CLEVELAND -- The following are the latest reports and rumors surrounding the Browns' coaching and GM searches:
* JETS, OTHERS WANT HECKERT: Former Browns general manager Tom Heckert has begun talking to other teams and could have a GM job soon, league sources said. A report Tuesday that he was in line to join Andy Reid in Arizona if Reid gets the Cardinals job is untrue. The Jets have scheduled interviews with Heckert and others. But Heckert might land a job even before the Jets get a crack at him. At least one other team is heavily pursuing him.
* HOLMGREN READY: Former Browns President Mike Holmgren, 64, told ESPN's Ed Werder he's willing to listen to offers for some of these seven head coaching vacancies. He said he won't aggressively pursue jobs himself. "If anyone is interested, I'll listen,'' he said. Holmgren has relocated to Arizona, where the Cardinals are looking for a replacement for fired coach Ken Whisenhunt.
* REID TO CARDINALS?: Multiple reports surfaced Tuesday that Reid was close to getting the Cardinals job, and Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports reported that he'll interview there Wednesday. But the Cardinals are also interviewing their defensive coordinator Ray Horton a second time, according to profootballtalk.com. Horton also interviewed Tuesday with the Browns. On Wednesday, he'll also talk to the Bills, profootballtalk.com added.
* KOETTER TO TALK TO EAGLES: Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, whom the Browns will interview this week according to Alex Marvez of Fox Sports, will also interview with the Eagles, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Looks like the Browns and Eagles have the same short list.

Fifteen years ago after an especially disappointing loss to Miami, Esiason, then the Jets' quarterback, was making the seven-mile drive from the Meadowlands back to Manhattan.
While he was slogging through stop-and-go traffic at the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel, the car next to him was violently rear-ended. The quarterback threw his car into park, hopped out and ran to the woman whose car had been hit. She was wearing, of all things, an Esiason jersey, and was utterly shocked when he tapped on her window to check on her.
"Are you OK?" he said, trying to keep calm. "Are you OK?"
"Boomer? Is that you?" she asked the Good Samaritan, sounding disoriented. "I think I'm OK, but . ... "
But what?
"But you guys sucked."
Welcome to the New York Jets, Tim Tebow.

why? because we're the jets.
Sal Paolantonio commenting on the difference in the Ryan and Mangini atmospheres in the building:
"It's like going from Alcatraz to Dorney Park."

It is better to destroy than create what is meaningless, so the picture will not be finished.

Do your homework...from jetsblog:
"People look at Tom Heckert and see Cleveland Browns and unfortunately don’t see past it. Heckert had a long run as a scout and then Director of Player Personnel with the Dolphins in the 90s, then went on to be Reid’s right hand man in Philly during the NFC Championship and Super Bowl run. Heckert knows how to put together a team. While he only had three years with the Browns, he was building quite a roster. Joe Haden, Phil Taylor, Jabaal Sheard, Greg Little, Trent Richardson, Brandon Weeden, Mitchell Schwartz and Billy Winn? Not to mention Josh Gordon who looks to be a very promising receiver that the Browns took in the Supplemental Draft this past summer. The Browns play in one of the toughest divisions in football and I think were in the midst of building some long-term stability through the draft. Heckert was a casualty of the addition of Joe Banner. Banner and Heckert don’t have the best history and so Heckert was out once Banner was in. Heckert won’t get the same traction as other candidates, but the dude can build a team."

the gm is responsible for overseeing the talent geared to play into the philosophy of that team.
blitzing def w/cover corners?
zone def w/zone style corners?
run heavy line and backfield?
pass heavy line and speedy backfield?
west coast qb and recievers?
balanced attack run/pass players?
and let's not forget the salary cap.the jets need someone who values the draft and has foresight of the direction of the league.
got all this? summary is idk who the guy should be but it ain't this bum. cleveland has had too many guys like this.

Well he seems to be out with recent rumors of Reid to KC. Hopefully Pioli doesn't become a target now.
