ROBJETS Icon : (28 August 2014 - 10:44 PM) It would be one thing if it was just the second half or 4th quarter but this was the whole game. especially getting destroyed in the 1st quarter and at least part of the 2nd where a lot of the guys will be on the team
ROBJETS Icon : (28 August 2014 - 10:48 PM) 2nd and 3rd stringers making the team had something to prove and even our 2nd stringers got owned so yes Im very concerned. The first stringers need breaks and also if some of them get injured they need to step up. So no after this performance start to finish Im very concerned
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (29 August 2014 - 06:39 AM) Meh...you're reading too much into it
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (29 August 2014 - 06:40 AM) Even in seasons where the Jets blew, I haven't seen anyone refer to the preseason to complain. Ever.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (29 August 2014 - 09:15 AM) fire izdik http://theredzone.or...rs/Default.aspx
Jetsman05 Icon : (29 August 2014 - 11:17 AM) I picture Rob and 115 as real life friends
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (29 August 2014 - 04:01 PM) Holmes can still play, problem is that hes also a cancer. He wore out his welcome with the Jets
ganggreen2003 Icon : (29 August 2014 - 08:23 PM) did Hill get cut?
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (29 August 2014 - 09:00 PM) Haven't seen anything yet
MikeGangGree... Icon : (29 August 2014 - 09:06 PM) Whos ready for the season!!? WOOOOO
azjetfan Icon : (30 August 2014 - 11:54 AM) Hill has been cut
MikeGangGree... Icon : (30 August 2014 - 01:24 PM) Who wants to take bets he ends up in NE
ROBJETS Icon : (30 August 2014 - 02:18 PM) We'll I guess you guys are fools then in thinking im a fool for being concerned. Do any of you even know that in 2013 the Jets gave up the most passing yards in the franchise since 1986? And our secondary right now is worse than last year right now. To not be concerned is utterly foolish.
ROBJETS Icon : (30 August 2014 - 02:19 PM) Unless our d-line has a monstrous year odds are the team will be eaten up in the pass. Every team will game plan to exploit the pass this year.
ROBJETS Icon : (30 August 2014 - 02:56 PM) Patterson got cut
flood555 Icon : (30 August 2014 - 03:24 PM) Patterson must have been a huge cancer to get cut
flood555 Icon : (30 August 2014 - 03:26 PM) is there a midseason draft? we need a DB!
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (30 August 2014 - 03:58 PM) Our week 1 starting CBs will be Antonio Allen and Darrin Walls... wow
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (30 August 2014 - 03:58 PM) interesting that Simms and Boyd were released
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (30 August 2014 - 04:00 PM) No more McIntyre
ROBJETS Icon : (30 August 2014 - 05:20 PM) Pretty sure some of these cuts like Simms and McIntyre were made for removing some more cap space to try to find some decent corners and maybe another reliable wr. Possibly get some players cheap. I'd say the current 53 roster will change a good bit in the next week.
ROBJETS Icon : (30 August 2014 - 05:23 PM) I just hope Geno doesn't get hurt or we are horse f*cked. Vick sure as hell can't stay healthy for a full season. I guess the FO could also be think of picking up an old vet cut as 3rd qb. Simms is ok but I'd never trust him to win a regular season game if he was put in.
ROBJETS Icon : (30 August 2014 - 05:25 PM) Anyway it's going yo be an interesting week.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (30 August 2014 - 10:18 PM) I doubt it was about freeing up money, considering we are way under. Like more than $20 mil, way more than enough to find some vet minimum CB
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (30 August 2014 - 10:19 PM) it's more about the roster numbers. McIntyre was replaced by rookies. IK showed flashes when he played
bleedsgreen Icon : (31 August 2014 - 08:34 AM) McIntyre is a shock to me he was a solid backup and made some big plays
ganggreen2003 Icon : (31 August 2014 - 04:44 PM) 1 week till we are 1-0
ganggreen2003 Icon : (31 August 2014 - 04:44 PM) we need to annihilate the GAYders
azjetfan Icon : (31 August 2014 - 05:28 PM) We claimed McFadden from the Browns. Knows the system should be able to contribute right away
azjetfan Icon : (31 August 2014 - 05:29 PM) Watching the Browns game now. Playing all three CB spots. Looks OK. A little grabby although he has not been called for it
azjetfan Icon : (31 August 2014 - 05:30 PM) Might be a little aggressive and get burnt over top
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (31 August 2014 - 10:26 PM) FIRE IDZIK

ganggreen2003 Icon : (Yesterday, 12:25 PM) for being assclowns
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:17 PM) The Jets are fucked at CB, signing some bums now. We need Milliner to get healthy
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Yesterday, 04:20 PM) We have signed CB Phillip Adams
ganggreen2003 Icon : (Yesterday, 05:55 PM) The Gayders are playing Derek Carr against the JETS
ganggreen2003 Icon : (Yesterday, 05:55 PM) our D Line better put him in a WORLD OF PAIN
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Yesterday, 06:11 PM) Rookie QB in our house...Rex do your thing!!
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:56 PM) with Antonio Allen and Darrin Walls as our starting CBs
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:00 PM) our offense should be better than last year, Geno looks more comfortable
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:03 PM) The Jets released Jeremiah George and Ellis Lankster, hopefully George finds his way to the PS. AJ Edds was re-signed

Somehow I doubt you even bothered to read what I wrote other than to notice I spelled his name right. I think it's fvcking ridiculous that people are crying that Revis actually has to report for workouts to get his money because it might hurt his feelings if there's an awkward feeling at the facility. I'm glad there hasn't been a single mention from the Jets about trading Cro. See.......while Cro has grown as a man and matured, Revis is being painted in the media as doing the complete opposite. I'm interested to see something from Revis himself regarding having to attend. I honestly think he won't have as much issue with it as so many fans do considering he's always shown up in the past. Hell.....even in 2010, he showed up for the voluntary workouts and THEN held out.

The only thing that i upsetting me with Idzik is his demanding THIS year's first rounder over next year's. I don't see any two clear cut must have picks in the first round this year. What are they going to do? Draft bookends on defense? Make a play for Geno Smith if he falls to 9? That's my worry that they pull the trigger and grab this year's first rounder and that pick turns out to be a second rate or merely average player when we could potentially draft a QB (AJ McCarron) with next season's first rounder. Especially considering we're going to have a high draft pick of our own next season after we win no more than 5-6 games this year.

Take a minute to actually go and read what I posted and you may be surprised. But yeah.......I'd trade him for AJ McCarron and other picks. Wouldn't you?

I have nothing to add to this thread. I just want to acknowledge Harlem's avatar. That's the chick from Guy Code. Melanie Iglesius I think. Suuuuuuuper hot. Good choice Jared. Carry on.
Fifteen years ago after an especially disappointing loss to Miami, Esiason, then the Jets' quarterback, was making the seven-mile drive from the Meadowlands back to Manhattan.
While he was slogging through stop-and-go traffic at the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel, the car next to him was violently rear-ended. The quarterback threw his car into park, hopped out and ran to the woman whose car had been hit. She was wearing, of all things, an Esiason jersey, and was utterly shocked when he tapped on her window to check on her.
"Are you OK?" he said, trying to keep calm. "Are you OK?"
"Boomer? Is that you?" she asked the Good Samaritan, sounding disoriented. "I think I'm OK, but . ... "
But what?
"But you guys sucked."
Welcome to the New York Jets, Tim Tebow.

Haven't we been through this countless times already? You guys keep saying its cheaper to keep Revis. PLEASE explain to me how its cheaper to take a total of 18 million in cap hits for him the be here for only 2013 than it is to trade him, take the 12 million hit and get multiple picks in return?

Idzik is doing the RIGHT thing with Revis. Revis didn't even want to come to workouts other than for a checkup and then go back to Arizona than work with the team staff. Idzik says, if you want those bonuses you'll honor the contract and get your ass in Florham Park. I'm glad we finally have someone with the balls to not kiss Revis' ass.

Revis seriously needs a dose of humility like Aso decided to swallow. Rather than playing for 15 million like he was about to, Aso's playing for 3. To send a message to the league that he's got a chip on his shoulder and it's not just a coincidence that he & Revis will both be unrestricted free agents at the same time after the 2013 season. Throw in the fact that he's got a real shot at a ring with the 49ers, he is playing for what Revis is due just in bonuses.

Idzik is smart as hell. He's making Revis work out with the team at the team facility rather than simply accepting the doctor reports that Revis is paying to be sent to the team. The Jets staff can then evaluate Revis' rehab progress so they can see what kind of TRUE timetable he may be on with his rehab so that they can determine his value either to go into negotiations with Revis or trade negotiations. Tanny would've just let Revis stay out in Arizona and just continue to pay him right util the day he walked out of Florham Park for good to sign with Tampa or someone else after the 2013 season.

So let the hater comments begin........but before you do.....keep in mind that I've already stated that if Revis looks like he could return to form, offer him a deal of 9-10 per year with escalators that will allow him to go to 13+ to make him the highest paid DB in the league. If he keeps saying he wants more, that'll be more than enough evidence that he wants to be the highest paid defensive player period. I personally don't think he'll get the mega-deal he thinks he can get at 15-16+ per year anywhere but Tampa & they may just draft someone if they can't get him before or on draft day.

lol cause you made up those numbers. now here are the real numbers

http://nyjetscap.com/salary.html

revis counts 9 mil against the cap this year its 3 mil salary, 3 mil prorated bonus, and 3 mil "other bonus" (aka workout/roster bonus) now if we cut or trade him he will count 12 million against the cap. which means we lose 3 mil in cap space, revis, and need to sign someone else to take his spot. so overall we wind up down 3-5 million cap room and not have revis.

if your gonna argue get your facts straight

cause you don't understand value. this years 1st is worth more then next years 1st. and if somebody wants to trade up into that spot we can get their 1st this year (later in the round) and their 1st next year.

I thought this thread was a joke when I read the title.

Turns out I was right.

based on what?

I know he just started but what has he done?

he let 2 starters (keller and slauson) move on to sign cheap 1 year deals with no replacement in mind

He let every free agnet walk w/o resigning anyone

we have no OLBs (admittedly some of this falls on rex and MT)

We are trying to trade out bets player

We are still stuck with sanchez (not his fault) and he hans't done anyhting to improve the offense

While everyone has valid points and Revis is great...please correct me if Im wrong......but if Revis plays this full year as a Jet and plays well doesn't he have the option to leave next season without the Jets getting anything in return?????

If that is the case I'm pretty sure he will go elsewhere and then the Jets get nothing for Revis at all. Unless the Jets offer him a crazy amount of money to stay here I would bet almost anything that he will leave for more money to a team that has a chance of contending unless this team beats the odds and contends this coming season.

So I agree with trading him if the money is right. Revis may be one of the greatest corners ever in the history of the game but no corner in the history of the game is worth one of the elite linebackers or elite defensive linemen that can disrupt the run and pass game as well as scare the qb and demand a double or triple team almost every play.

Put simply if you can disrupt the qb and the play more often than not you can get away without having elite corners. Revis is always going to just shut down one player. He has no impact on the tightend coverage or other receivers or the running back or the qb behind the line. An elite lineman or linebackers can screw up the plays before they ever develop.

Sure I want to keep Revis and he is my favorite Jet on the team but if it comes down to a choice Id rather have an elite linebacker or lineman any day.

We have two number one corners yet time and time again the 3rd and 4th receivers, and tight-end always get open and our corners never have any impact on those players. A dominant dline and dominant linebacker can disrupt the whole play constantly. You name one corner that has ever been able to do that in the history of the game. There isn't any ever period.

As far as Sanchez. I dont care who we bring in. Until we get rid of Sanchez the offense isn't going to get better. If the 2013 season isn't in the toilet I will be very surprised. You can bet for sure that the fo will be getting rid of Mark at the end of the season.I'm pretty sure the fo is looking to build for the 2014 season. Sanchez isn't going to get any better so they fix what they can now and deal with the qb situation next season unless we luck into a diamond in the rough in a rookie.

Pure and simple I would take a young Ray Lewis type of linebacker any day over a Revis type corner.

Again loving Revis as an amazing Elite great corner is one thing but this about logic about trying to build a strong core defense as opposed to just having a player that only shuts down one player and has no other impact on the game.

pretty much. we'll get a 2015 3rd rounder if he leaves as a free agent and its at the end of the round (conditional pick)

we won't get that for im though. thats the problem. rarely does trading a greta player work in the favor of the team that traded him. we did it with abe and getting mangold but in all fairness since then we haven't had a pass rush. and with no elite CB tandom and no pass rush we will get lit up.

Woody Johnson has the power and its his call... He doesn't want to pay Revis... No GM joins a team and doesn't even talk contract with their star player and these rumors were out there before Idzik was even hired. Its 100% Woody Johnson who doesn't want to pay Revis. Idzik's job now is to try and get as much possible.

Yup its clear that the owner doesn't want to pay the teams most popular player. you konw the one selling jerseys and the one that puts butts in the seats. yup no owner wants that :sterb041:

revis counts 9 mil against the cap this year its 3 mil salary, 3 mil prorated bonus, and 3 mil "other bonus" (aka workout/roster bonus) now if we cut or trade him he will count 12 million against the cap. which means we lose 3 mil in cap space, revis, and need to sign someone else to take his spot. so overall we wind up down 3-5 million cap room and not have revis.

if your gonna argue get your facts straight

Revis' cap numbers are 9 this year & 9 in dead money next year.

Here's an article on the SAME site you just provided breaking down Revis' cap numbers. You will notice it says 9 million in 2013 & another 9 in dead money in 2014 if he leaves via free agency. Here's a quote:

His salary cap charge in 2013 is $9 million, but would rise to $12 million in dead money if he was released. If the Jets allow his contract to void after he plays out the 2013 season he would cost $9 million in dead money in 2014

The Future of Darrelle Revis
I will not be forgotten. This is my time to shine. I've got the scars to prove it. Only the strong survive.

When someone annoys u, it takes 42 muscles in ur face 2 frown. BUT, it only takes 4 muscles 2 extend ur arm & b!tch-slap that mother@*?!&! upside the head!!

i like you you cut out this part
So there is still pressure from both sides to keep Revis on the team in the future rather than to just let him walk away.

if we resign him the dead money goes away, more of a reason to keep and pay him. if we cut him now or trade him we have 3 mil dead money, if he walks next year 9 mil dead money, we keep and resign him, no dead money
Get it done MT

<br />Yup its clear that the owner doesn't want to pay the teams most popular player. you konw the one selling jerseys and the one that puts butts in the seats. yup no owner wants that <img src='http://nyjetsfan.com/forum2/public/style_emoticons/default/sterb041.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sterb041:' /><br />

People came to see Revis on the sidelines last year?
...no hero in your tradgey, no daring in your escape, no salutes to your surrender, nothing noble in your fate....Rush, The Pass.
