Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 03:33 PM) so i bet powell barely gets any touches this year and goodson gets cut
azjetfan Icon : (16 April 2014 - 03:34 PM) Goodson is as good as gone.
azjetfan Icon : (16 April 2014 - 03:34 PM) With all his legal issues and coming off injury he is done. Possibly even in the NFL
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 03:39 PM) Powell is average anyways.

Per source, Chris Johnson's two-year deal has a base value of $8 million, with another $1 million available in incentives based on yardage.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 03:40 PM) He does a lot of things well, but isn't talented enough. Johnson has breakaway ability still and Ivory is man beast running the football
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 03:41 PM) We will get another WR in the draft. Even in round 2 you can get a starting WR
azjetfan Icon : (16 April 2014 - 04:09 PM) I am still standing by my CB in the first round and WR in the second prediction
santana Icon : (16 April 2014 - 05:19 PM) The title race is bale
azjetfan Icon : (16 April 2014 - 05:34 PM) Sidney rice coming in for a visit
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 05:49 PM) I think the Jets are getting themselves ready to draft best player available
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 05:49 PM) Last year they stuck to their board
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 06:27 PM) if they sign him I think that means they look to take a CB round 1
2JBallar01 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 06:32 PM) “@AdamSchefter: RB Chris Johnson's 2-year deal with Jets has a team option in it for year two. Jets have option to pick up year two at $4M in February 2015.”

Sidney Rice has agreed to terms with the Seahawks on a one-year deal, per source.

The Jets are targeting two safeties in free agency -- LaRon Landry and Reggie Nelson, both of whom were first-round picks in 2007. Ideally, you'd like to have both because their skill sets are complementary, but it's unclear if they have enough salary-cap room to make that happen.

One thing to remember: Landry, plagued by Achilles-tendon issues, is said to be willing to take a one-year deal to prove himself healthy, hoping for a big free-agent score next year. Something to ponder.

Anyway, here's a statistical look at the two safeties, courtesy of the web site Pro Football Focus. Judging from the numbers, it's pretty clear that Nelson is better in coverage and Landry is a better run enforcer around the line of scrimmage. The Jets use a lot of single-high safety looks, which might not be a good thing for Landry. But if you want a "box" safety, Landry gets the edge.

LANDRY (513 total snaps):

Pass coverage
Time targeted/Completions -- 22/15
Completion pct. -- 71.4
Yards -- 159 yards
Yards after catch -- 99
TDs allowed -- 1
Interceptions -- 0
Passes defensed --0
Passer rating -- 109.0

Run defense
Tackles -- 43
Stops* -- 22
Missed tackles -- 5

Blitzing
QB sacks --2
QB hits/pressures -- 8

NELSON (1,049 snaps):

Pass coverage
Times targeted/completions -- 33/21
Completion pct. -- 63.6
Yards -- 275
Yards after catch -- 74
Interceptions -- 4
Passes defensed -- 4
Touchdowns -- 2
Passer rating -- 70.5

Run defense
Tackles -- 64
Stops* -- 24
Missed tackles -- 8

Blitzing
QB sacks -- 2
QB hits/pressures -- 7

Nice find. id def say this shows Landry is a liability in pass coverage. in half the snaps he gave up more yac than nelson, and it looks like qbs have their way with him. 71 completion %? ew.

Yea also 0 Int's. Most definitely a strong safety. Rex would likely use a lot of LB-Hybrid with Landry. One thing I do like about Rex is he rarely puts someone out of their comfort zone. Puts them in places to be successful.

Didn't he have a lingering achilles injury that eventually forced him to the IR?

Yea, which he STILL has. he ignored multiple doctors who all said to get surgery. the guy is a moron. I dont want him. He gets burned, he never properly fixed his injury so who knows how it healed. hes a musclehead who id question if he could pass a drug test, and he might as well be a lb.

I dont see what we get out of signing him besides another body at the safety position to put a name in for the depth chart. Draft someone, bring back Leonhard, we will be fine. Id rather just deal with Erik Smith at this point over Landry. Leonhard keeps our coverages in line, draft a rangy free safety to compliment and lets start righting the ship.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa WHOA!!!!!!!!! I'm in the same camp as you. Landry is not an end all be all BUT... dealing with Smitty another year? No.

Supposedly Landry is healthy. I'm sure he'll undergo a crazy physical when he signs. I'm sure that he's going to work out for team as well. He's saying that he'll take a 1 year deal to prove he's healthy. Is he? I don't know. I do know that sometimes surgery isn't the only remedy. It wasn't a ruptured achilles, and that's the extent of the injury that I know. We'll see what happens but ERIC SMITH AS PLAN A IS NO PLAN AT ALL.

Which is why Landry is willing to take a 1 yr deal to prove hes healthy. He went a different route that surgery for his achilles, he did platelet rich plasma treatment.

A healthy smith is just as good as a weakened Landry. plus we have smith locked up for another 2 years if i remember correctly so unless we wanna take a cap hit, even as little as it may be, we are stuck with him anyway.

Sorry, I am not much of a gambling man and Landry has too many red flags. he isnt worth vet minimum as a safety in my opinion.

I would take either one. We just signed Landry so i'm good. Our safeties are horrible. Anyone would be an upgrade
