Given the uncertainty about the future of coach Rex Ryan, and a new general manager in John Idzik, it’s hard to imagine the Jets investing a first-round pick in a quarterback the next coach might not want if things don’t work out.

But that doesn’t mean they’re not looking for someone to compete with Mark Sanchez and David Garrard.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Florida State’s E.J. Manuel will visit the Jets later this week.

Manuel has been pegged as a late-first or early-second-rounder by many, and the Jets picking at No. 39 in the second round makes a degree of sense.

i'd take a flyer in the 2nd round on him. big arm, big guy, atletic, might be what we need. i wouldn't sue a 1st though

2nd round? Hell No! I'd be ok with him in the 4th or later. I don't understand why this guy is getting 2nd round mention. have the scouts seen his tape?

Not the Seminole guy but yeah if Jenkins is around in the 4th it'd be a really low risk, high reward move. A bit small but a natural pass rusher.

Anyone who gets taken in the 2nd round is slated to be a starter within the next 2 seasons. If he doesn't, its either because he's a bust or there's a vet holding his spot which he's being groomed to replace.

QBs are always a crap shoot IMO. i mean the whole draft is but especially the QB position. plus they always go earlier then expected. Anytime you take a QB in the 2nd-3rd round i consider it a flyer
