ROBJETS Icon : (28 August 2014 - 10:48 PM) 2nd and 3rd stringers making the team had something to prove and even our 2nd stringers got owned so yes Im very concerned. The first stringers need breaks and also if some of them get injured they need to step up. So no after this performance start to finish Im very concerned
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (29 August 2014 - 06:39 AM) Meh...you're reading too much into it
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (29 August 2014 - 06:40 AM) Even in seasons where the Jets blew, I haven't seen anyone refer to the preseason to complain. Ever.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (29 August 2014 - 09:15 AM) fire izdik http://theredzone.or...rs/Default.aspx
Jetsman05 Icon : (29 August 2014 - 11:17 AM) I picture Rob and 115 as real life friends
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (29 August 2014 - 04:01 PM) Holmes can still play, problem is that hes also a cancer. He wore out his welcome with the Jets
ganggreen2003 Icon : (29 August 2014 - 08:23 PM) did Hill get cut?
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (29 August 2014 - 09:00 PM) Haven't seen anything yet
MikeGangGree... Icon : (29 August 2014 - 09:06 PM) Whos ready for the season!!? WOOOOO
azjetfan Icon : (30 August 2014 - 11:54 AM) Hill has been cut
MikeGangGree... Icon : (30 August 2014 - 01:24 PM) Who wants to take bets he ends up in NE
ROBJETS Icon : (30 August 2014 - 02:18 PM) We'll I guess you guys are fools then in thinking im a fool for being concerned. Do any of you even know that in 2013 the Jets gave up the most passing yards in the franchise since 1986? And our secondary right now is worse than last year right now. To not be concerned is utterly foolish.
ROBJETS Icon : (30 August 2014 - 02:19 PM) Unless our d-line has a monstrous year odds are the team will be eaten up in the pass. Every team will game plan to exploit the pass this year.
ROBJETS Icon : (30 August 2014 - 02:56 PM) Patterson got cut
flood555 Icon : (30 August 2014 - 03:24 PM) Patterson must have been a huge cancer to get cut
flood555 Icon : (30 August 2014 - 03:26 PM) is there a midseason draft? we need a DB!
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (30 August 2014 - 03:58 PM) Our week 1 starting CBs will be Antonio Allen and Darrin Walls... wow
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (30 August 2014 - 03:58 PM) interesting that Simms and Boyd were released
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (30 August 2014 - 04:00 PM) No more McIntyre
ROBJETS Icon : (30 August 2014 - 05:20 PM) Pretty sure some of these cuts like Simms and McIntyre were made for removing some more cap space to try to find some decent corners and maybe another reliable wr. Possibly get some players cheap. I'd say the current 53 roster will change a good bit in the next week.
ROBJETS Icon : (30 August 2014 - 05:23 PM) I just hope Geno doesn't get hurt or we are horse f*cked. Vick sure as hell can't stay healthy for a full season. I guess the FO could also be think of picking up an old vet cut as 3rd qb. Simms is ok but I'd never trust him to win a regular season game if he was put in.
ROBJETS Icon : (30 August 2014 - 05:25 PM) Anyway it's going yo be an interesting week.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (30 August 2014 - 10:18 PM) I doubt it was about freeing up money, considering we are way under. Like more than $20 mil, way more than enough to find some vet minimum CB
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (30 August 2014 - 10:19 PM) it's more about the roster numbers. McIntyre was replaced by rookies. IK showed flashes when he played
bleedsgreen Icon : (31 August 2014 - 08:34 AM) McIntyre is a shock to me he was a solid backup and made some big plays
ganggreen2003 Icon : (31 August 2014 - 04:44 PM) 1 week till we are 1-0
ganggreen2003 Icon : (31 August 2014 - 04:44 PM) we need to annihilate the GAYders
azjetfan Icon : (31 August 2014 - 05:28 PM) We claimed McFadden from the Browns. Knows the system should be able to contribute right away
azjetfan Icon : (31 August 2014 - 05:29 PM) Watching the Browns game now. Playing all three CB spots. Looks OK. A little grabby although he has not been called for it
azjetfan Icon : (31 August 2014 - 05:30 PM) Might be a little aggressive and get burnt over top

ganggreen2003 Icon : (Yesterday, 05:55 PM) The Gayders are playing Derek Carr against the JETS

Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:00 PM) our offense should be better than last year, Geno looks more comfortable

I hope so. We have a really good coaching staff and a young team with tons of cap space. If we get some offensive playmakers and Geno becomes good then we could be tough.

in all honesty I wanted rex out of here regardless of what happened this season before it even got started, but now that we have had 5 games played this season and seeing that this team is actually doing well with the talent we lack, I would keep him here for 1 more year but with a very short leash, so if the 2014 were to be a complete disaster then we wouldn't be tied to him longer term, so my solution would be sign rex to a 1 year contract with incentives to get a possible extension but his leash would be really short and we wouldn't be tied to a lame duck if he shit the bed next year....JUST MY OPINION!!!!

1) He is a racist. By constantly using race as a battling tool.
2) He is an extreme Liberal. If you are on either extreme you are probabaly more wrong than right.
3) He is one of those people who will never admit fault, error or defeat.
4)His life sucks and he takes it out on people who don't share in his views.

I hope so. He has shown when he has some talent we can win. Look at Coughlin and Tomlin. Both are good coach's but with little talent they are loosing. HC is alot like QB. They get to much credit and to much blame. Rex is a good coach.

If the team keeps playing to the standard they have so far played to then Rex will have every right to remain in the job, even if we end up 7-9. He's arguably the league's foremost defensive mind - that unit seems to be playing better than last year even with less talent, seven new starters and three rookies starting (when all are healthy). With Mornhinweg, a reliable hand, in charge of the offense that side of the ball is in better shape too. There's less of a sideshow surrounding the team too and Rex seems to have learnt that all publicity is not necessarily good publicity when you're in charge of a New York team.

Also, realistically is there any coach potentially available who'll be better than Rex as well? As a first time GM, Idzik is unlikely to want a new coach with significant prior experience as a head coach in the league. And there certainly seem to be less highly touted coordinators being touted when compared to recent years gone by.

I never understood why people wanted him gone. He's a good coach who gets way more out of a team than other head coaches could. Honestly...how did the jets get 6 wins last year, with that team? with the team the jets had last year, the jets should have been picking in the top 3. Sure at the beginning, he was a loud mouth that easily rubbed people the wrong way, but you can see at this point, he has tasted the humble pie. The guy is an under rated coach in my mind. He is a motivator that can get his guys to play hard for him. He knows what he is doing. This team can win with him...but as it has been proven in recent years, in order to be a contender...you need a QB. Geno has been hot and cold, but regardless, we have seen that this jets team can move the ball. Better than any other rex coached team, thats for damn sure. Even in our losses this year, the jets have piled on the yards. Turnovers have been this teams Achilles heel this year. Fix those, and the jets are a tough team to beat. This jets team could easily be 4-1 right now, with a win against the patriots.

Regardless, there weren't to many people out there that expected this type of start, including myself. The jets have a chance to take down our weak division. A big reason is because of rex. He needs to stick around unless this team completely tanks from here on out. Even an 8-8 or 7-9 year is a success with the offensive talent this team has. The one problem, marty marhenweg. It was speculated that he was hired to be the coach in waiting. If rex keeps his job, what happens to marty? Does he stay or does he pursue a head coaching job? He is a big reason this team has looked like they in their first 5 games.

i think rex has earned his stay. we've never had a defense that wasn't top 10 under him. we finally got a real OC, geno looks like he could be our franchise QB. were on an upswing right now, making a big change like that will set us back and rex hasn't do anything to justify being fired

but obviously he wouldn't i mean he'd be the most sought after DC if he was let go by the Jets

I'm actually curious when Rob Ryan is going to get his chance to be a HC

Too early to say, but early returns indicate that he should come back. The players are responding to him, the D is clicking, and the Marty hire has really helped the offense. Now a lot can go wrong in the next 11 games but if it doesn't, I think he has a solid chance. A lot of it will probably be dependent on the Idzik-Ryan relationship though. I hope that Jets find a way to keep come consistency. New HC means a new OC and that'll just hurt Geno.

If rex goes, marhenweg is the next HC.

Mornhinweg went 5-27 as HC of the Lions from 2001-2002. I'm pretty sure Idzik doesn't want to hitch his GM wagon to him especially with bigger names out there.

Vince Lombardi would've went 5-27 with that Lions team. The Lions of the 2000s were totally devoid of talent and that was Matt Millen's fault. Mornhinweg to be fair had nothing to work with on the field when he was HC of the Lions.

@AdamSchefter: A season supposed to be Rex Ryan’s last with Jets has gone so well one source said “the arrow now points to Rex being back next season.”

If we win even 2 of these next 4 games, I think Rex gets an extension. He's had only 1 losing season and 1 at .500. People seem to forget that. His first 2 years getting us to the AFC Championship actually hurt him more than helped him when it comes to people's expectations.
I will not be forgotten. This is my time to shine. I've got the scars to prove it. Only the strong survive.
