One thing is that Sparano kept them focused and prepared, he kept them fighting all year. I think our offense should be more disciplined. A lot will be determined by how our offseason goes and how the rest of the AFC east offseason goes. I think the Jets come in more humbled and hungry this year.
I have no idea how the Dolphins new HC is going to do, we will have to wait and see.

A Jets team imploaded, gave up on their OC, WRs and the QB were feuding with each other... and the Jets STILL finished 8-8. Now Miami is going to jump us in the division? How? Is Reggie Bush going to stay another career year? How are they going to fix their OL (which has more holes than ours)? They're switching to the 4-3 and it will take them at least 2 years to reshuffle the front 7. Oh yea... they're getting Matt Flynn or Peyton Manning. Matt Flynn had a great 2 games. I'm sorry but I'm not sold. Peyton is one hit away from retirement and may not be able to throw left. All this and we haven't touched on the subject that getting rid of Schotty is like having an extra Top 5 pick for the offense.

Shotty didn't have much of a problem finding a new job did he? Before the guy encountered sanchez the guy was considered one of the new bright minds in the sport. I agree that it was time for a change but this upcomming season will tell us who really was at fault for our offensive struggles (sanchez vs shotty).
But yea...Like it or not, the dolphins have a solid team. Whats wrong with their O-line unless I'm missing something? Carrey, pouncey, long, columbo, incognito doesn't seem to shabby to me. I hate the dolphins as much as the next jets fan does, but if they snag a top 5-10 QB, and can pick up some players to contribute in this years draft, the dolphins are a player in the AFC.

I'm not going to turn this into a thesis on how horrible Schotty was, but I will say that his reputation for his "offensive mind" was totally unwarranted. The Jets was his first job outside his father's shadow. He lasted 6 mediocre years and was forced out. Here's the crux of it: every single QB that he has coached ended up having a career year the year after they left his system. Is that a coincidence?

Carrey probably sticks out in your mind because he's a former first rounder, but ask any Fin fan and they'll tell you that he shouldn't be starting. Columbo is ancient and Incognito is a poor man's Rob Turner. Pouncey is okay, but he's not as good as his brother. Long is an All Pro. They got 2 holes, 1 meh and 2 starters. They will likely draft OL in the 1st 2 rounds.
Any team that adds a Top 10 QB is expected to be better than before. The problem is, adding that Top 10 QB. Who do you think is going to be Top 10? Matt Flynn? We've seen plenty of 2nd string QBs perform amazingly in mop up duties. There's absolutely no guarantee that he'll be any better than J Feeley... the last 2nd stringer the Fins gambled on. Peyton is an enigma, no one knows what he has left... however, the only team he's ever played for is pimping him out hardcore. The fact that they'd rather go into the season with a complete questionmark (a rookie) than even gamble that Peyton has anything left lets me know that he's far less than 100%.

Herm didn't have much trouble finding a new job did he? Mangini didn't have much trouble finding a new job...Mora Jr gets all sorts of jobs. Not really much of an argument.
As to Schotty, even if he goes to the Rams and turns them into an elite offense, it won't change the bad job he did here. He was bad at play design and calling before and during Sanchez.

Exterminate all rational thought, that is the conclusion I have come to

Every player in the league is one hit away from retirement.

You're never 100% after you have your verterbrae fused. The fact that there was nerve damage and he's trying to regain his arm strength is a giant red flag.
