Jetsfan0099 Icon : (17 May 2013 - 04:53 PM) Sounds like it may not be as bad with Goodson. I could see him ending up with a 4 game suspension for possession, the gun charges probably going to the other guy.

Before the New York Jets hired a search firm to look for a new general manager, the team spoke to former Indianapolis Colts executive Bill Polian, Mike Garafolo and Jim Corbett of USA Today report. This according to a person briefed on the talks between Polian and the organization.

The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Polian expressed to the team he wasn't interested in taking the job.

Polian, currently an analyst for ESPN, would neither confirm nor deny he spoke to the Jets about the job when contacted Sunday evening.

Quite frankly, can you really blame anyone for not wanting anything to do with this black hole of an organization?

This is actually good news, overrated. I like who the Jets are after, apparently they have a good shot at Tom Gamble, people close to him are saying that its a good fit for him because hes from the Philly area.

Any reputable GM in the NFL is not and will not come in to a situation with his hand tied. Whoever comes in has to deal with the fact that Rex is the coach. That GM can't fire Rex and bring his own guy. Woody made that clear. And also Rex has a say on who the GM is. Come one man. What kind of organization is this. That's why we're a joke and always will be. Woody just doesn't get it.

Woody says Rex is coach for next season. No where has it been reported that (a) Rex has a say on who the GM is and (b) GM can't hire a new coach next season. I think it's a smart move and shouldn't affect the hiring of a quality GM. Now if either points I stated are proven to be wrong, I'm in your boat. But until then, this was a good call.

Polian is at the end of his career. He's not going to take on a challenge. He's got enough money in the bank to never have to wake up at 5 AM again. He's looking for a dream job, a team he can turn around in 2 years, win a championship to secure his legacy and then hand it off to his son. He's not looking for a team with cap problems and a shitty QB.

I agree. Pollian lucked out with having the 1st pick and getting Manning. His track record outside of that is average.
