it was his 1st season back off a big injury.
Which is a giant red flag considering that he missed parts of the last 5 seasons and he'll be 29 in October.

plus he causes unmeasurable things to happen.
I have no idea what that is. It's pretty easy to measure what he does.

he's an enforcer and a big hitter
He's a big hit or misser. For a guy who is known as a tackler and not a cover guy, 13 missed tackles is a bit much. It was ranked the 12th most amongst safeties.

he puts fear in WRs going over the middle. he has a nasty playstyle that we need on defense.
WRs aren't scared of the middle anymore thanks to Goodell's new rules. Even James Harrison isn't scaring WRs now. There's no such thing as a "nasty playstyle" when it comes to pass coverage. It's either you cover well, or you draw a flag.

No it's not. It would make him the 4th highest paid safety (Eric Weddle, Tyvon Branch and Quinten Mikell all also make $6M. The only ones who make more is Polamalu who will restructure, Eric Berry and Antrell Rolle). I can see Byrd getting $7.5M, Goldston getting about $6.5, Reed getting about $5.5 and Landry getting somewhere in the $4.5 neighborhood.
