Right now if you look up and down our roster were set at these postions

CB (revis, cro, wilson)
ILB (harris, davis)
DE (wilk and coples)
LT, C, RG (brick, mangold, moore)

everything else has issues
WRs lack depth and experiance
QB is a joke
LG and RT is a joke
RBs are average at best abd greene is a FA
TE is a joke of keller walks
OLB = old and slow
DT only pohua and he's been hurt lately and isn't young

I'm a fan of Tyler Eifert as well, I watched him play and he has skill. I would love drafting him.

ILB: Davis played sparingly and I like him as a prospect but I don't know if he's ready to start full time. Harris might be a candidate to get cut in 2014 because of the contract he got. He'll probably restructure tho. He's a damn good player, but he's making All Pro money.

RG: Moore is a FA and I don't know if we have the cap room to bring him back.

i say if we trade revis, trade him to new orleans for a 1st rnd pick and ivory (and whatever else we can get out of them; maybe a third rnd pick). ivory is a hard runner. he reminds me of marshawn lynch. also the saints first rnd pick is 15th i think. having the 9th and 15th pick allows us to move down for more picks. i really want us to draft chance warmack. hes gonna be a stud and we can finally go back to running the ball well. then we can get the pass rusher we so desperately need too.

this is just my scenario if the jets decide to trade revis. i dont wanna see him go.

he mihgt be overpaid for his performance the past year, but he is still a dam good player. just not 10 mil a year worth. and there was a time on hos rookie deal where he was a top 5 ILB in the game and probably is still at elast top 10. he's no patrick willis, but he still alot better then what most teams have. and the 3-4 defense doesn't need great ILBs unless your willis or ray lewis your not going to ahve a game changing ILB. its built on OLBs

Funny to say you don't need impact for ILB's then mention the two best defenses - big surprise, with the best ILB's. David Harris was made by a Bart Scott and Kris Jenkins in their prime, who destroyed blocks for him and ate up offensive lineman. As shown many times in the past few seasons, if you can get hands on David Harris, he's invisible. Absolutely awful at getting off blocks. Therefore, not a damn good player. He's as good as the people playing next to him (and infront of him).

i think we'd be fine with mauga and davis to be honest. if we cna get an OLB. your forgetting what wilis and lewis have around them.

niners have justin smith and aldon rushing the passer
ravens have ngata and suggs.

you can take willis form teh niners and their D would be just fine. I just don't think we need to have amazing LBers to run our Defense. well not ILBs

There's a reason we were near the bottom of the league in run defense. And that starts from the inside out. Lack of an interior DL presence, and overrated ILB's.

Ray Lewis struggles with getting off blocks - that's why they make sure they have a strong DL anchored by Ngata, and a ILB next to him that eats up blocks. The same way Bart Scott and Jenkins used to help Harris. When Harris is able to free-flow, he's a stud. But that's not always the case.

In the 9ers case, both Bowman and Willis destroy blocks. They are monsters. Best two ILB's in football.

I'd invest in a NT before ILBs perosnally. since when do line backers win championships? they don't. Games are won by QBs and more importantly in the trenches. the lines are the key to success

I'm going to try and do a mock offseason.

Release-
Bart Scott, saves 7.2 mil
Calvin Pace, saves 8.6 mil
Jason Smith, saves 12 mil
Eric Smith, saves 3 mil
Sione Pouha, saves 3.8 mil
Tim Tebow, saves 1.5 mil

saves 36.1 mil. Drops our team cap to 110.9 mil. We will carry over around $3 mil from unused money last season, so our max cap is around $124 mil. So we are about 13.1 mil under the cap.

Trades-

Antonio Cromartie to Detroit for a 2013 2nd round pick and 2014 conditional pick based on performance and playing time. Saves Jets $8.25 mil against the cap, the Lions need CB help badly and Cro fits their scheme pretty well and his value is at its highest right now. The only problem is I think the Lions may have cap problems, not sure though so might not make sense oh well.

Jets cap drops from 110.9 to 102.65, so we are under by 21.35 mil.

Trade a 4th round pick for Matt Flynn, he will cost about $5 mil against the cap. reports are the Seahawks would trade him for a mid round pick. Maybe have to add a 2014 conditional pick. Fits in with the WCO.


Trade a 2nd round pick for Percy Harvin, the Vikings are going to get rid of him probably and the Jets need offensive players.


Restructures-
David Harris has a $13 mil cap hit, he has to restructure his contract to save the Jets more money. Players do it all of the time because they get their money still and it saves Jets cap space.

Santonio Holmes has a $12.8 mil cap hit, see if he will restructure.

Nick Mangold has a $9 mil cap hit, see if he will restructure.

Brick can't restructure since he did last season and players can't do it 2 years in a row.

Hopefully the Jets can save around $10 mil in cap space by restructuring these 3 contracts. I'll say we save $10 mil for this so our cap drops to 92 mil and we are under by 32 mil. $5 mil of that is for rookie contracts, so we really have $27 mil to spend on players.



Re-sign.
Austin Howard will be tendered, probably cost around $1.6 mil or something.
Mike Devito, good character and plays many roles on the line. Shouldn't cost much.
Nick Folk
Brandon Moore, depends on how much he wants. But I would say about $3 mil a year.
Braylon Edwards, cheap 1 year signing could end up being cut in camp.
Jeff Cumberland.
Yeremiah Bell, he'll be cheap.
Jason Smith for cheap

Let Greene and Landry walk. Franchise Keller, $5 mil against the cap charge.

Lock up Darrelle Revis, sign him for about $12-14 mil a year. Set up his contract so that he doesn't have a huge cap hit this season, keep it around the $9 mil cap hit he currently has. We have a lot of cap space in 2014 and in the future.

Sign Connor Barwin, coming off of a down year but is young and athletic.






Draft-

Trade down from pick 9 to some team wanting to trade up, if there is that option. Depending on where we trade down we could get a extra 2nd or 3rd round pick. I'll say we don't trade down far so we get a extra 3rd.

1-Dion Jordan, has the length you want for a pass rusher and athleticism to drop into coverage and play in space.


2-Stepfan Taylor, we need a #1 RB and Taylor is that man. He can catch out of the backfield, has the speed to break big runs.


3-Some OG or OT, don't know who to take Or Manti Te'o if he slips this far.
