Well it's a quarter way through the season, and the Jets are up in the air. We're .500 and 2-0 in the division, that's the good news. The bad news: everything else. I'm here to fix this shit. Sit down and shut up.

OFFENSE:

1. Kill that Tebow talk. Tim Tebow will not improve on whatever weaknesses Sanchez is displaying. He cannot duplicate the running success he's had in Denver and at this point, he shouldn't get more than 3-5 plays a game.

2. Sanchez needs someone to throw to. It looks as if Holmes is going to miss a chunk of time with his currently undiagnosed boo boo and it will be a while until we see Hill as well. Keller should be back soon, but Keller and Kerley won't keep the defenses up at night. We have absolutely no depth at WR as Schillens, Turner and Gates are terrible. The Jets in their petulance to take chances, are probably looking at TO and Ocho... which is a mistake.

The easiest way to fix our offense (ei move the fuckin ball) is to put the running game on the backburner and go no huddle. The pass protection is decent enough to allow Sanchez 3 seconds at a time, which is more than enough for any WR to run a dig, a short curl or a slant. That's right, go back to West Coast. One name out there that no one mentioned so far is Chansi Stucky. He's a FA and he's basically the same type of player as Kerley. You take the two of them, Keller and either Hill (when healthy) or Schillens and what you have is a deep threat to keep the safety at bay, a TE to clear out the middle and two quick guys that can get 7-12 yards a play every play. Throw Powell or McKnight into the backfield and boom, instant speed that will keep the defenses from blitzing. I wouldn't even mind if we go shotgun half the time. Spread the defense out and keep it going 7 yards at a pop. It almost worked with Pennington except the defenses never had to worry about the deep pass so we played against the safeties 8 yards from the LOS.

I know what everyone is going to say "Oh but Sanchez is inaccurate". Horseshit. He can thread the needle when he trusts the WR. Look at how he performed against the Fins in OT. Putting the game on his shoulders from the start instead of waiting for the running game to fail and the defense to get tired makes more sense. Besides, our offense actually look the most effective in a 2 minute drill. Lets see if we can maintain that pace on every possession.

3. Diversify, diversify, diversify. Our offense so far has been bland. We need to run some 2 TE sets, even some 3 TE sets. Lets see what Hayden Smith can do in the red zone. Lets try to run more screens and end arounds with McKnight. Stop running up the middle every 2nd and short.

DEFENSE:

1. Coples needs to be on the field as often as possible. He was the only standout against the 9ers and he looks to be the most athletic player on our front 7.

2. Pace, BT, Harris and Scott CANNOT be on the field at the same time. That's an average of about a 5.8 40 between the 4 of them. Harris is obviously the bawse of that unit and Pace is our best OLB technique wise so they should see the same amount of snaps. We need to play more Maybin, Davis and McIntyre. The speed that they can infuse into this unit is worth the loss of "experience" when they're on the field. Maybin is obviously a pass rushing specialist, so he should basically come in on passing downs. McIntyre played the run as well as BT and he got to the QB, so he can be used any down. Davis we've only seen on special teams so we should ease him in on passing downs (him and Maybin blitzing from the same side will be fun to watch).

3. Blitz. Blitz the ever living shit out of everyone. Just go for it. Without Revis, we won't be able to shut down the pass anyway so we might as well use the Giants formula of "hit him often enough and you only have to cover for 3 seconds). Its no coincidence that when we were the highest blitzing team in the NFL, we went to the AFC Championship games. When we stopped, we stopped winning. With the additions of Landry and Bell, we have a quasi-LBer that can do what Smitty never could: get the to the QB and actually bring him down. Seriously Rex, throw the kitchen sink at them.

4. Wilson cannot be on an island against the opposing team's fastest WR. Manningham would've had 3 TDs if Alex Smith had any touch on his throws. Cro shouldn't be on the teams most physical WR. Why Cro wasn't covering Manningham and Wilson wasn't on Crabtree is beyond me.

That's it for now.

They could look at Plaxico or TO at WR for this year

Play Coples all 3 downs on defense

Hope the free agents DB's do the job on the back end

Front Seven must tackle better

I like defense # 3 . but we got this way because Rex had to give into the way the game is expected to be played today . stats don't count but only the W if you are a sound team paying sound football which we are not now.
I thought of Jco a few weeks ago because he is well Jco but he would never come back now. stucky or a guy like that is fine . burress is a safe bet . your thinking is good but it should not have been because we are in this position it should always be in the offensive playbook . We have no bread and butter play with Mark .

Your scheme is so whacked that I love it. But please don't kid yourself by believing Sanchez is an accurate passer. He is far from that. Of ocurse every QB in the league can hit receivers if they have all day and the plays are designed to have the receiver either stopped or10 yards away. Sanchez does not have the consistency to hit receivers on the run by throwing to a spot downfield. I still believe McElroy has more talent given the chance.

As for speed, it would be fun to see Davis out there. I guess we have to assume he isn't talented enough. If speed was the only thing we could draft based solely on that. It does seem clear that Tanny is not an astute drafter. We almost never have a real playmaker come out of the draft like a Pierre Paul or Victor Cruz. Coples looks to have a lot of talent but they don't play him.

One thing is for sure. If we play our normal style of football we aren't going to win more than5 games. So why not try your system. At least we would get Powell at RB instead of Greene who is 2 yards and out.

Certainly agree with the need to be aggressive on defense. Without Revis coverage was bound to be much weaker, and we didn't help Wilson by getting zero pressure on Alex Smith other than a pair of sacks in quick succession during the first half. When you have a player with little starting experience at one of the toughest positions on the field to play, you need to do all you can to help him. Sure he may get beat if we blitz and can't give him safety help, but I'd rather take those kinds of risks and be in a better position to potentially force a turnover off a sack-fumble or pick because the throw was rushed.
