According to ESPN New York, free agent SS LaRon Landry is "believed" to be seeking $6 million a year.

For the elite safety Landry envisions himself being, it's actually not ridiculous money. Landry, somewhat surprisingly, made it through a full 16-game season in 2012 and forced six turnovers while recording 100 tackles. Last July, the Raiders signed SS Tyvon Branch to a four-year deal averaging $6.65 million annually. So Landry isn't trying to become the richest safety in the game. Feb 14 - 10:40 AM

I say the Jets give him 4 years at about $4.5M per year.

Landry is a big name and that's why he went to the ProBowl this season but he's just about average. He tallied 88 tackles, but his 4.7 run stop percentage was 14th among safeties despite him spending 46.2 percent of his snaps in the box. He also got beat for 16 first downs and four touchdowns, the 11th-highest number of all safeties in coverage. He misses too many tackles (his 13 were 12th highest among safeties) and oh yea, this was the first time in 5 seasons that he actually made it through the entire season.

Right now, he's the 4th best safety on the market. I doubt he sniffs $6M.

it was his 1st season back off a big injury. plus he causes unmeasurable things to happen. he's an enforcer and a big hitter (how many fmbles did he cause?) he puts fear in WRs going over the middle. he has a nasty playstyle that we need on defense. and 6 mil is very resonable

I don't think he expects to get that, that's just going to be his opening figure...i see him getting between $3.5-4.5M

Which is a giant red flag considering that he missed parts of the last 5 seasons and he'll be 29 in October.

I have no idea what that is. It's pretty easy to measure what he does.

He's a big hit or misser. For a guy who is known as a tackler and not a cover guy, 13 missed tackles is a bit much. It was ranked the 12th most amongst safeties.

WRs aren't scared of the middle anymore thanks to Goodell's new rules. Even James Harrison isn't scaring WRs now. There's no such thing as a "nasty playstyle" when it comes to pass coverage. It's either you cover well, or you draw a flag.

No it's not. It would make him the 4th highest paid safety (Eric Weddle, Tyvon Branch and Quinten Mikell all also make $6M. The only ones who make more is Polamalu who will restructure, Eric Berry and Antrell Rolle). I can see Byrd getting $7.5M, Goldston getting about $6.5, Reed getting about $5.5 and Landry getting somewhere in the $4.5 neighborhood.

I can see Landry getting a 3 year deal for 13.5 -14 over the lifetime of the deal. 3 yrs let's him show he can stay healthy.
I will not be forgotten. This is my time to shine. I've got the scars to prove it. Only the strong survive.
