San Diego Chargers coach Norv Turner would be open to taking NY Jets offensive coordinator position if let go, Tony Sparano fired

Norv Turner, the embattled Chargers coach, left the door open to taking an offensive coordinator position with another team if he is fired by San Diego (5-9) after the season. “People that know me, know I’m a coach,” Turner said. “I like to coach. I’d love to continue to coach, no question.”

Turner, 60, also said he has a solid relationship with Ryan, who may be in the market for a coordinator if Tony Sparano is fired. “I think Rex knows the respect I have for him,” Turner said.

Last year, Turner and Ryan exchanged barbs before the Jets’ 27-21 victory Oct. 24. Ryan boasted that he could have won a couple of rings if he had been coaching the Chargers. Turner answered by asking if the Jet coach had rings for the Super Bowls he had guaranteed. Ryan called Turner to apologize before the game.

Turner noted that he has not been told about his future with the Chargers. “If there’s something that’s exciting, you consider it,” he said.

Don't let him out of NY this Sunday. Just beat the Chargers, grab him on the way out and offer him a contract.

Wasn't Tony the O-line coach when he was the OC in Dallas with Aikman and company? Demote TS to O-Line and put him in as OC.
