ROBJETS Icon : (15 April 2015 - 08:36 PM) If someone calls me an idiot or moron or stupid over a football debate it doesn't bother me in the slightest. But when you make things personal like with racist things or family crap its a whole different level
azjetfan Icon : (15 April 2015 - 08:36 PM) I felt my FLiHi remark was as "harmless" as you did calling another person a Moron and stupid because they didn't agree with your opinion
ROBJETS Icon : (15 April 2015 - 08:38 PM) my friends and I call each other morons and stupid an laugh at each other when we do something stupid like when we are drinking. It means nothing. and we laugh about it because its harmless. I'm trying to tell you this is a big difference between what you say to people and what others do.
ROBJETS Icon : (15 April 2015 - 08:40 PM) Heck 115 rags me a lot and it doesnt bother me in the least. i rag him too. Same with GG2003 and SHJ. There is a difference between friendly banter and disagreements and crossing the line
azjetfan Icon : (15 April 2015 - 08:44 PM) So your opinion of the line is right and my opinion is wrong? Is that what your saying? I don't know you. I'm not a drinking buddy of yours. Maybe you should learn some social tact.
ROBJETS Icon : (15 April 2015 - 08:47 PM) you felt it was harmless but you were the only one. Everyone else understood why I got was extremely offended about it the first time because you cross the line with what you say to people. Apparently you realized it enough to send me a long pm apologizing and having communication problems that get you in trouble sometimes. But now you cant understand the difference?
azjetfan Icon : (15 April 2015 - 08:48 PM) I understand why. What I'm saying is if you take a jab people will jab back. Have you heard that saying " dont throw rocks when you live in a glass house?"
ROBJETS Icon : (15 April 2015 - 08:49 PM) The way you understand things if I call you an idiot about not wanting to trade for a high end qb its no different from me disrespecting your family. Thats what Im getting from you. So the way you see things everything is equally personal
azjetfan Icon : (15 April 2015 - 08:50 PM) From complete strangers on an Internet forum? Yes. Man up
azjetfan Icon : (15 April 2015 - 08:51 PM) Nod the debate was if he is a "high end" player. I thought he was well above average but not worth a 6th overall pick
ROBJETS Icon : (15 April 2015 - 08:55 PM) Not worth my time to even acknowledge anymore. Just going to ignore you like I do Mr. Jet. You have a lot of mental growing up to do.
azjetfan Icon : (15 April 2015 - 08:57 PM) That's funny coming from a guy who went butt f*** crazy a couple hours ago
azjetfan Icon : (15 April 2015 - 08:57 PM) Meanwhile you can't seem to respect that others opinions are different than yours
azjetfan Icon : (15 April 2015 - 08:59 PM) You are emotionally weak. You went through some serious shit growing up and you can't adjust. You take it out on your keyboard.
azjetfan Icon : (15 April 2015 - 09:00 PM) When someone challenges your immaturity you have a complete crazy freak out and act like a girl on her first period
azjetfan Icon : (15 April 2015 - 09:00 PM) Hence the "go wipe your pussy and man up comment
Mr_Jet Icon : (15 April 2015 - 10:16 PM) Please Rob, leave my name out of your little bitchfest.
ROBJETS Icon : (15 April 2015 - 11:46 PM) My bad. You have been respecting my request to you I had a while backI made to you by us not commenting to each other to keep peace between us. I was totally in the wrong for bringing your name up at all and into an argument with member that has issues. I got furious furious with a child. I should've just ignored him like I do the other immature kids on some game forums and sites I belong to. Wont happen again. My apologies for bringing your name into it Mr. Jet.
azjetfan Icon : (16 April 2015 - 07:04 AM) Dude.... Get back on your meds.
blk_orion Icon : (16 April 2015 - 07:47 AM) WTF? Really???
blk_orion Icon : (16 April 2015 - 07:48 AM) Now back to our regular scheduled program......
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (16 April 2015 - 08:08 AM) Lol that escalated quickly
azjetfan Icon : (16 April 2015 - 10:24 AM) Rex is chirping again.
azjetfan Icon : (16 April 2015 - 10:26 AM) He said he is going to try and kick the Shit out of the Jets
azjetfan Icon : (16 April 2015 - 10:26 AM) http://sports.yahoo....l8xBHNlYwNzcg--
azjetfan Icon : (16 April 2015 - 10:26 AM) I still like the guy. He's entertaining
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 April 2015 - 01:25 PM) i miss rex. love his demeanor
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 April 2015 - 01:26 PM) i'd be happy if he kicks the shit out of miami and NE every year
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (16 April 2015 - 09:56 PM) I
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (16 April 2015 - 09:56 PM) I'm excited for the new coaching staff
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (16 April 2015 - 09:56 PM) Rex wsa fun, but he was too much with the defense instead of the entire football team
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (16 April 2015 - 09:57 PM) also he didn't always hold players accountable. I think Bowles will make the team more disciplined.
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 02:50 AM) I don't have any faith in bowles
azjetfan Icon : (Yesterday, 08:15 AM) “San Diego Chargers will ultimately make a deal with the Tennessee Titans for the number two overall pick. As part of that trade, the Chargers will send the number 17 overall pick and Philip Rivers, just as a start, for the number two pick.”
azjetfan Icon : (Yesterday, 08:15 AM) Damn... Who called it? This guy.
azjetfan Icon : (Yesterday, 08:16 AM) http://national.sunt...s-mariota-trade
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Yesterday, 10:13 AM) So we would now lose out on maroita and rivers
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Yesterday, 10:13 AM) Ain't that super
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 01:39 PM) do we make a trade for AP?
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 02:41 PM) I believe the rivers stuff is all speculation
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 03:38 PM) So a top ten qb and the 17th pick for the 2nd overall as a start? Makes sense
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 03:39 PM) So Many smokescreens this time of year
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:08 PM) only 2 more weeks before we find out. draft day will be exciting
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:09 PM) my money is we'll take a pass rushing OLB
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:08 PM) Yup, unless they trade up.

His Combine profile:

Quote

OVERVIEW
Smith is still learning to play on the offensive line after starting his Baylor career at tight end (six catches for 70 yards and one touchdown as a redshirt freshman). But after flashing exciting potential as a sophomore and junior, Smith's play ascended to another level in 2008. He started on the right side as a sophomore in 2006 and missed time at left tackle in 2007 with a strained MCL. He was named honorable mention All-Big 12 as a junior. Smith's play earned him All-American honors in 2008 -- the first BU offensive lineman to be so honored since 1980. Smith is a raw prospect at this time compared to some of the other left tackles in this draft. If he is impressive in postseason all-star games, workouts and interviews, Smith has the upside to vault to the top of the class. Had an arm span of 33 3/4 inches and a hand span of 9 3/4 inches at the combine.

ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Positives: Tall, athletic left tackle prospect. ... Excellent straight-line speed and hustle, getting downfield on screens and long runs. ... Can pull and trap, running smoothly and adjusting to oncoming defenders. ... Moves to the second level quickly, using good angles to keep linebackers out of the play. ... Should work well in zone-blocking schemes with his ability to lock onto defenders and move. ... Gets down quickly to cut block despite his height. ... Adjusts well to outside blitzers. ... Willing to throw his man to the ground and keep him there. ... Has made significant improvement in terms of technique and strength over the past two years at left tackle. Negatives: Typically operates out of a two-point stance for Baylor. ... Raw in his pass-set technique, standing a bit upright and backpedaling instead of sliding to mirror his man. ... Locks onto his man at first, but eventually loses his balance and grip due to his average upper-body strength and footwork. ... Does not have much of a punch in pass protection. ... Can lose the hands battle on the line. ... Could use a bit more bulk in the lower body to be more effective as a drive blocker. ... Could be moved inside to left guard for a zone-blocking team.

And his blurb from wiki:

Quote

On July 30, 2009 the Rams agreed to terms with Smith on a six-year contract with $33 million in guarantees. The maximum value of the deal is $61 million. The sixth year is voidable, which would leave Smith with $6.6 million per year over five years.

Currently, Smith is the starting right tackle for the Rams. Though drafted as a left tackle he has been beaten out by 2010 Rams rookie Rodger Saffold.[13] As a rookie, in 2009, Smith played mostly right tackle, although he played some left tackle—the position for which he was drafted. In his rookie season Smith suffered a serious concussion November 22, 2009. "My situation was real serious," Smith related and it caused him to miss the remainder of his rookie season.[14]

What do we know about Jason Smith? Obviously he's a huge bust to be drafted #2 overall and then get traded for Hunter... but how bad is he? Is he serviceable as a starter or is he depth?

I wouldn't praise Tanny over this yet. That is a huge contract to take on if this guy is a bust and no better or worse than Hunter. We still have Ducasse and we dont need another like him.

Hopefully this guy pans out.

If not Tanny screwed us. Id rather pay out 2.4m this year for a has-been then get stuck with a 16.5m contract for a bust. Not to mention that is a big contract for a backup.

From what I'm reading, he's owed $4M guaranteed.

Don't kid yoursevles. Smith sucks ass. He's horrible.
Fifteen years ago after an especially disappointing loss to Miami, Esiason, then the Jets' quarterback, was making the seven-mile drive from the Meadowlands back to Manhattan.
While he was slogging through stop-and-go traffic at the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel, the car next to him was violently rear-ended. The quarterback threw his car into park, hopped out and ran to the woman whose car had been hit. She was wearing, of all things, an Esiason jersey, and was utterly shocked when he tapped on her window to check on her.
"Are you OK?" he said, trying to keep calm. "Are you OK?"
"Boomer? Is that you?" she asked the Good Samaritan, sounding disoriented. "I think I'm OK, but . ... "
But what?
"But you guys sucked."
Welcome to the New York Jets, Tim Tebow.

It does come across as a trade of the Jets' underachieving, overpaid tackle for the Rams' underachieving, even more overpaid tackle. I guess what we get is Smith's remaining 'upside', while the Rams cut costs and pick up a player their new offensive coordinator is familiar with. It wouldn't be a newsworthy deal if Hunter had not attracted so much attention for his woeful play and Smith had not been taken number two overall.

Was he 2nd overall or just a second round pick? He can't possibly be worse than Hunter; that's for sure. If the jets over payed to get him, it's their own fault for letting what every football fan could see with their eyes closed. Ever since Damien Woody left, the offense stunk. If you can't control the line of scrimmage, you aren't gonna win much.

He's "horrible" because the Rams are horrible. He was actually pretty average according to PFF. It's just that the rest of the OL was garbage and any time you have 2 average players and 3 awful ones, the entire product looks like a giant mud bowl of shit. Compound that with the fact that this kid was the #2 overall pick, and he's their Gholston except if Gholston was injury prone and averaged 4 sacks per year (which would be average for his position).

Wayne Hunter was the worst OT in football last year (seriously, per PFF statistics). Nuff said.

So the Jets got rid of him after they talked about how much they liked him and after it became so apparent that there was a problem that every media outlet and fan was going crazy about how they could be keeping him...

...sound familiar?

The Jets didn't outright fire Schotty, they let him "resign". Figure he owed Tanny a solid for this one so he took Hunter off our hands. He turned out to be a pretty good guy afterall.
