Yes, the Jets need a receiver, but it's the deepest receiver draft in years, and they can find a good one in the second round. This would mark the fifth straight year with a defensive pick in Round 1.

Robert Kraft: Vladimir Putin took my Super Bowl ring

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has made the rounds this week, dishing on Tim Tebow's "spirituality," and telling tales about his encounters with powerful men of the east.

You might recall that Kraft in 2005 joined a cadre of businessmen to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg. The Patriots owner walked into that meeting with a jewel-laced Super Bowl XXXIX ring on his finger, but left empty-handed.

"I showed the president my most recent Super Bowl ring," Kraft said at the time, per The Boston Globe. Putin "was clearly taken with its uniqueness ... at that point, I decided to give him the ring as a symbol of the respect and admiration that I have for the Russian people and the leadership of President Putin."

Not so fast. Kraft now admits Putin nabbed the ring -- worth upwards of $25,000 -- without his consent.

"I took out the ring and showed it to (Putin)," Kraft said this week, per the New York Post. "And he put it on and he goes, 'I can kill someone with this ring,' I put my hand out and he put it in his pocket, and three KGB guys got around him and walked out."

Kraft kept his wits about him and complied with a call from the White House, in which a George W. Bush handler told him: " 'It would really be in the best interest of U.S.-Soviet relations if you meant to give the ring as a present.' "

(KGB and the Soviets? Sounds like something out of 1982, not 2005.)

I had an opportunity to chat with Kraft in the hours before Super Bowl XLVI, and asked him which of his Super Bowl victories meant the most. "That's like asking about different children," he said. "Every child is special."

Especially a child kidnapped by the Russians.

UPDATE: Putin's spokesman rebuts Kraft's claim, telling CNN that Putin did not steal the ring and instead was given it as a gift. He even called Kraft's comments "weird."

Nah the story a few years ago was that it was a misunderstanding. That Putin thought that the ring was a gift and Kraft, after realizing it, said he could have it. Now Kraft is saying Putin walked off with it and that Kraft was instructed by the White House to drop it. Slightly different turn of events. Kraft got Deeboed.

Putin is a dictator of one of the most naturally richest areas of the world. He's got multibillionaires as butlers. He gives them companies and in return they funnel money to the Kremlin. When they decide they don't like that arrangement, he throws them in jail over tax evasion. That ring is in the Kremlin library along with a shit load of other jewels that Putin probably throws at hookers when he gets drunk. Of course the hookers are too scared to take them when they leave.

Putin is no joke. He's not a career politician. He's ex KGB. When Chechens attacked a Moscow movie theater, he said "I'll drown them in their own toilets" and came close to committing genocide. If Russia had any type of journalism (that is if the Russian journalists would stop getting killed in their homes) you'd hear a lot more about this shit.

Putin's people just said that Kraft's story is "weird" and that he definitely intended for the ring to be a gift. Expect Kraft to get cancer and/or radiation poisoning within 12 months.

Yeah I read more than just three lines so I read the entire article. I was talking about the overall story (Kraft, Putin, and the SB ring) years ago. I know that in 2005 Kraft said it was a gift and now says Putin took it.

Khrushchev gave Kennedy a puppy and Kraft gave (on purpose or not) Putin a Super Bowl ring. Whatever helps better relations between the two countries.

Exactly my friend. I know all about Mr P. He poisoned the president of the Ukraine some years ago- didn't kill him, but fucked up his face majorly. I forget which toxin was used but before Putin got nasty with him he was pretty good looking. My remark was totally tongue in cheek in reference to someone who probably rivals Stalin in terms of cynicism. Peace bro.
