mgjetman Icon : (Yesterday, 01:39 PM) Sanch owns the #1 blooper of all time with that butt fumble also and to make matters worse he threw it right to a friggin Pat...
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 01:53 PM) buttfumble on thanksgiving was the low point of his career
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 01:55 PM) Teammates talking shut about Sanchez
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 02:11 PM) In case you haven't heard, because why would anyone report on the Giants, Nicks is also holding out
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 02:11 PM) That makes both Cruz and Nicks.
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 02:11 PM) But who cares, Sanchez threw 3 "interceptions"!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 02:59 PM) ?
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 02:59 PM) why would we give a f*** about the Giants?
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 03:04 PM) gg03 jimmies are riled
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 03:21 PM) You're not in NY. All the backpages are focused on Sanchez
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 03:21 PM) None of the NY media even mention Cruz or Nicks
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 03:40 PM) nicks isn't holding out. he's injured still and taking it easy. cruz is holding out. why it isn't a big ordeal IDK. it would be for us
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:02 PM) maybe because theyre not that far off.
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:02 PM) Cruz wants to return back, they'll figure it out.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:41 PM) 3 mil a year off or 30% less then cruz wants. tahst alot of money to be off
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:41 PM) cruz doens't want to leave NY cause teh extra money he'll get in endorsements plus he knows taht they can RFA him this year and then Franchise next year so he might not be able to get a LTD for 3 years
Mr_Jet Icon : (Yesterday, 05:21 PM) Clemens11/Tebow15 (soon to be Smith7) said if we had just drafted Crabtree and Nicks and kept Clemens, we'd be good.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 06:44 PM) No, he can't be Smith7
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 06:44 PM) his name is reserved for garbage QBs, we don't want Geno to be bad
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 06:44 PM) He can be McElroy14
extmenace Icon : (Yesterday, 06:51 PM) we're taking bridgewater next year with the number 1 pick and treating geno like a jimmy clausen.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 06:53 PM) What makes Bridgewater better than Geno?
HurricaneJet32 Icon : (Yesterday, 07:12 PM) everything
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 07:56 PM) ^
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:16 PM) college players always get hyped up before the draft process, just wondering what makes him so much better.
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:19 PM) Stronger arm, plays in a pro system, better throwing motion, better athlete
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:19 PM) there's probably nothing Geno does right now that's better than what Teddy does
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 10:25 PM) Wouldn't it be funny with Bridgewater ends up having the type of season Barkley had?
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 07:48 AM) better athlete but never runs as well
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 07:48 AM) stronger arm but rarely throws deep
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 07:48 AM) I am trying to find this article, but Bridgewater had about the least amount of 40+ throws in college football
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 07:49 AM) I wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't viewed as highly next year. College players always get hyped up a year before the draft process. People change their opinions quickly.
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 07:56 AM) I'll put a good amount of money that Bridgewater is still highly regarded coming out next year.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:00 AM) ok I found the chart
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:00 AM) Bridgewater had 0% of his passes go 40+ yards in college
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:02 AM) he could be, I'll wait though
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:02 AM) I doubt Smith will be as bad as Clausen anyways
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:03 AM) I remember watching Clausen in a NFL game and the guy couldn't even throw a spiral.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:03 AM) Geno has been impressing teammates with how well he can spin the ball and sling it.
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 08:31 AM) I hope Geno turns out to be a f***ing monster
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Today, 10:52 AM) andrew luck was hyped up for like 3 years before he entered teh draft
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 11:34 AM) tehhhh
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 11:37 AM) it wasn't for 3 years and Andrew Luck is the best QB prospect to come out in years. Teddy Bridgewater most likely isn't Luck or RGIII
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 11:40 AM) I've only seen Bridgewater play once. That was against Florida, I actually watched that game.

I'm curious as to what everyone thinks about our running back situation.

It seems like Greene is gonna get the start next year.

I really like Bilal Powell. I like the little that I saw from him in the preseason even though our line was horrendous, he looked very powerful. He also looked deceptively fast. He caught out the backfield a few times and I liked his burst.

We haven't had a big sample from him so maybe some of you guys know a little more about his talent. I honestly felt the only reason he wasn't in the lineup over Joe McKnight is because McKnight plays special teams. I think he's an all around better running back than McKnight.

So with that said, do we bring someone else in or do we work with what we have?

He may have done well in the preseason, but from the - admittedly few - touches he got in the regular season Powell didn't do much. Opinion is mixed here on Greene and if the front office feel RB is a need then Powell will likely be buried on the depth chart again next season. The position isn't exactly the biggest priority though so if LT leaves/retires, Bilal could get a better opportunity to show what he can do.

i think powell looks slow and weak personally. i wasn't expecting much and i still was disappointed. greene had a solid year. 1000+ yards higher then a 4.1 YPC behind a bad o-line. Mcnknight looks shifty and seeems like he'll fill the 3rd down back roll nicely. powell won't see any time unless one RB goes down

I think Greene is about as good of a back as you can get for a downhill, no receiving required offense. McKnight is a athletic counterpoint that will be useful in other packages. We need a second power back, and Powell might be that. Miami got pretty decent production out of Bush and Thomas, who are fairly similar in many ways to what Sparano has here.

Here's something to think about. The Giants won the Super Bowl with running backs that are okay - no great one in the group. They beat the Patriots who had even less. The Packers last year certainly didn't have great backs nor did the Steelers. The Saints don't exactly have killer backs either. So I think we can say with a fair degree of confidence, we have the backs to win a Super Bowl. Open holes and they will bring it.

It's the offensive line that is crucial.

Greene is a back up.
McKnight is more of a situational, scat back/Wr.
Bilal? Just need to see more.

I agree 100% greene averaged 5YPC as a backup and TJ 4.5 cause our o-line was dominating
games are won in the trenches

I think greene was a solid starter. wasn't great but our o-line didn't play well at all. he still had 1000 yards and higher then a 4YPC and didn't get hurt. thats basically your average starter. can we get a better back? sure but its not worth it. as pointed out before when was the last time a team with a great RB won anything? barry sanders, adrian peterson, chris johnson etc. the last 2 i can think of is faulk with the rams and lewis with the ravens since 2000. the other 8 or so winners didn't have good RBs at all

Yes but the Giants have a great quarterback. The Jets do not. The Giants can afford to have their running game simply be complimentary to the passing game since the offense literally runs through Manning now.

When Powell had his opportunities in the regular season he was unspectacular to say the least, particularly against Denver. I was not impressed and am left to believe that the Jets will need to draft a running back to compliment Greene. And I don't want to hear about McKnight. He is not as good of a runner as Leon Washington and should just be relegated to kick returner and maybe third down back.
