Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:23 PM) He might not even of been in the second tier of players
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 09:25 PM) I've read a ton of articles and all had him as the favorite
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 09:25 PM) Who was the favorite then?
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 09:27 PM) "Smith was already going to be on most Heisman preseason lists, but a 407-yard, 6-TD performance in the Orange Bowl win over Clemson only solidified him as an elite passer. He can make every throw on the field and has a plethora of talented receivers coming back. Since this team will likely be playing in the Big 12, which has had the uncanny knack for inflating quarterback numbers recently, Smith and head coach Dana Holgorsen are going to leave opposing defenses charred and crippled on most Saturdays."
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 09:27 PM) That's from a Jan 2012 article

Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:53 PM) 4th makes him the favorite?
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:53 PM) you said he was the favorite
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:53 PM) he wasn't anything near the favorite
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:54 PM) he reached his pinnacle in the heisman race in the early part of last season
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:54 PM) at that point he was the favorite
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:56 PM) also, what a basketball game

SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 12:36 AM) Take your medicine Matty
SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 12:36 AM) Maybe you should watch more college football instead of talking about watching college football
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 06:46 AM) No he wasn't 3rd or 4th
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 06:47 AM) He was the 4th favorite in vegas, making him no where near the favorite

Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 11:26 AM) Or even close to the favorite?

I would have added "which OC was worse?" to the poll and "is it more the OCs or the players?" too, but you can only put in three questions max.

1-Sanchez is garbage, the Jets failed him with not providing him with good weapons but it doesn't matter at this point because he just plain sucks. Makes way too many mistakes.

2-Tim Tebow is misused, but he is also a bad QB. The Jets could have used him in better ways but Sparano has no creativity on offense.

3-I think Ryan is closer to a top 16 coach than a bottom 16 coach. I do not blame him for the team having no talent and injuries. Give him a decent offense with a QB who doesn't make the same dumb mistakes constantly and he will get this team to the playoffs. I feel like we might be the least talented team in football, we have outperformed teams with more talent.

The Lions are 4-11 and have much more talent than we have. The Chiefs are 2-13 and have more talent than we have. The Eagles are 4-11 with more talent than we have. The Panthers are 6-9 with more talent. The Cardinals at 5-10 have more talent than us, though they have a worse OL and QB. we are pretty much at the bottom in terms of team talent, especially with the injuries to some of our best players.

Mark has showed increasing signs of indecision/just plain bad decisions (esp. in the redzone) in his career. He got away with it in his first 2 seasons (recall that we had 4 miracle comebacks in his first season which could just as easily gone the other way) but it has caught up with him lately. The Revis holdout, lockout and key injuries this year plus lack of coach/receiver continuity did not help him but he could not overcome the adversity and 'rise above' as a good leader should do. After the first 2 promising years of Ryan's tenure the last 2 have been bizzare to put it mildly. I don't know where you begin to rectify the shortcomings of this team. For better or worse, you have to give Ryan and Sanchez one more year- if only b/c the other options seem non existent right about now.

Sanchez has been more mishandled than bad in my eyes. The lack of continuity at receiver has done him no favour, but this year he's also had to deal with the poor quality at running back. His play has warranted the benching, while he also has the David Carr 'deer in headlights' syndrome about him now from having had any semblance of confidence drained from his body.
I'm with 0099 on Tebow - he's a bad QB, but at the same time an offensive threat who can make things happen with his legs. The fact his first complete series did not come until the Titans game says a lot, and I'd have prefered if he had the odd series, as opposed to the odd snap in games, because when we have gone to the Tebow package it has invariably led to confusion and sometimes a wasted timeout.
Regarding Rex, I voted bottom 16 as he's been clueless when it comes to getting this team out of the rut it finds itself in. It's acceptable to lose to good teams who have more talent, but the way we crashed against New England (at home), San Francisco, Seattle and Miami was unacceptable. The only real chance we had of knocking off a better team was away in New England, and even then the team shot themselves in the foot (for instance that night our STs let up a kickoff return TD). Houston were made to work for victory that Monday night game, but then it was more a case of the Jets keeping in touch than threatening to go ahead.

Thankfully there's only one more week of this sorry season to go. Then it will be interesting to find out which direction the owner decides to take the team in, and to see the personnel decisions that are made by whoever will be in charge of making them.
