ganggreen2003 Icon : (Yesterday, 12:04 PM) he's a completely weak-minded individual
ganggreen2003 Icon : (Yesterday, 12:04 PM) already back to doing what he did last season THROWING INT's
ganggreen2003 Icon : (Yesterday, 12:04 PM) sucks that Garrard retired but I'd rather suffer with Geno going through growing pains than keeping Sanchez under center in 2013
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 12:33 PM) haha gg03 throwing in the towel on sanch!
mgjetman Icon : (Yesterday, 01:37 PM) What a way to make sporrts center already, Mark......
mgjetman Icon : (Yesterday, 01:39 PM) Sanch owns the #1 blooper of all time with that butt fumble also and to make matters worse he threw it right to a friggin Pat...
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 01:53 PM) buttfumble on thanksgiving was the low point of his career
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 01:55 PM) Teammates talking shut about Sanchez
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 02:11 PM) In case you haven't heard, because why would anyone report on the Giants, Nicks is also holding out
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 02:11 PM) That makes both Cruz and Nicks.
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 02:11 PM) But who cares, Sanchez threw 3 "interceptions"!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 02:59 PM) ?
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 02:59 PM) why would we give a f*** about the Giants?
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 03:04 PM) gg03 jimmies are riled
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 03:21 PM) You're not in NY. All the backpages are focused on Sanchez
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 03:21 PM) None of the NY media even mention Cruz or Nicks
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 03:40 PM) nicks isn't holding out. he's injured still and taking it easy. cruz is holding out. why it isn't a big ordeal IDK. it would be for us
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:02 PM) maybe because theyre not that far off.
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:02 PM) Cruz wants to return back, they'll figure it out.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:41 PM) 3 mil a year off or 30% less then cruz wants. tahst alot of money to be off
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:41 PM) cruz doens't want to leave NY cause teh extra money he'll get in endorsements plus he knows taht they can RFA him this year and then Franchise next year so he might not be able to get a LTD for 3 years
Mr_Jet Icon : (Yesterday, 05:21 PM) Clemens11/Tebow15 (soon to be Smith7) said if we had just drafted Crabtree and Nicks and kept Clemens, we'd be good.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 06:44 PM) No, he can't be Smith7
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 06:44 PM) his name is reserved for garbage QBs, we don't want Geno to be bad
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 06:44 PM) He can be McElroy14
extmenace Icon : (Yesterday, 06:51 PM) we're taking bridgewater next year with the number 1 pick and treating geno like a jimmy clausen.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 06:53 PM) What makes Bridgewater better than Geno?
HurricaneJet32 Icon : (Yesterday, 07:12 PM) everything
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 07:56 PM) ^
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:16 PM) college players always get hyped up before the draft process, just wondering what makes him so much better.
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:19 PM) Stronger arm, plays in a pro system, better throwing motion, better athlete
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:19 PM) there's probably nothing Geno does right now that's better than what Teddy does
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 10:25 PM) Wouldn't it be funny with Bridgewater ends up having the type of season Barkley had?
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 07:48 AM) better athlete but never runs as well
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 07:48 AM) stronger arm but rarely throws deep
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 07:48 AM) I am trying to find this article, but Bridgewater had about the least amount of 40+ throws in college football
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 07:49 AM) I wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't viewed as highly next year. College players always get hyped up a year before the draft process. People change their opinions quickly.
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 07:56 AM) I'll put a good amount of money that Bridgewater is still highly regarded coming out next year.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:00 AM) ok I found the chart
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:00 AM) Bridgewater had 0% of his passes go 40+ yards in college
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:02 AM) he could be, I'll wait though
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:02 AM) I doubt Smith will be as bad as Clausen anyways
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:03 AM) I remember watching Clausen in a NFL game and the guy couldn't even throw a spiral.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:03 AM) Geno has been impressing teammates with how well he can spin the ball and sling it.
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 08:31 AM) I hope Geno turns out to be a f***ing monster

I believe schemes have a shelf life, they are only superior as long as everyone else isn't doing it. Two things happen when the majority of the league starts running a particular scheme:

1 - Teams learn how to prepare and game plan for the scheme, and they play against it more often so they learn how to combat it better.

2 - More teams are drafting/signing the players required for that system, making getting those players much more difficult.

Before the 3-4 became so popular, tweeners had no home in the NFL. They were too big and unathletic for OLBs, and too small to hold up as DEs. Along comes the 3-4 and now these are highly sought after elite difference makers. Early 3-4 teams were picking up these difference makers late in the draft or even undrafted.

Problem is, now everyone wants the players. 3-4 teams want tweeners and oversized NTs who can't rush the passer but demand double teams. We've seen these previously poorly regarded NTs be drafted higher and higher every year.

Dontari Poe was drafted 11th overall last year simply because he was big and strong. Despite his lack of solid tape and production, teams just need these players so they start reaching.

But, with the 3-4 become more popular...4-3 players become less sought after. Would the Jets be wise to move to a more base 4-3?

They already seem to have more 4-3 pieces than 3-4 with the current roster cuts. Bart Scott and Calvin Pace were 3-4 players, and they're now gone. The team doesn't even have a starting caliber 3-4 OLB on the roster. Take a look at some of their front 7 players below:

Muhammad Wilkerson - DE/DT
Quinton Coples - DE
Sione Pouha - NT
Kenrick Ellis - NT
Damon Harrison - NT

David Harris - MLB/ILB
Demario Davis - OLB/ILB

Quinton Coples, Demario Davis, and David Harris are arguably better or at least of equal value in a 4-3. Pouha, Ellis, and Harrison are more strictly 3-4 players...and Wilkerson is probably more suited for a 3-4, though I imagine he is good enough to succeed in either scheme.

Would it be easier to find a staring OLB and pass rushing DE for the 4-3? Or two blue chip, elite 3-4 OLB pass rushers? Also, is Coples ceiling higher in a 4-3 than Wilkerson's in a 3-4?

3-4 Lineup

? - Davis - Harris - ?

Coples - Pouha/Ellis - Wilkerson

4-3 Lineup

Davis - Harris - ?

Coples - Pouha - Wilkerson/Ellis - Wilkerson/?

The Jets rarely run a strict 3-4 defense, they play multiple fronts and use a lot of 4 down lines. they play everything, so they can take players and they will play them to their strengths. every team runs a spread in our division, so the Jets play even less 3-4 in those games.
