney for some reason. I have not said who I will be voting for. I will say nobody is the perfect candidate. One thing we know for sure is Obama failed at leading us the past three years. He has torn the 2 sides so far apart he will never be able to get anything done. If he did everything he said in his State of The Union Speech he would be re-elected. But he wont and he will blame the Reps. Even though he drew the line in the sand.

Which is why businessmen/women should not run a government. Government WAS suppose to be there to work for the people. Now gov't works for big business because they've bought the government. We're just the middlemen that elects the ones who looks the least dirty after months of mud slinging, pandering, hypocrisy, and back stabbing between the two sides. But please you know you're going to vote for Romney because you're the type of guy he's targeting. You are the type of voter that he would give his left nut up for to get your vote. He will do and say anything to you to get you to vote for him because he knows you're not voting for Obama. You've already made up your mind about that, so he's going to go after voters like you. he's going to tell you anything you want to hear and hopes you don't do too much digging into his record as Governor of Massachusetts. And what other option do you have in a two party system? Obama or Romney, that's it in this system. Now I'm not advocating you should vote for Obama either because I could go on a rant about him too.

But you want to blame President Obama for failing to lead the past 3 years. Well he's had plenty of help with that. What have the Republicans in congress done to lead? They've had control of the House for over a year now and all they've done this past year is go on a record number of vacation days and when they actually do show up for work, they just say no to everything the President says and regurgitates the Bush agenda as a "better alternative." That's like putting a ribbon and glitter on an old turd. Those policies didn't work then and they won't work now. Especially considering those were the same shitty policies that created this mess in the first place. It's Boehner and McConnell's jobs to lead too since they are leaders in one of our 3 branches of government. What have they done to lead? Hell McConnell hasn't even tried to sugar coat it. He's said flat out his number one agenda is to make Obama a one term president. Now think about that statement for a moment. And you're blaming Obama for tearing the two sides apart? They never gave the negro a chance from day one. So don't blame the president for not being bipartisan. IMO he's tried to be too bipartisan especially considering they've made it very clear they don't want to work with him. The Republican plan in congress from day one of the Obama presidency was to sit on their hands, say no to everything, obstruct everything, and wait until election day 2012 and hope he loses re-election so they can return to the Bush years part II. What have they done in good faith to work with the president that wasn't about extending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy and trying to cut funding to Medicare and privatize Social Security? It's the Bush agenda they've been offering and the majority of Americans in 2008 said we don't want that anymore (and most Americans never really did want it).

If I look at the body of work that Obama has put forth it will be hard to vote for him. That leaves Romney. I understand the games that these guys play when trying to get elected.

Quote

He will do and say anything to you to get you to vote for him because he knows you're not voting for Obama. You've already made up your mind about that, so he's going to go after voters like you. he's going to tell you anything you want to hear and hopes you don't do too much digging into his record as Governor of Massachusetts. And what other option do you have in a two party system? Obama or Romney, that's it in this system. Now I'm not advocating you should vote for Obama either because I could go on a rant about him too.
I would love to hear your rant about Obama. It seems (and I may be mistaken) you worship this guy. He cant do wrong in your eyes. The whole bit you just said could be switched to Obama just as easy. Much like you did whith S-Dubbs Sanchez deal :hysterical:

But you want to blame President Obama for failing to lead the past 3 years. Well he's had plenty of help with that. What have the Republicans in congress done to lead?

The point of leading is getting people with different views and opinions to work together to figure it out. That is one thing about Clinton I really liked and why I voted for him his second term. Obama has failed at this.

Quote

It's Boehner and McConnell's jobs to lead too since they are leaders in one of our 3 branches of government.
Obama is the President. He needs to take the lead on this one. I do agree two wrongs don't make a right and they are all acting like children. Obama is the President. He can't just sit back and watch.

You sure? Because it's going to be a lot of text and I know how much you hate to read. Well where do I begin? Well I'll just say it. IMO President Obama has acted like a pussy since he became president. Guess I'll start from the beginning, the stimulus package. He caved in right there. Plenty of people told him from the very beginning, it's not big enough and not focused on the root of the problem (unemployment). His first mistake was not making it clear to congress what he wanted the stimulus package to do. So they (the Dems is congress) loaded the bill with a bunch of pork and enabled the Republicans to pick it apart and take out portions that they knew they could exaggerate and use it on places like Fox News to criticize it. He loaded the stimulus with bunch of tax cuts in the hopes that it would get some Republican votes because they were tax cuts the Republicans supported just a few weeks ago when Bush was still president, but they still wouldn't vote for it. He wanted the Republican votes so they'd own a piece of it but it was an "Obama bill" and that went against their "wait until 2012" gameplan. So ultimately all he got were 3 Republican votes and one of the 3 a few week later switched to the Democratic party. So that bill ended up being a watered down bill that pretty much put a band-aid on a gun shot wound. What I believe (then and now) he should done, is re-institute the WPA (the Works Progress Administration). Have people who were out of work as a result of the burst of the housing bubble, rebuild the nation's infrastructure. The money that went to those tax cuts, should have gone to WPA infrastructure projects. The president wasn't bold enough in trying to institute a program (like the WPA) that would have put millions of unemployed Americans back to work immediately.

Next the health care bill. Obama acts like a pussy again. He focused on expanding coverage and I think he should have instead focused on lowering health care cost. They're both a problem but Americans were/are more concerned that their health care costs are too high, rather than that their neighbor isn't covered at all. That's that streak of self-centeredness we have in this country. He made a MAJOR mistake in advocating for a bill that would not lower costs but rather primarily expand coverage. I believe if health care costs were lower more Americans would be willing to buy it. But Obama cowering to the private health insurers and their lobbyist and the Republican obstructionist killed any chance of lowering cost. He should have advocated and campaigned around the country for the public option. THAT was a compromise to those who want the all private system. Because people like me wanted single payer to begin with, so a public option was IMO the left trying to be reasonable and bipartisan by moving to the middle. But Obama didn't push for it and acted like he was indifferent towards it. I believe a public option was the only way to force the private health insurance companies to lower health care cost. Once again we got a watered down bill that did little to solve the problem most Americans were upset about and that was high health care costs. What pissed me off the most about Obama's handling of the health care bill were two incidences.

First he didn't force Harry Reid to keep the senate in session in August of 2009 and force the budget committee to vote before going on their summer recess. I President Mr_Jet would have told Harry Reid "y'all ain't going anywhere until that bill is out of that committee." I would have canceled my vacation (which Obama went on that pissed me off). I would have made sure the TV cameras saw me kiss my wife and kids goodbye as they got on the helicopter to go on the family vacation while I walked back into the White House to go back to work. I then would have made a speech to the nation that night saying why I believe the senate should vote on the health care bill BEFORE going on vacation. I would have used the bully pulpit to try to keep the senate in session. Obama did none of that and he paid for it when those people went crazy at those town hall events while he was on vacation. Then in September when the swine flu scare broke out, I would have used it to my advantage to try to push for the health care bill I wanted passed. Yeah that would have been wrong and it would have been blatant demagoguing, but it would have worked. When the electorate is scared, they demand immediate action. So I just would have used the swine flu scare to scare the electorate into forcing their congressmen and senators to pass the health care bill. I would have secretly coaxed liberal groups to organize a major free health care clinic on the national mall in Washington in August of that year. To have the thousands of uninsured Americans outside of the Capitol building getting treatment while the congress was inside debating the bill. The imagery of that I think would have benefited Obama's cause. But no he let the Republicans once again control the debate and we got a bill that nobody really liked and that most Americans won't feel the benefits of until 2013, which again makes no sense to me.

I could go on with the debt ceiling debate and him willing to further cripple what's left of the New Deal and Great Society, all so he could get a grand deal with the Republicans in congress just so America could pay back money we've already spent. I'm pissed he hasn't put solar panels on the White House like he promised. I'm pissed he didn't push harder for Elizabeth Warren's appointment (though that might come back to bite the Republicans in the ass if she wins her election to the senate). I'm pissed he still hasn't done anything to get rid of the trade deficit with China. I'm pissed he hasn't pushed harder for his high speed rail plan that would create jobs. I'm pissed he hasn't pushed the justice department harder to stop these new election laws that some states are enacting, which would basically be a new form of poll taxes that would make it harder for the poor, the young, the old, and minorities to vote (traditionally Democratic voters). I'm pissed he didn't push to have the Glass-Steagall act re-instituded as part of the Dodd-Frank bill. I'm pissed he didn't push harder for the Employee Free Choice act. I'm upset he didn't push harder for the DREAM act at a time when Latino voters are growing voting block. I'm upset he decided to extend the Bush tax cuts after saying how wrong they were as Senator Obama. I'm upset he hasn't forced the Republicans in the senate to actually filibuster the things they say they're going to filibuster. Make their asses stand up on the senate floor for hours (or days) and actually verbally filibuster a bill he supports while the C-SPAN cameras are rolling. And I could go on.

So yeah I got problems with President Obama, hell he wasn't even my first choice for president back in 2006 and 2007. BUT he's still been a better president than McCain would've been and will be a better president than Romney or Gingrich would be. My main reason for voting for his re-election has little to do with his domestic policies and has more to do with his record of foreign policy and that he might have more Supreme Court appointments to make in the next 4 years. Justice Ginsburg is old and has had cancer, so she might retire (or die) during the next 4 years. And more importantly Justices Kennedy and Scalia are in their 70s and might retire (or die) in the next 4 years. I'd really like a Democratic president to nominate their replacements. Those are the main reasons I'm voting for Obama so far. But there might be more as the year goes on.

"My number one goal is to make Obama a one term president"
- Senate minority LEADER Mitch McConnell.

Now you figure out a way to get somebody who says that to work with you. In 1993 Clinton got his budget passed without one Republican vote. Clinton got the Republican controlled congress to work with him after he stood up to them and let them to shut down the gov't. When they did it, it backfired on their asses. People don't like it when those gov't services they take for granted aren't there for them when they've come to expect having them.

I agree, he should have started putting his foot in congressional asses (Democrat and Republican) long ago. BUT he's the president, not the prime minister and it's congress's job to make the laws, not the president. Checks and balances remember that from social studies class? That public school social studies class I'm guessing.

sigh...That was a figure of speech. Actually it was part of a line from Eddie Murphy's first Nutty Professor movie.

I believe that was after all the tension. If that is the case, how will be be able to do anything next term? If he can't get anything done for whatever reason he should not be president.

I agree. I lived in AZ and watched McCain back the whole propane powered vehicle thing that nearly bankrupted the state as well as other deals. This might sound petty but him wondering in front of the camera just further proved he was not the guy. If he does not have the common sense to stay out of the camera's way how can he lead a country. We will probably be in the same boat this year. Obama will be they guy, not because he deserves it but we have no other choice.

The verdict is still out for me. This comes back to what I have said before. We really dont have a good choice. The system is broken. Why would someone want to be president. They can make alot more money working in the private sector with fewer headaches and better rewards.
