Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:02 AM) I doubt Smith will be as bad as Clausen anyways
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:03 AM) I remember watching Clausen in a NFL game and the guy couldn't even throw a spiral.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:03 AM) Geno has been impressing teammates with how well he can spin the ball and sling it.
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:31 AM) I hope Geno turns out to be a f***ing monster
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:52 AM) andrew luck was hyped up for like 3 years before he entered teh draft
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 11:34 AM) tehhhh
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 11:37 AM) it wasn't for 3 years and Andrew Luck is the best QB prospect to come out in years. Teddy Bridgewater most likely isn't Luck or RGIII
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 11:40 AM) I've only seen Bridgewater play once. That was against Florida, I actually watched that game.
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 12:12 PM) Teddy will be a good NFL QB I think
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Yesterday, 12:52 PM) THE KNICKS
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 01:21 PM) THE. KNICKS.
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 02:43 PM) Geno was the favorite to win the Heisman this time last year
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 02:44 PM) He was also a Top 5 pick this time last year
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 02:44 PM) If he came out in 2012, he might have gotten drafted before RG3
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 02:56 PM) TEH KNICKS
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 03:25 PM) noway he would have been drafted before RGIII
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:00 PM) Tehhhh
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:12 PM) chuck norris said tebow is a great QB. i'm so conflicted becuase tebow sucks but on the other hand if chuck norris said it, it must be true lol
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:21 PM) Geno was not the favorite to win the heisman going into the year lol
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:21 PM) you don't watch college football, stop
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:23 PM) He might not even of been in the second tier of players
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 09:25 PM) I've read a ton of articles and all had him as the favorite
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 09:25 PM) Who was the favorite then?
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 09:27 PM) "Smith was already going to be on most Heisman preseason lists, but a 407-yard, 6-TD performance in the Orange Bowl win over Clemson only solidified him as an elite passer. He can make every throw on the field and has a plethora of talented receivers coming back. Since this team will likely be playing in the Big 12, which has had the uncanny knack for inflating quarterback numbers recently, Smith and head coach Dana Holgorsen are going to leave opposing defenses charred and crippled on most Saturdays."
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 09:27 PM) That's from a Jan 2012 article
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 09:27 PM) You can google shit from 14 months ago and find a f*** ton of these

SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 09:32 PM) He was 4th according to Vegas odds in April 2012
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:53 PM) 4th makes him the favorite?
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:53 PM) you said he was the favorite
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:53 PM) he wasn't anything near the favorite
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:54 PM) he reached his pinnacle in the heisman race in the early part of last season
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:54 PM) at that point he was the favorite
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:56 PM) also, what a basketball game
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Yesterday, 10:21 PM) 4 point game
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Yesterday, 10:21 PM) maybe the pacers are that good
SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 12:36 AM) I said that his time last year, he was the favorite. I misspoke. He was 3rd or 4th. He certainly wasn't "not even in the 2nd tier" like you claimed
SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 12:36 AM) Take your medicine Matty
SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 12:36 AM) Maybe you should watch more college football instead of talking about watching college football
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 06:46 AM) No he wasn't 3rd or 4th
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 06:47 AM) He was the 4th favorite in vegas, making him no where near the favorite
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 06:47 AM) Barkley had 3/2 odds, Geno was 9-1
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 06:48 AM) It's whatever

Jets owner Woody Johnson to explore trading Darrelle Revis

The New York Jets, fresh off an exhaustive hunt for new general manager John Idzik, will explore options to deal star corner Darrelle Revis this offseason, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

Revis, whose contract voids after the 2014 season, is set to earn $6 million in 2013 (between salary and bonuses), and owner Woody Johnson has strong reservations about the ability to extend Revis's deal, the sources said. Johnson has expressed his desire to attempt to land value for Revis now, rather than risk losing him as an unrestricted free agent a year from now, most likely seeking as much draft-pick compensation for him as possible.

The Jets are very much in transition mode, they have cap issues moving forward and are trying to embark on a rebuilding processafter firing former long-time general manager Mike Tannenbaum. Revis, who missed almost all of last season after suffering a torn ACL, engaged in a long holdout in 2010 that resulted in a contract extension that was more of a Band-Aid than anything else.

Revis signed a seven-year deal then that voids to a four-year pact, thus making him an unrestricted free agent after the 2013 season. The deal also precludes him being hit with the franchise tag or any other such mechanism. Johnson has made it very clear he would like to pursue a means to reap rewards for Revis now, sources said, and it is likely to be an immediate part of Idzik's initial job duties.

Revis is considered by many to be the best defensive player in the game. And with pass rusher Mario Williams earning$60 million guaranteedfrom Buffalo a year ago, Johnson understands how financially restrictive it would be to retain him. His team desperately needs young, cheap, impact players to help reposition the team for the future, with 2013 a year of transition.

Revis is the only real trading chip that he has. Knee injury or not, there would be no shortage of teams interested in securing his services and no shortage of rebuilding teams sitting on massive cap space in 2013. The Jets are also likely to be hard-pressed to retain free agents like tight end Dustin Keller, running back Shonn Greene and defensive tackle Mike DeVito, though they will make a push to retain DeVito, the sources said.

Getting Revis signed to an extension would be a possibility to trying to remedy this situation, but the sources said Johnson has established his desire to move him if he can secure fair value in exchange.

Dealing Revis would incur a $9 million cap hit due to some option-bonus prorations involved in the contract -- thus Revis would count an additional $3 million against the cap than he is currently scheduled to -- but the Jets could navigate that relatively easily according to sources familiar with their cap situation, via a restructuring or by releasing a veteran. The team is using 2013 as a year for cap and budgetary housecleaning, to get situated for the future. It stands to reason that come 2014, both Revis and head coach Rex Ryan, are gone.

As CBS reported, Jets owner Woody Johnson has expressed concern over Revis's future, and has told people "we have to make a decision" on 24.

I applaud this move. Plant the seed now to see what interest there is and what we can get. If we get a great package, god bless. If not, have him play out the year. A provision that precludes a franchise tag is a killer and was a terrible concession on Tanny's part. We know Revis is going to want a max deal, and, more likely than not, will tell the FO "Hey, I'm the best and I want all 32 teams to bid on me. I'm testing the FA market.". Good move to maximize value now since we're more than one player away from the SB.

I rather trade Cromartie and lock up Revis. While Cro had a great season, he is not Revis. And we would save over 10 mil in cap space by trading Cro.

woody is turning into Jerry Jones 2.0. Trading Revis would be a big mistake .

Been a die hard fan sine 1967. Have seen it all with this team. But the owners in the past were more hands off. Now we have one that can't be fired and envisions himself another Jerry Jones.

Johnson needs to take a step back and see this franchise for what it has become. Under his ownership, he has a coach that has talent but is a loose cannon constantly bringing unwanted attention to the team while not being aware his locker room is completely fractured (still can't understand how that is possible). His guarantees, tattoos, stomach stapling, feet fetish is more info in 4 years than we knew about Landry, Shula, Parcells, Bellichick. Nolls, Harbaugh(s)or any other great ones in their entire careers. Where does it say the coach is the dominant news maker on a team.

We have a QB that is not just terrible but is rewarded financially and irreversibly for being terrible because they don't want to hurt his feelings.

And then, as we are willing to spend a fortune to not upset this major talent, we go out and trade for Tebow who is sold a bill of goods so he gets screwed while undermining whatever confidence Sanchez has that they paid to build - confusing? You bet - but a normal day in Jet land.

They have to fire a GM because he is a front office person with none to limited talent evaluation skills and then hire another GM with the same limitations. Don't get me wrong - he may turn out to be great but on paper, he is another cap specialist.

We have arguably the slowest team in football. Who is fast on this team? Stephen Hill - maybe if he can stay healthy long enough to see and can actually hold onto the ball if thrown to him by someone who has no accuracy. Cro is probably the fastest of any impact player on the team.

And now - the braintrust has decided that they should trade Revis before we lose him for nothing. And when is the perfect time to trade him? When he is coming off an ACL tear so his market value is at its lowest (still relatively high but lower than it would have been)!!! Here's a novel idea. KEEP HIM AND IF NECESSARY GET RID OF SOME OVERPRICED PLAYERS IN 2014 IN ORDER TO SATISFY HIS CONTRACT DEMANDS. I know that is painful to Johnson but this guy walks his walk. He is the best in the game and makes the entire defense better. It's like paying a bunch of guys because the others benefit from his ability to remove half the field.

But rest assured Jet fans. Unless Idzik can control this asylum, Revis will be gone for draft choices that more often than not turn out to be disappointments. Just like the Jets.

I know I sound bitter and I am. I root like crazy for this team as we all do who frequent this site. All I am asking for is what most other teams have. Competency.

In regard to the highlighted article, if the bengals can get what they got for palmer, the broncos could pull off the trade they pulled off with the bears to get culter, or the lions getting what they got from the cowboys to obtain Roy Williams...there should be no reason what-so-ever that the jets can only get a 2013 2nd round pick and a conditional swaping of their 2nd round pick for someone elses first round pick in 14'. Potentially only a 2nd round pick? Granted two of these guys are QB's and granted Revis is coming off a knee injury, but revis's injury has been proven multiple times with today medical advancements of being fully recoverable. If the Jets get anything less than a first, 2nd, and a mid to late draft pick, I will really disappointed and quite honestly disgusted.

If Pace is getting paid ~11M and Scott is getting paid ~8M that money shouldn't be used (if/when they're cut)to lock up one of the best CBs to ever play?

were pretty stacked at CB right now. with that said i would trade cro. he's gotta be woth a 1st rounder after last year. eh is still young and under contract for 3 more years at decent money. revis is a once in a generation player. no way we get rid of him. wilson is good enough to start and is cheaper.

Fvck Revis. Everyone saying trade Cro over Revis needs their heads examined. Trade the guy that led the defene to the #2 pass defebnse over the guy that led it to the #5 and wants max money? WTF is wrong with you guys? Cro has actually been loyal to the team where Revis is nothing more than Meshawn Johnson reincarnate. No wonder the team is in the shape it is. Woody wants to appease fans that don't know their d!ck from dirt apparently. You guys want to reward morons that want max money to do nothing but think of themselves first. you guys are the same people that said you'd prefer Holmes over Braylon Edwards. Holmes' career year he averaged 1 TD every other game. At least B.E.'s career best year he averaged 1 per game instead of one every other game.

Yes....Revis USED TO lock down one side of the field but he also demands the money of two players which the team CAN NOT afford & we have no idea if he's worth it or not coming off the ACL injury. You guys are all gung-ho on paying him top dollar when he's nothing more than a question mark because of what he was able to do in the past & want to trade away the guy that gave us a better dfense than when he was here. In what world does that make ANY sense? Revis' camp is making it clear he wants $16 million per year. I don't give a flying fvck who he THINKS he is.....he's NOT worth it. He's nothing more than a legend in his own mind.
I will not be forgotten. This is my time to shine. I've got the scars to prove it. Only the strong survive.

If the players don't put themselves first, who will? Certainly not the owners who backload the big money for every contract...in any case, it's refreshing to see that shooting him in the head isnt a viable alternative
