ganggreen2003 Icon : (21 April 2015 - 07:52 PM) Week 5 Bye after the London Game against the Dolphags
NJAzrael71 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 09:17 AM) Rivers is likely going to Tennessee. Would LOVE to have him here but we likely won't make the trade. I'd easily give this year and next year
NJAzrael71 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 09:17 AM) 's first rounder for him
azjetfan Icon : (22 April 2015 - 11:03 AM) IMO that's a steep price. I would swap this years first and a conditional 1st next year. Assuming we make the AFC Championship. That would be a 28-32nd pick. Otherwise a second.
MikeGangGree... Icon : (22 April 2015 - 01:07 PM) Yes 2 1st is a lot
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 01:10 PM) draft is next week, pumped
Chadforpresi... Icon : (22 April 2015 - 03:02 PM) What are thoughts on getting a RB in round 1? McShay's newest mock has us taking Gurley at 6. I don't think we should take him that high, but if we trade down and he's available I'd love to snag him, ACL and all. He's got an unreal skill set that, once healthy, will translate readily to the NFL. We're not getting a QB this year without paying a king's ransom, and unless we pay a ransom for a top guy I say ignore QB. I don't want us to take a Hundley or Petty type in the 2nd or 3rd round when we need other pieces (edge rush, OL)
azjetfan Icon : (22 April 2015 - 03:09 PM) We can probably get Gordon in the second. I would pass at 6. If QB is not available a pass rusher will be. Our biggest needs are QB Pass rusher and Oline.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 03:34 PM) any thourghts on shane ray? i see a lot of mocks have us drafting him
Jetsfan115 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 04:35 PM) last one i seen had us taking cooper, a RB, and hundley for our 1st 3 picks. not thrilled about that
Chadforpresi... Icon : (22 April 2015 - 04:38 PM) I don't like Gordon much. Not much of a receiver or blocker, ball security issues, tries to bounce outside too much, stuffed frequently. Gurley is in a league of his own
Chadforpresi... Icon : (22 April 2015 - 04:39 PM) Ray is pretty highly regarded. I'm betting he, Dupree, and Gregory will be our best options as well as edge rushers at 6, but I think that's too high for any of them
Chadforpresi... Icon : (22 April 2015 - 04:43 PM) Personally love Cooper, I know WR isn't our biggest need but he may be the most NFL ready guy in the Draft. If we stick to the 6th pick and Fowler, Beasley, and Mariota are gone, Cooper is the guy to get. I'd even take him over Beasley
Jetsfan115 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 05:45 PM) i don't mind cooper. decker isn't number 1 IMO and marshall is expensive and getting old
Jetsfan115 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 05:45 PM) and we never draft a WR high
Jetsfan115 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 05:45 PM) but o-line and QB are huge needs. i wouldn't take o-line 6th overall, but i think our 2nd or 3rd should be o-line
Jetsfan115 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 05:46 PM) we need an OLB as well. if we don't land a QB i'd like to see OLB adn O-line with 2 of our top 3 picks
Chadforpresi... Icon : (22 April 2015 - 08:16 PM) I agree on Deck, not a true #1 and he's had a checkered history with injuries. Marshall has 2, maybe 3 productive years left, which is why Cooper is an option
Chadforpresi... Icon : (22 April 2015 - 08:17 PM) And I agree with you on edge rusher & OL being bigger needs, but there really isn't a lineman I'd take at 6
Chadforpresi... Icon : (22 April 2015 - 08:19 PM) So the way I see it, assuming Winston and Mariota are taken when we're at 6, that Fowler and Cooper are our best choices, and I'd be stunned if Fowler drops. I wouldn't be surprised (or upset) if we land Cooper
NJAzrael71 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 08:47 PM) Apparently Tennessee wanted both of Cleveland's #1's and their 2nd rounder to move up to the #2 spot to get Mariota. Still think two 1st rounders are too much for Rivers? He makes us instant contenders and if we make a deep playoff run, it would really be this year's 1st and what equates to basically a 2nd rounder next year.
If not, get Cooper in the 1st and then grab Hundley in the 2nd and O-line in the 3rd.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 10:05 PM) I wouldn't be upset with Cooper, hes a stud
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 10:06 PM) Not sure about Ray. Dupree is rising on the draft boards, ridiculously athletic for his size
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 10:07 PM) Dupree is 6'4 270 and has a amazing get off and runs a 4.5
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 10:09 PM) Problem is he doesn't have big sack numbers in college, I rather draft a productive guy high
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 10:09 PM) Vic Beasley is insanely athletic as well and was hugely productive in college, good bet is that Beasley will be a 10+ sack guy in the NFL
NJAzrael71 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 10:12 PM) Beasley should be a stud but he gets caught up hand fighting if he doesn't beat his guy quickly. He'll likely end up as an OLB but we'll see
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 10:15 PM) He'd be a good fit in our defense, because we could use that speed guy on the outside
Chadforpresi... Icon : (23 April 2015 - 06:27 AM) I'd love Rivers, but we should be able to get him without paying 2 first rounders
Chadforpresi... Icon : (23 April 2015 - 06:29 AM) Lot of buzz about Dupree going top 10, most mocks I see have us getting either Ray or Dupree at 6. I prefer Dupree, like you said insane athlete for his size
Chadforpresi... Icon : (23 April 2015 - 06:30 AM) I like Beasley as well but I have a strong feeling Washington will snag him. But he is a small dude, it'd be nice if he'd add some bulk (in Clemson reportedly played around 230)
Chaos Icon : (23 April 2015 - 10:11 AM) @ArifHasanNFL

.@LanceZierlein says on http://sports790.com that Shane Ray will need surgery on foot, 5 months recovery. "Could drop out of first"
Chaos Icon : (23 April 2015 - 10:14 AM) this should change up the top 10
Chadforpresi... Icon : (23 April 2015 - 12:16 PM) Damn that's big. If he drops out of round 1 that could be a massive bargain for whoever gets him round 2. Dupree now looks more like the edge rusher we'd get at 6
MikeGangGree... Icon : (24 April 2015 - 09:40 PM) TEH RANGERS
santana Icon : (24 April 2015 - 11:32 PM) TEH WIZ
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 06:57 AM) Teh Suarez
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 06:58 AM) Vic Beasley is all speed. No moves, no power. Straight up the field. Could have some big games, then nothing in the next
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 06:59 AM) If we don't get Mariota, we should be looking at Schreff or trading down, IMO.
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 06:59 AM) A lot of good edge rushers in this draft... I wouldn't want to take Dupree that high.
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 07:00 AM) Until next time fellas!

Ruskell is a personnel guy with ties to Seattle. Graves was the ex AZ GM who's background is scouting as well. Looks like Idzik is building his own war room. Going to be interesting to see if the Jets finally part ways with Terry Bradway.

Not sure on the need for Bradway to leave. Isn't he suppose to be great at scouting?

Do our drafts reflect 'great" scouting?

What he scouts and who the Jets draft aren't always related. Wasn't he high on Russel Wilson and against Gholston? The drafts are based on the coach's and GM's opinions as well. Can't dump all the blame on him. If he isn't fired, I'm going to assume it's for good reason (or some incriminating evidence against Woody). He's been part of the Jets since 2001 and was kept after being replaced by Tanny and now Idzik (so far).

Was Bradway against the Gholston pick back in 2008 or was he against it years after the 2008 draft? Was he high on Russell Wilson before the 2012 draft or was he high on him after Wilson had a great year with Seattle. I've only heard/read these things about Bradway AFTER it's clear to everybody that Gholston is a bust and Wilson is a rookie sensation.

There are a few things I have realized about Mr. Jet over a few topics.

1) He is a racist. By constantly using race as a battling tool.
2) He is an extreme Liberal. If you are on either extreme you are probabaly more wrong than right.
3) He is one of those people who will never admit fault, error or defeat.
4)His life sucks and he takes it out on people who don't share in his views.

Does it matter? These guys go back and forth on prospects all the time. I'm sure that he at one point thought that Gholston was the next LT and at another point thought he was a bust. My problem is this: he's head of scouting, right? I mean I'm not even sure of what his position is because I can't find it anywhere. All I rememebr is that he was "reassigned" from the GM role into a high-level scouting gig. Anyway, lets assume that he's head of scouting. If he's so brilliant as to forsee Gholston as a bum (which wasn't that hard since there were giant red flags everywhere) and lets say he wanted Wilson bad, which I think I read that he did "bang the table" at the draft for Wilson... why the hell aren't we listening to him more? Right? If he is as good as all these hindsight articles, shouldn't he be the defacto voice in the war room? Or is his overall track record spotty enough that for every pick he gets right, we have a Ducasse and a Anthony Schlegal? In which case, if your head of scouting cannot be trusted, why is he here?

Yes. Bradway loved Russell Wilson. And the Jets drafted Gholston largely because of Mangini, who convinced Tannenbaum that he would make him a player even though the scouting department wasn't high on Gholston.

A new Gm brings in his own scouting department, this isn't surprising.

Considering how many of our draft picks over the past two decades have made pro bowls and are still in the league somewhere, I can't really say that the drafts were that poor. What do you really consider to be poor drafts? We've had far more good players drafted than busts during Bradway & Tannenbaum's tenure.
I will not be forgotten. This is my time to shine. I've got the scars to prove it. Only the strong survive.

revis isn't on the roster either, does that mean he was a bad pick? you can't blame the scouts for the GM not keeping talent. and idzik let like 5 of those players who were solid starters walk this season so its on idzik not the scouts.

Still in the league would be a better question. The fact that we did not resign them is irrelavent

I must admit that I'm somewhat of a stickler when it comes to draft evaluation. To me, hitting on a first rounder should be damn near automatic. Anything less than 75% success rate (meaning that the player is a solid starter in the NFL) is unacceptable. I feel that anything less than 50% for your 2nd rounder is unacceptable. After that, I really don't expect the team to constantly draft starters but in rounds 3-4, I expect solid contributors with one of those pics sticking every other year (basically a 25% success rate). To me, Bradway is less than solid but on the other hand, we can't really separate what we drafted vs what he actually recommended.

Players the Jets let walk this offseason:

LaRon Landry - Injury liability. Couldn't extend his contract anyway due to cap issues.
Mike Devtio - Contract issues.
Sione Pouha - Injury liability. Still a FA.
Dustin Keller - Injured all of last season, no one would sign him long term. 1 year contract with Fins.
Yeremiah Bell - He's 35.
Brandon Moore - Still a FA.
Matt Slauson - Contract issues.
Shonn Greene - He was replaced with 2 other RBs. Not a big loss.

Safety is the Jets biggest weakness. Jets will get back compensatory draft picks for most of these guys and they drafted younger players for the lines. If Jets lost 5 SOLID starters from last season, they would have been a better team last year. Retooling requires changes and the Jets made the required ones. I have no qualms about the the way the Jets handled free agency this year.

landry was too expensive and so was devito. i agree there
pohua if healthy should be brought back in IMO
Keller - we could have brought back for a 1 year deal
bell isn't a big loss
moore isn't a big loss
slauson signed a 1 year dear to make an extra 200k with the bears. we could have paid that small amout and kept our starter we drafted for the past 2 years
greene i was ok letting go.

I only expec a 4th for landry and a 6th for devito and a 6th for keller. not much were getting back. safety is a big weakness we've ignored

That is probably your most coherent post I have seen in a while. I pretty much agree as well. Slauson I felt was overrated. He was between two pro bowlers. Bell was replaced by Landry. Keller I was surprised by but I am sure there is more to it than we know. Greene was average

That is probably your most coherent post I have seen in a while. I pretty much agree as well. Slauson I felt was overrated. He was between two pro bowlers. Bell was replaced by Landry. Keller I was surprised by but I am sure there is more to it than we know. Greene was average

i just think idzik dind't want to pay keller to be honest. maybe it had to do with his relationship to mark, who knows. either way we shouldn't have let keller walk to such a small deal. had they given him like 4 years 30 mil i would have understand like i did with landry. but keller has been our leading receiver for 2 of the past 3 years and would have been last year if not the injuries. he had speed, good route runner, good hands, good down the seam, and always fought for yards. only downfall was his blocking. geno could have really used keller in the future

Personally I think Keller did not want to be here. I think the NY media and fickle fan base wears on players and coaches who have weak minds. He is the only departure that does not make sense to me. That leads me to believe there is more to it.
