Jetsfan0099 Icon : (23 January 2015 - 03:06 PM) Rodgers is a highly regarded DL coach, I know Dolphin fans are pissed we hired him. They wanted him to be their DC

HarlemHxC814 Icon : (23 January 2015 - 10:06 PM) Lol wow
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:17 AM) I hate when people say mangini built our team, I didn't know he was gm. Tannenbaum was good at making moves

The Jets are hiring Bears nat'l scout Rex Hogan as their director of college scouting. Chicago has released him from his contract
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 07:40 PM) @AlbertBreer 14m14 minutes ago
The Jets are also hiring Rams scout Brian Heimerdinger to a prominent front-office role. St. Louis let him out of his deal.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 07:48 PM) Heimerdinger is our director of player personnel now
ganggreen2003 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:12 PM) That is Mike Heimerdinger's son who used to be our OC in 05
ganggreen2003 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:12 PM) hopefully his son isn't as horrible as his pop was at play calling
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:17 PM) Everyone looks like a bad playcaller when you have no QB and have no talent
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:18 PM) When Heimerdinger was our OC it was when we had a ton of injuries on offense, were down to our 4th or 5th string QB

New York Jets: Bizarre Controversy as Writer Is Caught with Fake Twitter Account

According to John B of GangGreenNation.com and supported by (among others) Brian Bassett of SNY's TheJetsBlog.com, there is a strange scandal mounting in New York Jets land.

Rich Cimini of ESPN, who writes primarily about the New York Jets, has apparently been caught red-handed running a fake Twitter account that he uses to parody and slander other beat writers.

According to the reports, Cimini runs a Twitter account (@steiny55) that masquerades as Jake Steinberg (true account @steiny31) of TheJetsBlog.com. The account has also been used to slander Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News and Jane McManus of ESPNNewYork.com.

In one of the more bizarre occurrences in recent Twitter history, Cimini accidentally posted legitimate breaking news about Jets linebacker Calvin Pace from his fake account. The post was then deleted from the fake account and reposted under Cimini's official account, but not before the tweet was noticed and screen-shotted.

Cimini is reportedly denying the accusation, although the evidence seems both comical and convincing. Commented Bassett:

Quote

I don't possess direct knowledge, but there's evidence it's a member of the press. I'm around the Jets beat very infrequently, but it doesn't take much time to get a sense just how dysfunctional it is as a group, so much so that someone would waste time making fun of genuinely good people. Even if they try and couch it as just in fun, the person responsible for the account spent a preseason gameday tweeting over 70 times rather than doing their job, that tells me all I care to know.

The type of content being produced by this beat writer's fake account includes direct attempts to hurt the reputations of other Jets beat writers, such as this one:

Is there any fan, even a casual one, that feels Manish Mehta knows more about football than they do?

Either Cimini just got caught in quite the embarrassing predicament, or there is another beat writer out there who has pulled off a masterful frame job. Either way, it makes for a strange set of events on Twitter.

lmao that is awesome. I've followed that fake steinberg before and to find out he is really Cimini makes it even better. And I agree with the Manish tweet, so true.

God I hate Cimini...I hope this gets him fired off ESPN so they can bring in someone competent. This made a pretty shitty Tuesday not so bad.
