Not only was a black/biracial president re-elected yesterday but:

• We now have 20 women in the U.S. senate more than ever before. In 1992 we just had 3 women senators, now we'll have 20.
  
• Wisconsin elected the first ever OPENLY gay candidate to the senate.
  
• For the first time voters in Maryland and Maine both approved gay marriage proposals and in Minnesota they voted against banning gay marriage. Before that only the state supreme courts and state governments have legalized gay marriage.
  
• Voters in Colorado and Washington state voted to decriminalize marijuana for recreational use.
  
• Massachusetts voters voted to legalize physician-assisted suicide for terminally ill people.
  
• Maryland voted to uphold their own version of the DREAM act.
  
• Hawaii elected a Hindu to the House and a Buddhist to the Senate. Both firsts in U.S. history.
  
• In New Hampshire women now hold the governorship, both of the senate seats, and both House seats (they only have two). Another first in our history.
  
• And after all the votes are counted the Democratic caucus in the House at least will not have a majority of white protestant men.

That's just some of the progress we have made in this country. That's some change.

I hope that kid in the A&F t-shirt chooses to go to a big public university like Ohio State. Not some little private university in the middle of nowhere. He really needs to encounter some diversity. He has the potential of not being a total moron.
