SecondHandJets Icon : (24 May 2013 - 09:25 PM) I've read a ton of articles and all had him as the favorite
SecondHandJets Icon : (24 May 2013 - 09:25 PM) Who was the favorite then?
SecondHandJets Icon : (24 May 2013 - 09:27 PM) "Smith was already going to be on most Heisman preseason lists, but a 407-yard, 6-TD performance in the Orange Bowl win over Clemson only solidified him as an elite passer. He can make every throw on the field and has a plethora of talented receivers coming back. Since this team will likely be playing in the Big 12, which has had the uncanny knack for inflating quarterback numbers recently, Smith and head coach Dana Holgorsen are going to leave opposing defenses charred and crippled on most Saturdays."
SecondHandJets Icon : (24 May 2013 - 09:27 PM) That's from a Jan 2012 article

Jetsman05 Icon : (24 May 2013 - 09:53 PM) 4th makes him the favorite?
Jetsman05 Icon : (24 May 2013 - 09:53 PM) you said he was the favorite
Jetsman05 Icon : (24 May 2013 - 09:53 PM) he wasn't anything near the favorite
Jetsman05 Icon : (24 May 2013 - 09:54 PM) he reached his pinnacle in the heisman race in the early part of last season
Jetsman05 Icon : (24 May 2013 - 09:54 PM) at that point he was the favorite
Jetsman05 Icon : (24 May 2013 - 09:56 PM) also, what a basketball game

SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 12:36 AM) I said that his time last year, he was the favorite. I misspoke. He was 3rd or 4th. He certainly wasn't "not even in the 2nd tier" like you claimed
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 12:36 AM) Take your medicine Matty
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 12:36 AM) Maybe you should watch more college football instead of talking about watching college football
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 06:46 AM) No he wasn't 3rd or 4th
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 06:47 AM) He was the 4th favorite in vegas, making him no where near the favorite
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 06:47 AM) Barkley had 3/2 odds, Geno was 9-1

We all scream to dump Brian Schottenheimer last year, and we got it! Becareful what you wish for. Now we have Tony Sporano. I like Tony but don't believe this was an up grade! So now what? Our QB situation is a mess, no running backs, no good WR, (Holmes not a team guy) line looks avg., TE is really our only solid position. Who do we blame now? Mr T. our general manger. Great cap guy but not a football guy. Remember he started with Parcells just for the cap. We need a new GM. Rex I believe is a good coach. He does get talent to play hard. But when you have no talent, you're only going to win the games we won. Tebow should be traded. I'm sure he is a great guy and all, but him and his faith our not helping this team. We need more then a pray. Sorry guys. Lets hear some good solutions here.

This is not a subject of absolutes. Our roster is thin to say the least, but Schotty was a disaster... the fact that we replaced him with Sparano who called plays for one year in Dallas... well... that's on Tanny as well, no? BTW, the last GM we fired is still on the staff and (I believe) heads the scouting department. So, really, we have a guy who got fired for running the team poorly making the decision on future talent and his accountant is now running day to day operations. Who would allow such a thing? Woody.

Schotty had a lot more to work with than this years jets offense. Schotty did shit with offenses that had some talent, like the 2008-2010 teams. We had good RBs, great OL, and solid WRs yet did nothing, even had 2 veteran QBs.

This years offense has no talent at all, one of the worst offenses I have seen assembled.

Rams are 24th in Yards per game, and 28th in points per game. This with probably an equally talented WR corp, and definitely a better quarterback. So, Schotty can still choke on a nasty pile of dung. Schotty needed to be dumped regardless of who replaced him.

It's time for Tanny to go.

He sucks. Sporano has less to work witb but still sucks. Tanny sucks at talent. Ryan sucks at coaching. Him getting more out of playrs doesn't actually happen except when the team is doing well. When the team struggles they quit because Ryan doesn't actually know how to motivate people since he is a cheerleader.

Sorry guys but after last night Sporan looks as Schottenheimer did. The problem is much deeper. Star with the GM and work our way down. I don't care how hard he works, he's not a football guy!

I'm all for giving Rex another shot as bad as it seems. I think he can coach talent but the Jets need to do two things for him to be successful. First, Tanny needs to go. Jets need a guy who can get talent and draft well. Send him to the accounts department. Second, get veteran leaders. Richardson, Faneca, Woody, T. Jones were the leaders of this team. No one on this team is living up to that position. Rex can only succeed with these two conditions. It's painfully obvious that Rex is a friend more than a boss. It's not going to cut it in this position.

Buddies aren't effective leaders. It is why the team quits so easily. Ryan just tells them he has a feeling things will go better. The Ryan twins are about as overrated as it gets.

Schottenheimer needed to go either way... Look at how the Jets were saying how they knew what plays were being called by the Rams, hes awful. Sparano has nothing to work with and I'm not saying hes good either, there are tons of problems on this team but getting rid of him was necessary.
