CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Jets recently shared their plan to mix in Antonio Cromartie as an offensive tackle. The athletically gifted cornerback considers himself the second-best tackle on the team, after D'brickashaw Ferguson.

“I think I’d put myself as second,” Cromartie told ESPN First Take today. “I haven’t really played it in the past four or five years. I can put myself as the second with just raw ability and talent going out there, and I think, me pushing and being a more physical guy out there on the outside.”

Rex Ryan said that Comartie has been asking to play tackle for some time now.

"I told him, 'Cro, you're 200 pounds and you cant even remember your kid's names. You're going to be awful at this,'" Ryan quipped. "And he was.

"But still a lot better than Wayne [Hunter] out there," added Ryan.

Cromartie was used at right tackle on one play in Monday's practice, delivering a pancake block on defensive tackle Quinton Coples. The rookie called Cromartie a "significant challenge" after playing against the embattled Hunter. "I mean the guy actually put his hands up and touched me" Coples said. "Big difference!"

Wayne Hunter had no comment.

No it's fake. Ryan would never say anything negative about his players. "he probably tells the guys he cuts, "it isn't you, it's us. you're really great and I believe you're going to do great things."

Now they're putting Hunter on the bench and didn't Rex just say Hunter's job wasn't in danger?

Just for the record it is fake. I took a real article about cro wanting to play receiver and changed it up a bit. Someone (one of the admins?) seems to have made some changes to make it seem ever more realistic. At first I was upset someone changed my post but the new one is better then mine so congrats to whomever upgraded it.

If Cro said he was the best qb on the team I might just believe it.

If the offense looks as bad during the season as it has so far this could go down as the worst offense in Jets history.

So far they are by far the worst offensive team in the preseason yet the starters will be resting in preseason game four. What a joke. If they look like crap that should be playing to get more work towards getting better.

I personally don't think Carolina`s defense will be a test to gauge where the offense is at. They certainly don't have a top ten defense.
