Strengths:
- Size, Reach, Length
- Athletic Measurables
- Seemingly solid hands
- Attacking the ball at the highest point
- Plus blocker from playing in triple option
Weakness:
- Has to learn a full route tree
- Experience
- Raw
My Thoughts:
From Day 1 teams will have to account for his speed and athletic ability outside the numbers. While learning the ways of a real receiver, he can still stretch the field and attract attention deep along with his blocking ability, it'll help him get on the field. Clearly has every bit of the athletic ability of any stud in the NFL. If he can combine that, with some football IQ, he can be an All-Pro in the NFL. High Risk, High Reward
Upside: All-Pro physically dominating WR
Downside: Just another athlete in the NFL who doesn't pan out to squat
Grade: B. I liked too many receivers in the draft to move up to get him. It would of made more sense to keep the picks and have him (or another WR) fall to us. The tremendous upside keeps this pick from being a full letter grade lower for me.
DeMario Davis. Initially thought he was projected as an OLB, but Rex confirms ILB in the future.
Strengths:
- Speedy (4.61 40)
- Strong (32 bench reps)
- Special Teamer from Day 1
Weakness:
- Level of competition
- Lacks football IQ / high level coaching
- Looks to struggle in man coverage
My Thoughts:
XOS only showed me a few clips and games from Arkansas State so I could only really form my opinion from a little bit of watching. Clearly he stood out as a man among boys at the level he played at, which is definitely a plus for someone making the transition to the NFL from a small school. He definitely possesses great speed and has some real pop behind his tackles.
He doesn't look to play in control very often, he relied on a bunch of his athletic ability to really stand out. He will need time to learn the system, NFL offenses and mature as a player. Special Teams he could be a gem.
Upside: Special Teams ace. Used on sub packages on defense
Downside: Doesn't even make the team this year
Grade: D+.
