Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:45 AM) FIRE IDZIK,
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:45 AM) I really hope the JEts completely clean house this offseason and get rid of everyone, it's time.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:54 AM) We need to keep getting embarrassed every week to ensure that. That is why I don't give a shit about getting destroyed, it makes the team look like more of a joke and forces Woody to make real changes
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:55 AM) Like how do you get blown out by a team that didn't practice while you had 2 weeks to prepare?
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:55 AM) That kind of stuff may force Woody to make the big changes and fire everyone
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:55 AM) John Idzik has handled the QB situation terribly. 2 times he pretty much handed the job to his draft pick
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:56 AM) Besides Sheldon Richardson, his drafts have been awful.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 08:57 AM) Maybe Woody will clean house and go all out for Jim Harbaugh, that probably won't happen though but it would be a franchise changer.
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Today, 10:07 AM) Harbaugh would be amazing...but because it makes sense it won't be done
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Today, 10:51 AM) According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets blocked coach Rex Ryan from talking to Mehta about a bye-week visit to his ailing father, legendary NFL defensive guru Buddy Ryan. Buddy, who rose to prominence as defensive coordinator of the ’85 Bears and then coached the Eagles and Cardinals, is battling cancer.
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Today, 10:52 AM) Mehta interprets the muzzling of Rex Ryan as proof positive that, once the season ends, Ryan will no longer be the team’s head coach. Apparently, the team fears that Rex would become more sympathetic in the eyes of the fan base if he’s dumped by the team at a time when his father is fighting a serious illness.
santana Icon : (Today, 11:05 AM) Mehta is an idiot
santana Icon : (Today, 11:25 AM) If colt McCoy lights it up do the jets make a move?
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Today, 11:27 AM) I don't even care what they do for a while
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Today, 11:28 AM) The team is a catastrophe
santana Icon : (Today, 11:29 AM) I didn't see the game
santana Icon : (Today, 11:29 AM) I remember the first bills game though I'm guessing it was like that with more sleeping in the end zone
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Today, 11:32 AM) I'm with 0099...I hope they keep getting destroyed
Chaos Icon : (Today, 11:33 AM) it's a very Jets-esque move to sign McCoy if he does well
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Today, 11:53 AM) I think they sign RGIII, Cutler, or Bradford
santana Icon : (Today, 12:10 PM) why not all three
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Today, 12:11 PM) Knowing this team, I wouldn't put that past them
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Today, 02:07 PM) RAUL FOR QB
santana Icon : (Today, 02:10 PM) the only real choice
santana Icon : (Today, 02:10 PM) almost uefa time

Brandon Stokley retires: Ex-Broncos receiver ends 15-year NFL career
By Mike Klis

During a practice with the Baltimore Ravens this year, Brandon Stokley made a self-deprecating observation about his NFL career.

"You know, there's nobody who has played as long as me who has caught as few balls as me," Stokley said with a laugh to his receivers coach Jim Hostler.

There's a compliment in there, somewhere.

Start with only 18 NFL receivers have made it through 15 seasons. As usual, Stokley's instincts were impeccable. His 397 catches are easily the fewest of the group 160 less than No. 17 Troy Brown's 557.

Stokley won't catch up. The former Broncos slot receiver has played his last game. After talking it over with Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome three weeks ago, Stokley knew he was finished playing.

Placed on season-ending injured reserve with his latest concussion, Stokley's retirement will become official when the Ravens' season ends. He no doubt could have played again next year, as dependable slot receivers are in short supply.

But Stokley is one of the few who is retiring on his terms.

"I'm glad I played this year because now I know I'm done," Stokley said Thursday in the living room of his Castle Rock home. "Had I not played this year I would have always felt I could have kept playing. I still know I can play but my body just can't go through it anymore."

A string of injuries was the reason why Stokley doesn't have the career stats of the other 15-year receivers. Character, the football intelligence of a coach's son, a team-above-self attitude and the ability to make the clutch catch on third down were why Stokley was always in demand.

"I think Brandon is the best teammate I've ever had," said Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, who played with Stokley in Indianapolis from 2003-06 and again with the Broncos in 2012. "He's a guy you want on your team in your corner. Fifteen years as a slot receiver in the NFL, going across the middle, taking hits, it's almost unheard of."

The last hit was delivered by Minnesota linebacker Chad Greenway. It was hardly a big hit, which Newsome and Stokley took as a sign. In the fourth quarter of the Ravens' 29-26 win on Dec. 8, Stokley caught a 2-yard pass from Joe Flacco along the sideline. Greenway hit him around the chest, not the head. Stokley's head didn't hit the ground but he suffered a concussion anyway.

It's been reported that it was Stokley's 13th concussion, although he doesn't think it was that many.

"I don't know how you describe a concussion," he said.

What medical science has determined with cumulative concussions is it takes less impact on each subsequent hit to cause the next brain injury. Three weeks after getting tackled by Greenway, Stokley still has to monitor his exertion.

He sat on his couch Thursday with his son Cameron between him and wife Lana while Carson was running to and fro in the living room that offered a spectacular view of the Rocky Mountains.

"Of course you worry about it but I never wanted to be the reason why he stopped playing," Lana said. "We would talk. But I knew he would know when it was time to stop playing. I just didn't want him to have any regrets."

Said Stokley: "If in 30 years I'm feeling fine and I would have stopped playing football four or five years ago it would have been, 'Why did I stop?' You can't predict the future. So I was all in with football until I knew it was time for me to stop playing."

He's won two Super Bowl rings with Baltimore in 2000 and Indianapolis in 2006. And of those 397 catches, 160 came on third down, 133 for first downs an incredible 83.1 percent conversion rate.

"I guarantee you every quarterback he's played with, whether (Trent) Dilfer or (Jay) Cutler all the guys would tell you how great a teammate and how thankful they were that he was in the slot," Manning said, "because you knew he was going to get open on a critical third down and make that big catch."

Stokley said his immediate retirement plans were to serve as Lana's personnel assistant and help raise their sons Cameron and Carson.

Yeah this was a funny quote. That said the man has nothing to complain about. Few have long careers in the NFL so whether he caught few footballs or a lot he succeeded where few have with a long career.
