Jetsfan0099 Icon : (23 January 2015 - 09:21 PM) Bad hire, the 49ers are seriously downgrading in coach. Going from Harbuagh to Tomsula, now Fangio to Mangini
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (23 January 2015 - 10:06 PM) Lol wow
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (24 January 2015 - 08:17 AM) I hate when people say mangini built our team, I didn't know he was gm. Tannenbaum was good at making moves
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (24 January 2015 - 02:05 PM) Bowles added pepper Johnson as dl coach, nice

The Jets are hiring Bears nat'l scout Rex Hogan as their director of college scouting. Chicago has released him from his contract

The Jets are also hiring Rams scout Brian Heimerdinger to a prominent front-office role. St. Louis let him out of his deal.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (24 January 2015 - 07:48 PM) Heimerdinger is our director of player personnel now

ganggreen2003 Icon : (24 January 2015 - 08:12 PM) hopefully his son isn't as horrible as his pop was at play calling
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (24 January 2015 - 08:17 PM) Everyone looks like a bad playcaller when you have no QB and have no talent
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (24 January 2015 - 08:18 PM) When Heimerdinger was our OC it was when we had a ton of injuries on offense, were down to our 4th or 5th string QB

Mr_Jet Icon : (Yesterday, 06:49 PM) But really for all of you complaining about the site. What is there to talk about? We have a new GM and HC that we don't know how good or bad they'll be yet. So there really isn't much to talk about with the draft still months away.

Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 11:18 AM) Orlando Franklin, Mike Iupati, Clint Boling. Should sign one
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Today, 12:34 PM) Franklin or Iupati would be great

  • Nobody anticipated Geno Smith leading Jets to opening win
Peyton Manning's seven touchdown passes aside, let's sift through the contenders and see what sticks out. The fact that we had three safeties in the first half of the early games (led by Darius Reynaud's end-zone pull-back)? Surprising. I would like to say the Pittsburgh Steelers looking so awful was a bit of a shock, but with the team lacking playmakers on both sides of the football, this will be an unusually bad season in The 'Burgh. The New York Giants' six turnovers? That kind of thing happens to teams early in the season. The Jacksonville Jaguars totaling 58 yards on their first 43 plays from scrimmage? Their output will increase from this electric effort when Justin Blackmon returns from his suspension in Week 5.

    So, our winner is ...

Raise your hand if you thought Geno Smith would lead the New York Jets to victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I'm a Jets fan, and my hand isn't up, I promise you. I know this team and its history better than anything else in my life, and in almost 40 years of watching them, I knew how Sunday's story was going to end for New York -- except it didn't. Something happened for Smith in the final two minutes of the first half that turned him into a different QB for the rest of the game. Yes, the rook got a ton of help on the late hit out of bounds -- which is always going to be called, considering how much we protect QBs nowadays -- but he showed more with his fight and grit and determination than any stat line ever could. Gerald McCoy paid Smith the ultimate compliment after the game when the defensive tackle said he couldn't believe how composed Smith was after all the times the Bucs hit him. Composure hasn't been a strong suit for the Jets at quarterback since 2008. Gang Green might really have something here, and I'll believe that even if he throws four picks Thursday night in New England. It takes something special to be a successful quarterback in New York, and it's not overwhelming talent. You never really know about a guy until you see him when stuff gets real, and we know a lot more about Geno Smith on Monday than we did 24 hours before. And it's all good.

you did not think geno would do good because you didn't give geno a chance to do good or bad. the media and 50 % of jet fans wrote the guy off . if you look at the giants pre season game he move the chains for two scores , also had three ints that's rookie suff,he came off a angle injury, do not buy into that media shit he not ready for the nfl . give the kid a chance before you make judgment. personally I think theirs been a lot of stereo typing in the media and buy some fans .I think geno will be a very good qb in the nfl I could be wrong but I wont rush to judgment and I will give him a chance.

...then Iz-dick deserves no credit for drafting him!

Forget beating Brady. If he goes out there and he leads the team and is competitive, that's what I want to see. Winning would be great but it's not the be all end all with this particular team. To put things in perspective, Sanchez beat Brady in his second career game too...
