Chris Johnson signs 2 year deal - http://nyjetsfan.com...showtopic=38339
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 11:34 AM) He was at the Knicks/Nets game yesterday
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 11:36 AM) Idk about the numbers, I read an article that said that the Jets offered a "attractive" deal to Johnson and that it was always a longshot that he would sign yesterday, but the Jets believe the deal is market value for him

The Jets put together a convincing package on Tuesday to him, on and off the field. Now it is up to him. - See more at: http://m.metro.us/ne...h.cFze6cx8.dpuf

Mr_Jet Icon : (Today, 02:34 PM) Well considering they already retired #28 in honor of Curtis Martin, I don't see Johnson wearing #28.
Mr_Jet Icon : (Today, 02:35 PM) Kind of defeats the purpose of retiring a number.
Mr_Jet Icon : (Today, 02:39 PM) But I know he better not wear LaMont Jordan's number. Or I'll be pissed.

Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 03:04 PM) And this draft is loaded at the offensive skill positions
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 03:04 PM) Hopefully we can get anohter starting WR and starting TE in the draft
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 03:05 PM) Our offense could be much better than last year
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 03:05 PM) can't get much worse than what it's been the last 2 years

Jetsfan115 Icon : (Today, 03:32 PM) still need another WR
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Today, 03:33 PM) so i bet powell barely gets any touches this year and goodson gets cut
azjetfan Icon : (Today, 03:34 PM) Goodson is as good as gone.
azjetfan Icon : (Today, 03:34 PM) With all his legal issues and coming off injury he is done. Possibly even in the NFL
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 03:39 PM) Powell is average anyways.
Chaos Icon : (Today, 03:39 PM) @ProFootballTalk 5m

Per source, Chris Johnson's two-year deal has a base value of $8 million, with another $1 million available in incentives based on yardage.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 03:40 PM) He does a lot of things well, but isn't talented enough. Johnson has breakaway ability still and Ivory is man beast running the football
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 03:41 PM) We will get another WR in the draft. Even in round 2 you can get a starting WR
azjetfan Icon : (Today, 04:09 PM) I am still standing by my CB in the first round and WR in the second prediction

Jets | Wanted Bruce Irvin?

Mon, 30 Apr 2012 06:13:34 -0700

After the Seattle Seahawks selected LB Bruce Irvin with the No. 15 overall pick in the NFL Draft, the team received a phone call from the New York Jets, who also wanted Irvin. Less than five minutes after the Seahawks plucked Irvin, with a pick that surprised many experts, the telephone rang in the Seattle "war room." On the other end was a Jets' official, good-naturedly cursing a Seahawks' counterpart for having chosen the prospect New York planned to grab one pick later.

Thank God the Seahawks picked him then cause then we probably would of booked a ticket to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge if that happened.

he was a 2nd round projection but he is 6-3 248 with 4.5 speed. rex probably felt he oculd be an edge rusher at OLB more then ingram. Its obvious to me the jets didn't like ingram. he slid for a reason. I think we got a similar type (not skill set so relax) in davis in the 3rd. Davis is just more raw and unproven but I feel like he can make plays for us this season on special teams and in sub packages and maybe take over for scott next year. its clear this is scotts last season with us

Other beat writers denied that... I doubt that they would have taken him, hes real small and probably offers nothing vs the run. The Seahawks probably put that report out there to justify the pick.

For the record I laughed at seattle too. Everything I read about irvin told me he was pegged as a mid 2nd rounder. I can't say I know much about him aside from the fact that he is undersized and is a speed rusher but I'm happy that if this was really true, that he was taken the pick before we were up. To bad we couldn't have been as fortunate when we drafted Gholston...I was really hoping then that he'd be off the board before we picked...to bad.

Everything I've read is that out of the pool of likely/possible guys we would have to pick from at 16 we were going with Coples. I believe that over the team planning on Irvin.

Being a WVU student, I can tell you that the guy is a monster in pass rushing situations. I had the privilege of seeing him play every weekend. He is relentless and has a motor like non-other. However, we never utilized him in non-passing situations so it is hard to truly tell his capabilities in those scenarios.

Be that as it may, was there any talk on the WVU campus of him going this early in the 1st round?
