So this season I've been gambling on games with my cousin who moved out to Vegas. He usually hits the casinos on Fridays so I give him my picks. I just compiled this email, I figure that some of you guys may have some thought or could just use a break from the Jets talk:

"I'm really trying to think my way through this week so I'm doing my research early. I'll probably end up sending you a couple of emails, but here's what I'm thinking so far:

12/22 8:30 ETAtlanta-3.5At Detroit50.5: Is this a f***ing joke? ATL just blew out the Giants and Detroit just got blown out by THE CARDINALS! Is this a typo? Did they mean to make it -13.5? Atlanta wins homefield advantage if they beat the Lions so they have something to play for, unless someone is hurt I really don't understand this line at all. ATL all the way.


12/23 1:00 ETAt Green Bay-13 Tennessee 46: Tennessee sucks but this line is a little scary. The Packers have to beat the Titans by 2 TDs to cover. They already clinched the North and would need to win out + have SF lose out to clinch the 2nd bye in the NFC. I just don't like the line.

12/23 1:00 ETAt Carolina-8.5Oakland 46: I was hoping this line would be lower, but Oakland is absolutely horrible while Carolina won 3 of it's last games. Oakland flying across the country is enough for me to bet the Carolina even if they need 2 scores to cover.

12/23 1:00 ETAt Miami-4.5Buffalo 42: I'm a big CJ Spiller fan and I absolutely hate Miami. I'm staying away from this game.

12/23 1:00 ETAt Pittsburgh-4Cincinnati 43: The Steelers need this to get into the playoffs. The Bengals need this to get into the playoffs. Division game. I can see it being decided by a late FG. I'm leaning towards the Bengals. This is one of those games that the line might shift come Friday night. So Bengals for now. I do think the overall is a little high. I can't see both teams scoring 3 tds on those defenses. Something to think about.

12/23 1:00 ET New England-14.5 At Jacksonville49 Jacksonville is terrible. NE just lost. NE coming off a loss against Chad Henne? I'm taking NE and I honestly think that they will hit 40. Can the Jaguars score 10? If so, that over looks pretty good.

12/23 1:00 ETIndianapolis-6.5At Kansas City 41.5 This looks too easy. I'm going to check to make sure Reggie Wayne isn't injured or something. Colts are feeling good and have a legit shot at getting the #6 spot. KC just got shut out by Oakland. OAKLAND. I'll take the Colts.


12/23 1:00 ETAt Dallas-3New Orleans 51.5 I already know how this is going to go. Cowboys have a shot at the division. They get pumped up after a big win against the Steelers and promptly shit the bed. Brees absolutely destroyed Tampa Bay. I'm going to google Dallas pass defense rankings but unless they're in the Top 5, which they aren't, I'm taking Brees. Dez Bryant looked like shit against the Steelers (that TD was fluff) so I don't know about the over although I can see this being a 35-27 game easily.

12/23 1:00 ETWashington-5.5At Philadelphia 44.5 It kinda feels like a wierd week where both the Redskins and the Cowboys might loose because Eli Manning is a lucky f***. That line looks a little too inviting. I'm staying away until I see RG3 doing some throwing in practice.

12/23 1:00 ETAt Tampa Bay-3St. Louis 43.51: Both these teams are disgusting in the sense that they can score 40 and give up 40 any week without much reason. I think that since neither has anything to play for, the Bucs will win because they have more weapons. That line basically means that it's a pick 'em so I'm going to go with the Bucs after i check where the Rams rank in run defense (because Doug Martin is about to win me my FF league).

2/23 4:25 ETNY Giants-2.5At Baltimore 47.5 Flacco sucks. Ravens defense is a shell. Torry Smith is concussed and will most likely not play. Bradshaw is supposedly coming back. The Ravens don't have any deep threats to expose the Giants f*****y *beep* CBs so I think that Eli will win this.

12/23 1:00 ETAt Houston-7.5Minnesota44 I really like Minny. Maybe too much. I think that the Texans are wayyyyyy overrated. To me, they only won one quality game-against the Bears, and the Bears are about to fire their HC if they miss the playoffs. I don't think Houston can keep AD under 150 but the problem is, Ponder can't throw for over 150. I really like Minny so I'm going to pass on this.

12/23 4:05 ETAt Denver-13.5 Cleveland 44.5 This is the same think as the Pats game. They could've made the spread 4 points higher. Denver can shut the run down and Peyton is going to pick this defense apart.

12/23 4:25 ETChicago-5.5At Arizona 36.5 This is a scary ass game. AZ all of a sudden scored 35 points. Urlacher is fighting with fans and Lovie Smith is on the hot seat. Jay Cutler is still Jay Cutler. With that said, I can't put $$$ on AZ. Although this game does have 2 defenses that can score, so I think that overall is a little low. We're basically winning if its a 20-17 or 24-13 game, right? Definitely a possibility.

12/23 1:00 ETAt NY Jets-2.5San Diego 40.5 Man I hate to bet on the Jets but I feel good about this game. Since no one wants to watch either of these games, this got flexed to 1PM in NY. Which means that SD will have to fly cross country and play the early game. Very tough even when you're not being coached by Norv Turner. Jets defense has really been locking down against the pass (5th best) and the Chargers just lost Matthews for the year. The Jets got a couple of guys (Greene, Keller, McElroy, DeVito, Scott, Landry & Bell) who are basically auditioning for contracts. I can see the Jets winning this by 5 points and Rex Ryan declaring that the Jets are world championship contenders in 2013. "

As far as the Jets game basically if you feel the Jets will win I say go with your gut. Im not going into the other games because you are the one gambling so you have probably done enough research to make logical choices.

I myself am 50/50 on this game because of how Rivers and Gates have lit teams up in the past when Rivers wasn't pressured. If the Jets can run on the Chargers and Mcelroy is at least as competent as a solid game manager as I think he is the only issue I see as a problem is the lack of Jets front 7 pressure on opposing o-lines....even bad ones.We just aren't consistent with the pass rush and pressure. I think we should blitz a lot.

So yes I think the Jets have a great shot at winning this game as long as Rivers is pressured. If not he might lite the Jets up even with a crappy receiving core that he has....other than Gates. Gates is getting old and slowing down though.

Ive seen a lot of the Chargers since I usually keep the 8 games at once screen up on Sunday Ticket and the Chargers are have as many problems as the Jets do with the exception of rivers. I dont think he is done yet....just a bad cast around him.
