Geno injured, IK cut, Amish Rifle starting - http://nyjetsfan.com...showtopic=38773
santana Icon : (14 August 2015 - 09:02 PM) fitz is probably the best qb the jets have had in the last 3/4 years
santana Icon : (14 August 2015 - 09:02 PM) depressing
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (14 August 2015 - 11:13 PM) depressing but true
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (14 August 2015 - 11:13 PM) Fitzpatrick can play at a average level, the Jets have had QB play on the below average level
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (14 August 2015 - 11:13 PM) Fitzpatrick not being mentioned as a NFL worst starter is a upgrade for this team
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (14 August 2015 - 11:14 PM) He could throw for 25 TDs if he starts every game
Chaos Icon : (14 August 2015 - 11:18 PM) 2009 with a Favre and Rex pairing could have been special
ganggreen2003 Icon : (16 August 2015 - 09:20 PM) ok so who thinks geno has played his last game of his JETS career?
ganggreen2003 Icon : (16 August 2015 - 09:23 PM) I honestly think his JETS career is knocked out like that right hand by IK
ganggreen2003 Icon : (17 August 2015 - 08:50 PM) why the hell can't the JETS ever get it right
ganggreen2003 Icon : (17 August 2015 - 08:50 PM) are we doomed for all eternity?
Jetsfan115 Icon : (18 August 2015 - 01:56 PM) kerly might be losing his job to a younger WR
GreenDude Icon : (18 August 2015 - 06:34 PM) We just signed Matt Flynn
santana Icon : (18 August 2015 - 07:02 PM) FLYNNNNSANITYYY
santana Icon : (18 August 2015 - 07:02 PM) hype hype hype
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (19 August 2015 - 12:31 PM) Which receiver is Kerley losing his job to?
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (19 August 2015 - 12:31 PM) Kerley is still gonna be our slot receiver. Devin Smith is a outside WR, deep threat and hes gonna be out for a bit.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (19 August 2015 - 12:32 PM) though Brandon Marshall likes playing in the slot at times and does work there
Jetsfan115 Icon : (19 August 2015 - 01:27 PM) he's apparently battling (and losing to) enuiwa
Jetsfan115 Icon : (19 August 2015 - 01:28 PM) enunwa^
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (19 August 2015 - 02:26 PM) I haven't heard about that
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (19 August 2015 - 02:28 PM) I read how kerley has been uncover able one on one

Jetsfan115 Icon : (20 August 2015 - 11:12 AM) sounds like the jets think kerly is too small for what they want
Jetsfan115 Icon : (20 August 2015 - 11:13 AM) if enunwa is our 3rd WR that gives us 3 starting Wrs over 6-2. compared to the 5'7 kerly.
RetireChrebet Icon : (20 August 2015 - 11:32 PM) Hopefully enunwa pans out. The jets need to start catching talent in he late rounds like most successful teams do.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (21 August 2015 - 03:05 PM) MT did for us
MikeGangGree... Icon : (21 August 2015 - 06:49 PM) Well it's only pre season but I don't enjoy watching them walk right over our defense
MikeGangGree... Icon : (21 August 2015 - 07:20 PM) Looks like nothing has changed from the last 5 years. Our offense is still trash
MikeGangGree... Icon : (21 August 2015 - 07:50 PM) Damn petty has a rocket arm!
MikeGangGree... Icon : (21 August 2015 - 07:54 PM) Kellen Davis sucks
Mr_Jet Icon : (22 August 2015 - 12:40 PM) Bryce Petty looked really good last night.
azjetfan Icon : (22 August 2015 - 04:56 PM) He took some big steps from week one. There is no question. If he continues to progress like that we may be chanting for him sooner than expected. I love his arm.
azjetfan Icon : (22 August 2015 - 06:56 PM) Sanchez looks like Drew Bree's today
MikeGangGree... Icon : (25 August 2015 - 01:24 PM) WOOOOOOOO Ric Flair!
Jetsman05 Icon : (26 August 2015 - 01:45 PM) The guy in the fantasy league who said we're scared of Santana... is clearly santana.
Jetsman05 Icon : (26 August 2015 - 01:45 PM) just sayin
Jetsman05 Icon : (26 August 2015 - 01:45 PM) im only half serious
santana Icon : (27 August 2015 - 09:30 AM) Also i suspect that santana
santana Icon : (27 August 2015 - 09:30 AM) might be santana
santana Icon : (27 August 2015 - 01:35 PM) Tough draw for Liverpool

ESPN New York reports the Jets "could check into the availability" of Matt Schaub.

Schaub is a near-lock to be released by the Texans, saving Houston $4 million against the 2014 cap. The Jets are in the market for a veteran to compete with Geno Smith this summer and have been linked to Michael Vick and now Schaub. Schaub has also been connected to the Raiders and shouldn't command more than $3-4 million annually on a backup-caliber contract. Feb 12 - 1:08 PM

Worth a look if the Jets want to bring in a veteran backup/someone legitimate to push Geno.

I expect that the Jets will sign a veteran QB. I could see Vick or Schaub ending up here. Geno had terrible numbers, he shouldn't be given the job. He has to get A LOT better.

If it is presented as an open competition to Schaub he will come here over Oakland. We are closer to being a winning team.

There are a few things I have realized about Mr. Jet over a few topics.

1) He is a racist. By constantly using race as a battling tool.
2) He is an extreme Liberal. If you are on either extreme you are probabaly more wrong than right.
3) He is one of those people who will never admit fault, error or defeat.
4)His life sucks and he takes it out on people who don't share in his views.

Instead of competing for "who has the best chance to take us to the playoffs" it'll be "who is less likely to throw a pick 6".

Schaub sucked last season, the year before last season he had 4,008 yards, 64% completions, 22 TD 12 INT, 91 QB rating. Last year was the first year he was throwing a lot of INTs. Kurt Warner had his down years then bounced back.

Anyways, I think Vick is coming here.

I see Schaub more as Jake Delhomme than Kurt Warner. Once Jake got bad, it got BAD.

Best keep Sanchez around then too.

If we're bringing in a veteran QB, I'd prefer it to be Vick than Schaub, not least because Vick has experience playing in Mornhinweg's offense. I wouldn't be opposed to Schaub though. His play did deteriorate sharply last year, but in his four previous seasons his TD-INT ratio was 2:1. In a new environment playing for a team with lower expectations going into the season than was the case with the Texans at the start of last season, perhaps he can thrive.

Spare me the ratios from years ago. Dude had Andre Johnson winning every jump ball and when he was in trouble, just dump it off to Foster. f*** Schaub. f*** Vick. He's too good to be backing up Geno and he can't stay healthy. We need Sanchez back, period. Sanchez is the only QB that will actually keep Geno off the bench and hopefully develop into something.

Sanchez, Chad Henne, that old guy from the Browns that was drafted 2 years ago. Thats our short list of backups.

if you don't upgrade the wr's., te's and 3rd down back, qb won't matter.

eric ebron, marquise lee, mike evans one of them should be there at 18.

2nd round should also go to skill player position unless a 1st rd def. talent drops that far.

I think mcluster(rb) could fill 3rd down and special teams.

@RapSheet - If #Jets release Mark Sanchez, their QB list will include Josh McCown, Michael Vick… & Matt Schaub if he’s released. They’re high on Schaub

I would be fine with signing Schaub. I don't want to hand Geno the job, he has to earn that spot.

Outside of last year Schaub has been solid. He is not the future nor will he ever be a Manning or Brees but he could be a hold the fort down guy if we believe Geno is not the answer. The Texans were a train wreck last year even after he was benched. Cant put all that on him. For a decent contract with the expectation of we will start the best player I would take him over Vick or McCown.

Schaub with the Jets won't have the kind of running threat he had in Houston with Arian Foster and won't have an all pro WR like he had with Andre Johnson in Houston. Schaub would just turn into an interception machine with the Jets without a strong running attack to keep defenses honest and no star WR to require double teams. I'd rather pick up somebody like Josh McCown who would do the same thing as Schaub at a little bit of a cheaper price. And I still think the Jets should draft a QB in the later rounds like Jimmy Garoppolo.

@AdamSchefter: Oakland Raiders now are expected to trade a 2014 late-round pick to Houston Texans in exchange for QB Matt Schaub, per league source.
