Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson's 2-year-old son is currently in critical condition in a South Dakota hospital after he was allegedly severely beaten by the man dating the mother of his child, according to TMZ.com.

The Minnesota Vikings running back immediately left his team to be with his son.

Officials say they've arrested the suspect, 27-year-old Joseph Pattersonwho's been charged with aggravated felony assault and battery of an infant.

According to law enforcement, emergency responders arrived to the apartment where Peterson's son was living at 5:46 PM on Wednesday and found the child unresponsive.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital and medical experts determined the injuries were consistent with abuse.

Law enforcement sources say the child suffered severe head injuries.

Wow...

Adrian Peterson's 2-year-old son—not Adrian Peterson Jr., but a formerly "secret" child—is "not expected to survive his injuries," and could be taken off life support tonight, City Pages reports. On Wednesday, the Sioux Falls boy was allegedly beaten by his mother's boyfriend, Joseph Robert Patterson, 27, who has been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated assault on an infant.

I'm sorry but Peterson is partially to blame for this too. Not that he had anything to do with this shit and not that he wanted his child to get hurt but how you gonna have a "secret" child? How you gonna be on record as not sure if the child is yours? These dudes got more money than brains and they're running around sticking their dicks into these dumbass groupie bitches who don't know anything other than going out to clubs and posting pics of themselves in vips with ballers on instagram. Then they get pregnant, probably for the money, except your attorney runs circles around them and now they stuck with a kid that they don't know what to do with and they bring all these disturbed psychos into their lives and no one ever thinks about the kids until it's too f***ing late.

Bang on my friend. Poor kid is on this planet for only 2 years and meets this kind of end. A fuckin' 2 year old!!! What is he? Maybe 2 feet tall and 35 pounds? I got a good way to smarten the asshole up who did it. Invented as an execution device in 560BC it's called the Brazen Bull. It's a hollow life sized cast bronze bull with a door in it. You put your victim inside and light a bonfire underneath. The mouth has an opening so you can hear the fucker roasting to death...fitting punishment for this guy.

I agree with what you guys are saying about the guy who did this and I feel bad for the kid but also Peterson just became a total piece of sh*t in my eyes and it pisses me off that the media is giving Peterson any sympathy.

I mean come the f*ck on....your son is only 2 years old and in critical condition which means he is in really bad shape and maybe bad enough that he could die and you only spend half a day with him?!?!?!?!?

Peterson is definitely a total piece of sh*t. I dont care whether he sees the kid or not very often. Half a day?!?!?! And even has a press conference?!?!? Peterson`s actions are saying that he really doesn't give a f*ck.

How important is it that he has to return the next day to practice? He couldn't even miss practice when his son is in critical condition? He could have missed practice and the game or games or just played in the games and not practiced.

Anyone that has an argument with this then how about you take into account when a few years ago when he didn't practice at all through the week and just played games for like a full season or two because he was banged up. Yet for some reason he cant miss practice for his son.

Ive lost all respect for Peterson. He has showed he is a terrible dad. I wish the media could call Peterson out on this but they are afraid of being fired or lawsuits.

While you make some points that are valid I think you may be off base here. Personally if it were my child I would be by his side the whole way, but I live with him, I have raised him from birth and he is my life. AP seems to have a different story. We dont know how the mother has allowed AP to be a part of his life if at all. We don't know all the details. I thnk we should reserve judgement until we know more.

The boy died according to an update.

Well I really dont understand how you see it because it makes no sense. I dont care if he almost never saw him at all. Peterson is playing a f*cking game. If he was doing something where lives are at stake or out of the country and couldn't make it back were at stake then that is understandable.

No way I or anyone with a heart at all could see how he could go up there and spend half a day with his two year old son and then just go back and practice while his son was dying. And hold a news conference. I dont know of any parent that would hold a news conference so soon after the incident while their child was dying. That is cold hearted as sh*t and playing for sympathy with the media. If he cared about the child at all he would have been there out of respect for his offspring and not in front of the mics or back at practice. Put it this way would you get in front of the news cameras if you were choosing to play some football other than stay with your child while he or she were dying?

Families always deal with death at some point but this isn't a situation where it was a grown bother, sister, parent, etc. This is a baby and he was in critical condition and Peterson didn't think that was important enough to be there until he died or came out of it. Ive never heard of a parent doing this. IF he was going to do this crap why bother going to see the boy at all? On top of that most of the time someone is in critical condition it is only for a few days at most. They either come out of critical or they dont and either die or a temporary coma is induced to relieve stress on the body. I feel quite sure Peterson could have spared a couple of days.

I find it sad that you can even try to defend him and try to come up with some crap about not understanding the situation. What is there to understand? His 2 year old was beaten into critical condition and later died. Any loving parent has a responsibility to be there in that case. Its not like Peterson couldn't be there for some reason. He found time to go back and practice and get in front of the mics. Its perfectly clear. There is nothing to understand. And its not like he could have a huge fight and falling out with a 2 year old child.

He is a piece of shit period.Anyone can bring a baby into the world. That doesn't make them good people. There are plenty of great athletes across the country. Being athletic doesn't make you a great person. Don't defend him because he is an amazing athlete. I would have more respect for him if he killed someone than do something like this.

Thank you for bringing some sanity back to this thread that has gone off the rails. Some of you guys....my God. Until you've lost a child you have no idea how a person tries to cope with that kind of grief. Different people have different ways of dealing with tragedy, and some people's way might not be the same way you or I would deal with it. At the very least have some compassion for the situation first and let the FACTS come out before you start talking shit.

There are a few things I have realized about Mr. Jet over a few topics.

1) He is a racist. By constantly using race as a battling tool.
2) He is an extreme Liberal. If you are on either extreme you are probabaly more wrong than right.
3) He is one of those people who will never admit fault, error or defeat.
4)His life sucks and he takes it out on people who don't share in his views.

It's a shame that a 2 year old boy dies from a senseless act of violence. No parent should have to go through this.

UPDATE:

AP didn't know this child existed until this summer when he was court ordered to take a paternity test. He has never met the child until he visited him in the hospital.

Pisses me off to hear any child that is killed by domestic violence and from war. The children look up to adults to take care of them. Trust.
Harm one of my kids, better run like hell.
